In our paper we study effect of Mn for Fe substitution on magnetic properties of $NdFe_{x-1}Mn_{x}O_{3}$ compounds for x=0 and 0.1, which have been grown by the OFZ technique. The Néel temperature decreases from $T_{N1}$=691 K to $T_{N1}$=621 K, and the anomaly in AC susceptibility, related to spin reorientation, vanishes with Mn substitution. Low temperature heat capacity measurement for sample with x=0.1 revealed that substitution of Mn for Fe shifts a Schottky-type anomaly at $T_{sh}$ to higher temperatures. Another anomaly is generated by doping at $T_{max}$=11 K. The anomaly is smeared out by magnetic field, confirming its magnetic origin.

Opis:
Effect of pressure on magnetic properties of magnetic nanoparticles, based on Prussian blue analogues, were studied in pressures up to 1.2 GPa. The $Mn_3[Cr(CN)_6]_2 \cdot nH_2O$ and $Ni_3[Cr(CN)_6]_2 \cdot nH_2O$ nanoparticles were prepared by reverse micelle technique. Transmission electron microscopy images show nanoparticles with average diameter of about 3.5 nm embedded in an organic matrix. The characteristic X-ray peaks of nanoparticles are more diffused and broader. Systems of nanoparticles behave as systems of interacting magnetic particles. The Curie temperature $T_C$ is reduced from $T_C$ = 56 K for Ni-Prussian blue analogues to $T_C$ = 21 K for Ni-nanoparticles system and from $T_C$ = 65 K for Mn-Prussian blue analogues to $T_C$ = 38 K for Mn-nanoparticles system. One can explain this reduction of the Curie temperature and of the saturated magnetization $μ_s$ by dispersion of nanoparticles in an organic matrix i.e. by a dilution effect. Applied pressure leads to a remarkable increase in $T_C$ for system of Mn-nanoparticles (Δ$T_C$/Δp = +13 K/GPa) and to only slight decrease in $T_C$ for system of Ni-nanoparticles (Δ$T_C$/Δp = -3 K/GPa). The pressure effect follows behavior of the mother Prussian blue analogues under pressure. The increase in saturated magnetization, attributed to compression of the organic matrix, is very small.

Opis:
A theoretical study of magnetocrystalline anisotropy controlled by in-plane lattice symmetry distortions is presented. The uniaxial strain, only presumed by earlier studies in order to model the observed uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, has recently become an experimentally accessible parameter. We show that the lithographically induced strain can compete with intrinsic symmetry breaking, easy axes can take general in-plane directions, and anisotropy fields scale linearly with strain for typical experimental strain magnitudes. Our results are in qualitative agreement with experimental results.

Iron-oxide nanoparticles were nanocasted in the periodic mesoporous silica matrix, consisting of two-dimensional hexagonally ordered channel system with the mean diameter of the channels about 7 nm. The magnetic measurements of dc magnetization confirm behavior typical of a superparamagnetic system, such as the irreversibility of the zero-field-cooled and field-cooled curves, presence of a maximum in zero-field-cooled curve related with blocking temperature $T_C$ and revealing of coercivity $H_C$ below $T_C$. The existence of negative exchange bias effect below $T_C$ was confirmed in our system represented by value of exchange bias field $H_{EB}$=-970 Oe measured at the temperature 2 K.

Nanosized iron-gold magnetic nanoparticles with an average particle size 10 nm were prepared by a reverse micelle method. The magnetic properties measurements of DC and AC magnetization confirm behaviour typical of a superparamagnetic system, such as the irreversibility of the zero-field-cooled and field-cooled curves, the frequency dependence of a blocking temperature $T_B$, and revealing of coercivity H_C below blocking temperature. The quantitative analysis of AC susceptibility due to value of parameter $C_1$ = Δ$T_B$/($T_B$ Δ log f)=0.0242 confirming the existence of inter-particle interaction in our system.

Opis:
We present a simple magnetic model for PrAl$\text{}_{3}$. The effects of crystal field are treated using a reduced set of levels and the corresponding wave functions are extracted from the actual crystal field levels of Pr$\text{}^{+3}$ in a hexagonal symmetry. The exchange between 4f- and conduction-electrons are dealt within a molecular field approximation. An analytical magnetic state equation is derived and the magnetic behaviour discussed. The parameters of the model are estimated from a fitting of the inverse susceptibility of PrAl$\text{}_{3}$ given in the literature.

Magnetization measurements were performed on the $(Cu_{x}Mn_{1-x})_3[Cr(CN)_6]_2$ · $zH_2O$ molecule-based magnets where x=0.0, 0.2, 0.25, 0.3, 0.35 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0. Both the Curie temperature and saturated magnetization at first decrease with increasing value of x reaching the minimal value of $T_{C}$ = 49.7 K and 0.17 $μ_{B}$ for x=0.2 and then increase with substitution. The pronounced hysteretic behavior between zero-field cooled and field cooled regimes was observed for all samples. Magnetization changes the sign of magnetic polarization in zero-field cooled magnetization curve at the compensation temperature $T_\text{comp}$ = 16 K for sample with x = 0.4. Our results indicate that the system behaves as mixed-ferri-ferromagnetic system.

Opis:
Structural and magnetic properties (such as e.g. size of crystallites, lattice parameter, magnetic susceptibility, Curie temperature, etc.) of nano-sized $Ni_{0.33}Zn_{0.67}Fe_{2}O_{4}$ ferrites have been studied. The obtained results demonstrated that the sintering temperature is an efficient and simple tool for controlling the size of crystallite particles, thus affecting the resulting magnetic properties. Straightforward relationship between the sintering temperature and the size of crystallites was found, meanwhile no other crystalline phases than the spinel one were detected by two independent analytic methods.

X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements of $RNi_5Sn$ (R = Pr, Nd) compounds are reported. These compounds crystallize in the hexagonal $CeNi_5Sn$-type structure. Magnetic data indicate that both compounds are antiferromagnet with the Néel temperatures $T_{N}$ equal to 24 K (R = Pr) and 8.8 K (R = Nd). The magnetic data below $T_{N}$ suggest the complex magnetic order.

X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements of $R_2Ni_{2 - x}In$ (R = Ho, Dy, x = 0.3 and R = Gd, Tb, Er, x = 0.22) compounds are reported. The compounds crystallize in the tetragonal $Mo_2FeB_2$-type crystal structure (space group P4/mbm). Magnetic measurements reveal antiferromagnetic order with the Néel temperatures $T_{N}$ equal to 26.4 K (Gd), 20.2 K (Tb), 8.3 K (Dy), 7.1 K (Ho), and 6.3 K (Er). For R = Gd, Tb and Er an additional phase transition below $T_{N}$ is observed at 13.5, 13.1, and 5.0 K, respectively.

We report on the transitions between the ferromagnetic order, spin-glass behavior, heavy fermion and fluctuating valence state in a series of isostructural compounds $CeT_4M$ (T = Ni, Cu; M = Al, Ga, Mn). The dilution of Ce or the T and M elements allowed us to follow the physical properties evolution employing the measurements of the heat capacity, dc magnetic susceptibility, frequency dependent ac magnetic susceptibility, magnetization relaxation, inelastic neutron scattering and also the X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. It is shown that the Mn rich compounds lean towards the spin glass behavior. For the compounds governed by the close to localization Ce 4f states the effect of the crystal electric field has been studied. It has been shown that the spin glass-like behavior can significantly influence the physics of the $CeT_4M$ compounds.

We have investigated the magnetic behavior of magnetite nanoparticles covered by the 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid around magnetite core prepared by a standard co-precipitation method. The particles show superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature, with transition to a blocked state at blocking temperature 91 K estimated from zero field cooled and field cooled at 500 Oe experiment. The hysteresis loop measured at 293 K showed magnetization 32.8 emu/g at 50 kOe without any coercivity. The mean particle size (7.1 nm) was determined by fitting a magnetization curve obtained at 295 K assuming a log-normal size distribution.

The anisotropy of several PVA/magnetosomes magnetically textured films has been investigated from the point of view of magnetic properties. The thin film synthesized under the influence of a magnetic field (99 mT) shows the typical behavior of an anisotropic material. On sample textured in magnetic field the magnetisation loop measurements were performed in dependence on the direction of the external magnetic field with respect to the texture axis. The results of hysteresis measurements show that the magnetic field applied during the synthesis promotes an orientation of the chains of magnetosomes and permanently textured film is obtained after solidification. The obtained values for magnetic remanence and coercivity were dependent on the external magnetic field orientation and the alignment effect of particle moments may be clearly seen which is in agreement with the theoretical model of magnetic particle chains.

The magnetic properties including the magnetic structure were determined by magnetometric and neutron diffraction measurements of the polycrystalline samples of R$\text{}_{2}$ PdSi$\text{}_{3}$ (R = Ce, Nd, Tb-Er). In Ce$\text{}_{2}$PdSi$\text{}_{3}$ the Ce moments order below 2.5 K. The Nd magnetic moments in Nd$\text{}_{2}$PdSi$\text{}_{3}$ exhibit ferromagnetic ordering below 17 K. In Tb$\text{}_{2}$PdSi$\text{}_{3}$, a complex situation is observed: in the temperature range from 1.5 K to (T$\text{}_{N}$=25 K), there is a coexistence of a ferromagnetic spiral (about 75% of the magnetic moment) and a spin-glass (about 25%). For the Dy, Ho, and Er compounds, below T$\text{}_{N}$ (7.5, 8, and 7 K respectively), sinusoidally modulated structures are observed. The valence band and the core level photoemissions of 4d of rare-earth metal, 3d Pd, 2s and 2p Si were investigated by X-ray photoemission spectroscopy measurements.
