Opis:
In this work we have studied the effect of temperature on the viscosity of magnetic fluids (MFs) based on the transformer oil ITO 100. The volume concentration of suspended magnetic particles (MPs) changed from 0.25 to 1%. Rheological characterization of MFs was performed using a vibroviscometer at working frequency of 30 Hz. The temperature dependence of the viscosity was measured in the temperature range from 20 up to 50 °C. The magnetization of different concentrations of MPs in MFs was determined by using the vibrating sample magnetometer.

Opis:
The work concerns application of titanium-sapphire femtosecond laser oscillator with 82 MHz repetition rate at 800 nm in measurements of ultrafast magneto-optical and magnetization-induced second harmonic generation effects. Time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect pump-probe method was used in investigation of ultrafast precession of magnetization in Fe/Au multilayers. Magnetization precession frequency, obtained as a function of magnetic field applied, allows determining saturation magnetization and damping factor. The magnetization-induced second harmonic generation effect has been used for study of garnet films. This method allows to determine crystallographic symmetry and hysteresis loops in an external magnetic field at 2 ω laser induced frequency. The simultaneous measurements of linear and second order magneto-optical effects enable to investigate magnetic interfaces in the studied structures.

Opis:
The work is devoted to studies of ultrafast magnetization dynamics induced by femtosecond laser pulses in ferromagnetic Ni-Mn-Sn shape memory Heusler alloy. We studied epitaxial thin Ni_{54.3}Mn_{31.9}Sn_{13.8} film deposited on (001) MgO substrate. Spin precession in an external magnetic field was triggered and detected by the time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect (TRMOKE) using pump-probe technique in dual color scheme experiment. Measurements were performed as a function of magnetic field H and pulse power P. The measured TRMOKE signal is composed of oscillatory and background components, both decaying exponentially in a nanosecond time scale. The precession frequency was determined and found to be varying in the range of 1-10 GHz with H up to 3 kOe and decreasing linearly with P. The dependence of Gilbert damping parameter α on H was determined and discussed.

The changes in local temperature occurring during spontaneous imbibition of columnar samples of dry natural zeolite with water were studied. The temperature pulses of 20-250 s duration and 3-40°C amplitude were registered and correlated with the wetting front motion observed with neutron radiography. The amplitude of the pulses was shown to increase with increasing ambient temperature. The broadening of the temperature pulse with increasing distance from the water supplied end of the samples was observed. The amplitude and the pulse width were found to depend substantially on the drying temperature of the material. The observed effect was attributed to the heat of immersion released in the sample at the moving wetting front.

Opis:
The changes in structural arrangement in transformer oil based magnetic fluids upon the effect of an external magnetic field and temperature were studied by acoustic spectroscopy. The attenuation of acoustic waves was measured as a function of an external magnetic field in the range of 0-300 mT, parallel to the direction of the field and as a function of temperature in the range of 15-35°C for various magnetic nanoparticles concentrations. The strong influence of the steeped magnetic field on the acoustic wave attenuation was detected and its hysteresis was observed, too. When a magnetic field is swept at a constant rate, the dominant interactions between the external magnetic field and the magnetic moment of the nanoparticles occur, leading to the aggregation of magnetic nanoparticles and clusters formation. However, the temperature of magnetic fluids has very important influence on the obtained dependences, where the mechanism of thermal motion acts against the cluster creation. The observed influences of magnetic field and temperature on the investigated magnetic liquids structure are discussed.

Opis:
The effect of an external magnetic field on the changes in structural arrangement of magnetic nanoparticles in water based magnetic fluid was studied by acoustic spectroscopy. When a magnetic field is increased, the interaction between the magnetic field and the magnetic moments of nanoparticles leads to the orientation of magnetic nanoparticles and their following aggregation to long chains that cause the increase of acoustic attenuation. The attenuation of acoustic waves measured for jump changes of the magnetic field to 100, 200, and 300 mT at temperature 20°C showed that the changes of acoustic attenuation increased slowly to a stabilized state that after switching off the magnetic field decreased immediately to initial value. The dependence of attenuation of acoustic waves at constant magnetic field on angle between the wave vector and direction of the applied magnetic field (attenuation anisotropy) has been measured, too. The measured anisotropy of acoustic attenuation attested structural changes of magnetic fluid in the magnetic field.

The aim of this work is to study spin-wave excitations in the row of interacting two-dimensional nanodots in the vortex state. We use a discrete dipole model taking into account the nearest-neighbour exchange and dipolar interactions. Magnetic configuration of each dot is assumed to form an in-plane vortex (circular magnetization). We examine the dependence of frequencies and profiles of spin-wave modes vs. the dipolar-to-exchange interaction ratio and the dot separation. Special attention is paid to some particular modes: lowest-frequency azimuthal modes and the fundamental mode, an analogue of the uniform excitation. Some conclusions regarding the influence of the size of dots the row consists of as well as the chirality of neighbouring vortices are provided too.

Special attention is paid to some particular modes, including the lowest mode in the spectrum and the fundamental mode, the frequency of which proves almost independent of d. In the case of the lowest mode different profiles are observed: azimuthal, fundamental (quasiuniform) or highly localized, depending on d and the size. We also study the fundamental mode evolution including its hybridization and explain the selection rules.

Opis:
The dynamics of magnetization in low-dimensional systems of micromagnets has been a very interesting subject of scientific studies last years. Excitations in such systems may have forms of normal modes. The frequency of the mode can be determined with the use of analytical methods as well as of micromagnetic numerical techniques. One of the latter is the Hamiltonian dynamical matrix method. The method is an analogue of that used to determine oscillations of atoms in crystal. The advantage of it is the possibility of calculating both of all frequencies and profiles of normal modes. Excitations in a finite system can depend on the size of it, as was noticed by experimentalists. The aim of this study is an analysis of eigenstates of the chain consisting of finite numbers of nanomagnets and dependence of states on orientation of magnetic moments and external magnetic field.

The dielectric behaviour of a magnetic fluid with magnetite particles dispersed in kerosene was analyzed. Therefore, the frequency (f) and temperature (T) dependences of the complex dielectric permittivity, ε (f, T), over the ranges 4 kHz to 2 MHz and 25C to 90C were measured. Based on the experimental results of ε (f, T) and using the Clausius-Mossotti equation, we have determined the temperature dependence of the real part of the total polarizability α', of a magnetic fluid. The computations have taken into account that the magnetic fluid consists of three components, namely magnetite particles, surfactant, and carrier liquid. The results show that at a given frequency, α' increases with temperature in the low frequency range (4 kHz to 100 kHz) and decreases with temperature above 100 kHz. This behaviour demonstrates that in low frequency range the polarization mechanism related to the deformation of the counter ions atmosphere around each particle is predominant and above 100 kHz the orientation of the dipole moments is the main polarization mechanism of the magnetic fluid. These measurements enabled the evaluation of the effective dipole moment of the magnetic fluid, in order of $1.21 \times 10^{-30} C m$.

In this paper the experimental study of the breakdown field strength in a transformer oil based ferrofluid is reported. The experiments are conducted on five ferrofluid samples with different magnetic volume fraction. The influence of external magnetic field on the breakdown field strength is investigated, when a quasi-homogenous magnetic field was applied in parallel and perpendicular configuration in regard to the electric field. The obtained results are analysed in accordance to the electron charging of ferrofluid nanoparticles theory.
