The modified liquid-phase epitaxy method have been used to obtain submicron iron-yttrium garnet ferrite films in vortex state. There is shown a possibility to use these films for creating sensors, which are very sensitive to zero magnetic field.

Opis:
The paper presents a design and a prototype of integrated system, designed for heading determination of land vehicles. The heading is an angle between the North direction (true or magnetic) and the direction of longitudal axis of a vehicle in the horizontal plane. In land vehicle positioning and navigation, for most of the time the heading can be considered the same as the direction of movement of the vehicle. Thus, it can be used, along with information about the linear displacement of the vehicle, for dead reckoning, i.e. calculation of current vehicle position by accumulating position increments from a known initial location. The determination of vehicle heading represents a key function of dead reckoning and significantly influences the accuracy of land vehicle positioning. Each of the angular sensors, commonly used for heading determination, has serious drawbacks and joint processing of data from several devices can be advantageous. The paper contains a short description of operation, properties and error characteristics of gyros and electronic compasses, which are frequently applied in heading determination application. Further part of the paper presents a design of integrated system, composed of the above mentioned devices. The system processes navigation data with use of a single complementary Kalman filter. A prototype of the designed system has been constructed and tested by the authors. The paper contains a detailed description of the prototype and chosen results of its testing.

Opis:
A new version of the construction of the extraordinary magnetoresistance effect (EMR) based magnetic sensor has been proposed [2]. The differences between the original three dimensional (3D) construction and proposed 2D (planar) construction are presented. In proposed construction the metallic thin film (shunt) is coplanar with the semiconductor sensitive element. There are advantages of that planar construction like easier way of technological obtaining of the device. Another advantage is its application for EMR sensors based on new electronic materials like graphene and topological insulator thin films. The validity of the planar construction has been experimentally confirmed for model EMR sensors based on InSb/Ag structures. Comparison of the obtained experimental data with computational simulations of the EMR effect on planar model EMR sensors is performed Finite element method (FEM) is used as a tool for obtaining EMR effect simulations.

Opis:
The results on the study of grain boundary effects and influence of film deposition conditions on the magnetoresistance and its anisotropy in polycrystalline $La_{0.83}Sr_{0.17}MnO_3$ films are presented. The magnetoresistance was measured in high pulsed magnetic fields up to 25 T (pulse duration ≈ 0.6 ms) in the temperature range of 120-300 K. A modified Mott hopping model was applied to describe the main behavior of high-field magnetoresistance for both ferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases of the polycrystalline films by taking into account the demagnetization field of the films measured in low magnetic fields perpendicular to film plane. It was also found that to obtain the higher magnetoresistance saturation field at room temperature it is necessary to use the films with smaller crystallites (D ≈ 100 nm). Such films could be used for design of megagauss pulsed magnetic field sensors.

Opis:
The magnetoresistance of thin polycrystalline $La_{1-x}Sr_{x}MnO_{3}$ films deposited on lucalox substrate using metal organic chemical vapor deposition technique was investigated in pulsed magnetic fields up to 18 T in the temperature range 100-320 K. The influence of film preparation conditions, ambient temperature variation and Sr content is analyzed in order to determine the optimal conditions for the design of CMR-B-scalar magnetic field sensor based on thin manganite film, operating at room temperature.

Opis:
Interaction of domain walls in ferromagnetic stripes is studied with relevance to the formation of stable complexes of many domains. Two domain wall system is described with the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation including regimes of narrow and wide stripes which correspond the presence of transverse and vortex domain walls. The domain walls of both kinds are characterized with their chiralities (the direction of the magnetization rotation in the stripe plane) and polarities (the magnetization orientation in the center of a vortex and/or halfvortices), hence, their interactions are analyzed with dependence on these properties. In particular, pairs of the domain walls of opposite or like chiralities and polarities are investigated as well as pairs of opposite (like) chiralities and of like (opposite) polarities. Conditions of the creation of stationary bubbles built of two interacting domain walls are formulated with relevance to the situations of presence and absence of the external magnetic field.
