Opis:
Analytical solution of the Boltzmann transport equation for phonon transport in Bi$\text{}_{0.95}$Sb$\text{}_{0.05}$ nanowire is obtained. Thermal conductivity was calculated from the analytical solution of the Boltzmann transport equation. We calculate the lattice thermal conductivity of Bi$\text{}_{0.95}$Sb$\text{}_{0.05}$ nanowire as a function of temperature for different wire thicknesses. The results show that thermal conductivity of nanowire can be significantly smaller than the bulk thermal conductivity. We show that low thermal conductivity Bi$\text{}_{0.95}$Sb$\text{}_{0.05}$ nanowire for thermoelectric applications would have a small diameter.

Opis:
Modelling of the quantum interaction properties of nitrone on the fullerene C60 has been investigated by the use of PM3 calculations. It has been found that the interaction potential of the nitrone with the fullerene C60 led to stable complexes when the fullerene reacted with the carbon atom ($C^1$-centered) and metastable conformations with carbon atom ($C^2$-centered). We have studied the effect of two rotation characteristics (nitrone and $NOCH_2$ group) on the binding between the fullerene C60 with the nitrone. Our results suggested that the binding energy is lower as the nitrone rotation increases and the $NOCH_2$ group rotation showed more effect. The fullerene C60 may be able to do more linking with molecules of nitrone.

Opis:
During the last 10 years the rate of new protein structures determined by X-ray crystallography has risen about tenfold. The use of high flux sources was instrumental in this growth. There are numerous advantages of using synchrotron radiation for protein crystallography: rapid data collection, use of micro-crystals and the ability to conduct measurements at wide range of wavelengths. The rate-limiting step is often the ability to analyze and back up a fast stream of data produced by a multi-module CCD detector. The goal of the newly developed HKL-2000 package is to integrate all computational activities that have to be performed during the data collection experiment. The Graphical Command Center of HKL-2000 organizes and forwards the data collection parameters to the display, indexing, strategy, simulation, refinement, integration, scaling, and merging tasks. Data acquisition can become a part of data processing (or vice versa), which includes indexing, integration, scaling, and even phasing. The increase in internet band width will provide an opportunity to remotely interact with the experimental setup and perform the synchrotron experiment from the home laboratory.
