Opis:
The semimetallic quasi-one-dimensional S=1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet Yb$\text{}_{4}$As$\text{}_{3}$ was studied by low-temperature measurements of the specific heat C(T,B), thermal expansion α(T,B), and thermal conductivity ĸ(T,B). At finite magnetic fields (B≤12 T) we observed the following distinct anomalies: (1) the magnon contribution to C(T,0), γ T, with large coefficient γ ≈ 200 mJ/(K$\text{}^{2}$mol), becomes strongly reduced with field, and (2) a broad hump in C(T,B=const) is induced at slightly higher temperatures. (3) The latter corresponds to a pronounced peak in α(T,B=const) as well as (4) to a broad minimum in ĸ(T,B= const)/ĸ(T,0). These anomalies are well described by the classical sine-Gordon solution of a one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet with a weak easy-plane anisotropy. However, the soliton-rest energy deduced from the experimental results depends on the magnetic field like E$\text{}_{S}$ ~ B$\text{}^{ν}$, with an exponent ν ≈ 0.66, while the classical sine-Gordon model requires ν=1. Thus, our results suggest an alternative description of soliton excitations in an antiferromagnetic S=1/2 Heisenberg chain in terms of the quantum sine-Gordon model, for which an exponent ν=2/3 is appropriate.

Opis:
In the preceding paper we have considered an Ising model defined on tangled chain to study the behaviour of the free energy and entropy, particularly in the zero-field and zero-temperature limit. In this paper, following the main line and basing on some results of the previous work, we shall study in the "language" of state configurations the behaviour of the magnetization and the susceptibility for different conditions of the model, to understand better the competition between the ferromagnetic bonds along the chain and the antiferromagnetic additional bonds across the chain. Particularly interesting is the behaviour of the susceptibility in the zero-field and zero-temperature limit. Exact solutions for the magnetization and susceptibility, generated by analytical calculations and iterative algorithms, are described. The additional bonds, introduced as a form of perfect disorder, indicate a particular effect on the spin correlation. We found that the condition J = -J' between the ferromagnetic interaction J along the chain and the antiferromagnetic interaction J' across the chain is somewhat as a "transition-region" condition for this behaviour.

Opis:
In this paper we have considered an Ising model defined on tangled chain, in which more bonds have been added to those of pure Ising chain. To understand their competition, particularly between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic bonds, we have studied, using the transfer matrix method, some simple analytical calculations and an iterative algorithm, the behaviour of the free energy and entropy, particularly in the zero-field and zero-temperature limit, for different configurations of the ferromagnetic tangled chain and different types of additional interactions (ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic). We found that the condition J = -J' between the ferromagnetic interaction J along the chain and the antiferromagnetic interaction J' across the chain is somewhat as a "transition region" condition for this behaviour. Our results indicate also the existence of nonzero entropy at zero temperature.

Opis:
Evolution of structure and magnetic order is studied in the $\text{}^{57}Fe_{81}Mo_{8}Cu_{1}B_{10}$ alloy by conversion electron and conversion X-ray $\text{}^{57}Fe$ Mössbauer spectrometry. Surface features exhibit differences at both sides of ribbon-shaped samples with respect to the screening depth. In the as-quenched state, traces of magnetite (in addition to bcc-Fe) are revealed only at the wheel side of the ribbon to the depth of about 200 nm. It is present also after annealing up to 510 °C, then it disappears. In deeper regions (down to 1 μm), magnetite is less abundant. At the air side, only bcc-Fe is detected, though the progress of crystallization is more pronounced here than at the wheel side. Vibration properties of the bulk of amorphous and nanocrystalline samples are obtained from experiments of nuclear inelastic scattering of synchrotron radiation using partial densities of phonon states.

Opis:
We consider the statistics of the impedance Z of a chaotic microwave cavity coupled to a single port. We remove the non-universal effects of the coupling from the experimental Z data using the radiation impedance obtained directly from the experiments. We thus obtain the normalized impedance whose probability density function is predicted to be universal in that it depends only on the loss (quality factor) of the cavity. We find that impedance fluctuations decrease with increasing loss. The results apply to scattering measurements on any wave chaotic system.

Opis:
We present optimization of energy transfer in the waveguide-supplied metal-cylinder-based microwave plasma module with an inner cylindrical quartz tube. The construction of microwave plasma module is based on a WR 340 waveguide standard. Presented microwave plasma module operates at atmospheric pressure and frequency of 2.45 GHz. There is a reduced height section waveguide in microwave plasma module which provides local increase of the electric field in the plasma region. Microwave plasma module is terminated with a movable plunger which plays the role of the tuning element. Tuning characteristics of microwave plasma module are defined as the dependence of the $P_{R}$/$P_{I}$ on the position $l_{s}$ of the movable plunger, where $P_{R}$ and $P_{I}$ are the microwave power reflected and power incident, respectively. The powers $P_{R}$ and $P_{I}$ are measured in the input plane of microwave plasma module. The purpose of the presented optimization is to achieve $P_{R}$ lower than 5% of $P_{I}$ in widest range of position of movable plunger $l_{s}$. We used Comsol Multiphysics software to make numerical analysis which allows to optimize the parameters of microwave plasma module. Results of numerical analysis show that $P_{R}$/$P_{I}$ is lower than 0.05 in a wide range of movable plunger position $l_{s}$.
