Opis:
The quantum interference is considered in time-dependent magnetic field that is quantum beats in mesoscopic loop structure. The similarities between this effect and Josephson, scalar Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher effects, as well as their differences are treated and a possible application of the effect to the construction of the device, complementary to SQUIDs, is analysed.

Opis:
A quantum dot with a single magnetic ion is a perfect model system to investigate spin dynamics of a magnetic ion embedded in semiconductor matrix. In this work we present results of spin dynamics studies of $Mn^{2+}$ ion embedded in CdSe quantum dot, performed under modulated excitation of the dot. In particular, the relaxation time of the $Mn^{2+}$ ion in high magnetic field was determined.

Opis:
The changes in dielectric parameters and structural arrangement of transformer oil based ferrofluid with magnetic nanoparticles upon the effect of an external magnetic field and an electric field were studied by dielectric spectroscopy. The frequency dependence of dissipation factor was measured within the frequency range from 1 mHz to 10 kHz by a capacitance method. In the presence of the magnetic field the interaction between the magnetic field and magnetic moments of nanoparticles led to the aggregation of nanoparticles. The electric field had also effects on the change in the electric dipole moment of particles by transfer of counterions. The observed low frequency relaxation maximum of dissipation factor was explained by Schwarz theory of electric double layer polarization. The shift of this maximum with the intensity of electric was caused by change of relaxation time of the nanoparticles-counterions systems.

Opis:
The changes in local temperature occurring during spontaneous imbibition of columnar samples of dry natural zeolite with water were studied. The temperature pulses of 20-250 s duration and 3-40°C amplitude were registered and correlated with the wetting front motion observed with neutron radiography. The amplitude of the pulses was shown to increase with increasing ambient temperature. The broadening of the temperature pulse with increasing distance from the water supplied end of the samples was observed. The amplitude and the pulse width were found to depend substantially on the drying temperature of the material. The observed effect was attributed to the heat of immersion released in the sample at the moving wetting front.

Opis:
The work is devoted to studies of ultrafast magnetization dynamics induced by femtosecond laser pulses in ferromagnetic Ni-Mn-Sn shape memory Heusler alloy. We studied epitaxial thin Ni_{54.3}Mn_{31.9}Sn_{13.8} film deposited on (001) MgO substrate. Spin precession in an external magnetic field was triggered and detected by the time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect (TRMOKE) using pump-probe technique in dual color scheme experiment. Measurements were performed as a function of magnetic field H and pulse power P. The measured TRMOKE signal is composed of oscillatory and background components, both decaying exponentially in a nanosecond time scale. The precession frequency was determined and found to be varying in the range of 1-10 GHz with H up to 3 kOe and decreasing linearly with P. The dependence of Gilbert damping parameter α on H was determined and discussed.

Opis:
The work concerns application of titanium-sapphire femtosecond laser oscillator with 82 MHz repetition rate at 800 nm in measurements of ultrafast magneto-optical and magnetization-induced second harmonic generation effects. Time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect pump-probe method was used in investigation of ultrafast precession of magnetization in Fe/Au multilayers. Magnetization precession frequency, obtained as a function of magnetic field applied, allows determining saturation magnetization and damping factor. The magnetization-induced second harmonic generation effect has been used for study of garnet films. This method allows to determine crystallographic symmetry and hysteresis loops in an external magnetic field at 2 ω laser induced frequency. The simultaneous measurements of linear and second order magneto-optical effects enable to investigate magnetic interfaces in the studied structures.
