Opis:
Results of research connected with determining the degree of implementation of 5S practices in ceramics industry are discussed in this paper. Direct survey with employees of companies plus expert interview was used in the research. A 21 point scale was used to assess the degree of implementation the 5S practices at individual stages of the manufacturing process. The specificity of production in ceramics industry enforces maintaining the regime of cleanliness during production. The research revealed that the level of conscious implementation of the 5S practices in companies depends on the culture of organization and the degree of involvement of employees in the improvement actions in their company. The presented results are a part of the research aimed at determining reference requirements for companies in terms of implementation and making use of the Lean Management (LM) instruments.

5S jest jednym z narzędzi Lean Management pozwalającym w efektywny sposób zorganizować stanowisko pracy. Można je zastosować we wszystkich obszarach działalności przedsiębiorstwa. W artykule, w oparciu o przeprowadzone badania literaturowe oraz zdobyte doświadczenie, zaprezentowano teoretyczny opis Lean Management i 5 S oraz przedstawiono analizę przypadku wdrożenia narzędzia w przedsiębiorstwie. Następnie zidentyfikowano problemy, które występują podczas zastosowania 5S.

The ribosome is a macromolecular assembly that is responsible for protein biosynthesis in all organisms. It is composed of two-subunit, ribonucleoprotein particles that translate the genetic material into an encoded polypeptides. The small subunit is the site of codon-anticodon interaction between the messenger RNA (mRNA) and transfer RNA (tRNA) substrates, and the large subunit catalyses peptide bond formation. The peptidyltransferase activity is fulfilled by 23S rRNA, which means that ribosome is a ribozyme. 5S rRNA is a conserved component of the large ribosomal subunit that is thought to enhance protein synthesis by stabilizing ribosome structure. This paper shortly summarises new results obtained on the structure and function of 5S rRNA.

The Japanese 5S method is the basis for optimizing processes in the enterprises. An example of the practices in the logistics enterprise is presented. These practices are an important prerequisite for successful work in the enterprise and have a positive impact on the implementation of the 5S system and other methods. 5S contributes to the development of the learning organization with employees. 5S practise is one of the techniques to improve quality and safety and health at the workplace. It was first popularized by Taiichi Ohno, who designed the Toyota Production System and Shigeo Shingo, who also put forward the concept of poka-yoke. The article presents Lean 5S methodology and selected results of research on performance and interference, before and after implementation of the 5S method in the logistic enterprise. The purpose of this paper is to implement the 5S and principles to assist manufacturing organisations to become more efficient and more productive. The case study presented in the paper will be useful to researchers, professionals and others concerned with this subject to understand the significance of 5S and Lean.

Opis:
The paper contains proposals of improvement concerning implementation of the 5S method. For that purpose there were used some selected techniques of manufacturing management: team work as well as the cause and effect Ishikawa diagram. The analysis of a pilot implementation was done in one of companies located in south–east Poland by a team which consisted of workers involved in that implementation and external experts. The results of analysis were used for the improvement of approach to implementation of the 5S method in the company. Presented methodology as well as obtained results can assist in implementation of the method in other companies.

W artykule zaprezentowano praktyczne aspekty wdrażania metody 5-S, bezpośrednio związanej z problematyką doskonalenia jakości i bezpieczeństwa pracy. Metoda ta stanowi podstawę efektywnego, zgodnego z koncepcją lean management, zarządzania w przedsiębiorstwie. Przybliżono pięć kolejnych etapów metody, stanowiących proste działania zapewniające przedsiębiorstwom realne korzyści. Celem opracowania jest zaprezentowanie konkretnego i praktycznego rozwiązania możliwego do zastosowania na każdym z etapów wdrażania metody 5S, które jako całość bezpośrednio wpływają na doskonalenie jakości i bezpieczeństwa na stanowisku pracy.
The article presents practical aspects of the implementation of the 5-S method directly related to improving the quality and safety of work. This method is the basis for effective, consistent with the concept of lean management, enterprise management. The article brought closer five consecutive steps of the method, which are simple measures to ensure benefits for businesses. The aim of this paper is to present a concrete and practical solution possible to apply at each stage of the implementation of the 5S method, which as an entirety has a direct impact on improving the quality and safety in the workplace.

Lean manufacturing definiuje się jako filozofię zarządzania, zgodnie z którą przedsiębiorstwo dąży do optymalnego wykorzystania zasobów pracy. Obecnie istnieje wiele specyficznych metod i narzędzi zarządzania, które mają na celu poprawę operacji logistycznych i produkcyjnych. Jedną z nich niewątpliwie jest metoda 5S. Wdrożenie zasad 5S w przedsiębiorstwie nie wymaga dużych nakładów. Jest to prosty i zrozumiały system, który w krótkim czasie może przynieść wymierne korzyści. 5S obejmuje: usprawnienie procesów, poprawienie płynność pracy, zwiększenie terminowości, redukcję niepotrzebnych zapasów, poprawienie przepływu informacji i komunikacji oraz zmniejszenie liczby wypadków. Artykuł prezentuje praktyczny aspekt zastosowania narzędzia 5S w domu – na przykładzie lodówki. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie przykładu organizacji lodówki za pomocą wykorzystania metody 5S. Autorki przedstawiły 5 etapów metody 5S wdrażanych w tym urządzeniu. Dzięki dokładnemu opisowi podjętych działań, autorki starały się przedstawić prostotę wdrożenia metody oraz korzyści, które płyną w związku z implementacją. Metoda ta została przedstawiona jako narzędzie służące oszczędności czasu i pieniędzy.
Lean manufacturing is defined as management philosophy according to which a company strives to use its labor and machinery resources in the optimal way. Nowadays, there are many specific methods and tools of quality management to improve both logistics and production operations. One of them is indubitably the concept of 5S. The implementation of its principles in the enterprise does not require large expenditure. This is a simple and understandable system, which can bring tangible benefits within a short amount of time. The 5S principles include: processes streamlining, improving job liquidity, increasing the timelines, reducing unnecessary interventions, improving communication, reducing the number of defects and accidents. The article presents the practical aspect of 5S method’s implementation at home on the basis of the fridge. The goal of the article is to show an example of the fridge organization with the use of 5S method. This particular method is presented as money and time saving tool.

A continuous technological progress forces an improvement of the production process. The article describes the sole beginning of changes in the process of tires retreading on the 5S management method with regard to health and safety standards. The authors point out that the process of the production of retreaded tires is associated with the relationship between a man and a machine. The process improvement can dispense only by improving the machines but it should also pay attention to the man. The improvement of the production process must precede the audit, which can show areas that require intervention. Any such change in the production process cannot be performed without the participation of health and safety inspector, because his knowledge, skills and competence are able to determine whether the proposed changes interfere with the level of safety at the workplace. The authors emphasize that the process of production improvement production should be compatible with the process of improving the health and safety of workers involved in the production process. The combination of 5S audit with health and safety standards results in a holistic approach to the improvement process.

The aim of the study was to identify the problems and improve the production of cement in a ball mill in terms of technology and management associated with the use of known methods and techniques to improve quality. A detailed analysis helped to explain the process which affects the efficiency of grinding cement and which is the most common cause of disturbance and incompatibilities in the process of milling, how the production process is managed and controlled in order to obtain the required grain size, which is the main parameter influencing the quality of the manufactured product. To manage the change of the process there has been used a value stream map for analysis of the intermediate process of cement production, transport to the silos, bagging and selling. Based on the research some proposals of the process improvement have been designed that might have a chance of implementation and execution.

Following article concerns a topic of quality improvement realized by a concept of continuous improvement – Kaizen. The main goal of the article is to analyze of practical usage of Kaizen, in terms of elimination all waste and continuous improvement. The article is divided into two parts: theoretical and cognitive ones. In the first part of it, the authors described lean philosophy and continuous improvement concept (Kaizen), which are signs to overall company improvement. The cognitive part of the article concerns presentation of practical usage of Kaizen concept rules in chosen automotive sector company. This is a worldwide company with its subsidiary in Poland in Bielsko-Biała. Its main specialization are casts. The company specializes in casting of high complex aluminum components such as: cylinder heads, engine blocks, transmission parts and structural components. The authors used case study method and formulated following research problems: features of Kaizen team, basic rules of Kaizen team, plan of Kaizen action and tools used during Kaizen action. Kaizen actions in analyzed company are realized during so-called “Kaizen week”. There is a team built from the company’s employees. As their effect (Kaizen actions) exact solutions of quality problems are formulated. The company leads also so-called “after Kaizen” actions, which are used in a case of problems which require longer time for their elimination. According to the Kaizen philosophy all activities realized in the company in quality area have continuous character.
Artykuł dotyczy tematyki doskonalenia jakości, które może być realizowane w przedsiębiorstwie za pomocą koncepcji ciągłego doskonalenia Kaizen. Główny cel artykułu kon-centruje się na analizie praktycznego zastosowania koncepcji Kaizen w celu eliminacji marnotrawstwa i ciągłego doskonalenia obszarów działalności przedsiębiorstwa. Rozdział został podzielony na dwie części: teoretyczną i poznawczą. W pierwszej, teoretycznej części, autorzy opisali filozofię lean z jej kluczową częścią – koncepcją ciągłego doskonalenia Kaizen, będących znakami do doskonalenia przedsiębiorstwa. Poznawcza część artykułu dotyczy przedstawienia praktycznego zastosowania zasad koncepcji Kaizen w wybranym przedsiębiorstwie branży motoryzacyjnej. Jest to międzynarodowe przedsiębiorstwo z zakładem produkcyjnym w Polsce, w Bielsku-Białej. Przedsiębiorstwo to specjalizuje się w odlewach aluminiowych części silników, jak: cylindry, bloki silnika oraz części skrzyń biegów, dla światowych producentów samochodów. Jako metodę badawczą, autorzy zastosowali metodę analizy przypadku (case study) oraz sformułowali obszary badawcze, tj.: cechy zespołu Kaizen, zasady zespołu Kaizen, plan działań Kaizen oraz narzędzia stosowane w ramach tych działań. Działania Kaizen w analizowanym przedsiębiorstwie mają charakter tzw. „tygodnia z Kaizen” i są realizowane przez zespół pracowników, wyłączonych na ten czas ze swoich codziennych obowiązków. Efektem ich pracy są propozycje usprawnień w analizowanych obszarach. Działania Kaizen obejmują także tzw. czas „after Kaizen”, kiedy dane rozwiązanie wymaga dłuższego czasu implementacji. Zgodnie z filozofią Kaizen wszystkie działania podejmowane w przedsiębiorstwie mają charakter ciągły.

Kształtowanie środowiska pracy w przestrzeni produkcyjnej to bardzo ważny aspekt z punktu widzenia zarówno bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy, jak i efektywności czy ciągłości procesów produkcyjnych. Modelowanie warunków na stanowisku pracy odnosi się przede wszystkim do przestrzegania zapisów prawnych i minimalizowania oddziaływania różnych czynników na pracownika. W świetle nowoczesnych technik zarządzania pełen pakiet rozwiązań do doskonalenia środowiska pracy zawiera koncepcja lean management, wspierana przez narzędzia, metody i koncepcje, takie jak: metoda 5S, kaizen czy ciągłe doskonalenie. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań mających na celu określenie poziomu zrozumienia podstawowych zasad lean management przez pracowników przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych.
Shaping the working environment in the production space is a very important aspect both from the point of view of occupational health and safety, as well as efficiency and production processes continuity. Modeling conditions at the workplace relates primarily to compliance with legal provisions and minimizing the impact of various factors on the employee. In the light of modern management techniques, the full package of solutions for improving the work environment includes the concept of lean management supported by tools, methods and concepts, such as the 5S method, kaizen, continuous improvement. This paper presents the results of research aimed at determining the level of the lean management basic principles understanding by employees from manufacturing companies.

Paper presents a proposal for improvement of implementation concerning one of Lean Manufacturing (LM) tools, in particular 5S method. For that purpose there was applied Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in simplified form. A test analysis concerning implementation of the 5S method in one of Subcarpathian companies was performed by a team consisting of workers involved in that implementation of and external experts. Results of that analysis showed that the biggest difficulties playing role in implementation of the FMEA are the ones associated with laziness of workers and shortage of understanding advisability of 5S implementation. Obtained results are aimed at improving implementation of the 5S method in the company. They might be, however, also helpful in implementation of that method in other enterprises.

In eukaryotes, ribosomal 5S rRNAs are products of multigene families organized within clusters of tandemly repeated units. Accumulation of genomic data obtained from a variety of organisms demonstrated that the potential 5S rRNA coding sequences show a large number of variants, often incompatible with folding into a correct secondary structure. Here, we present results of an analysis of a large set of short RNA sequences generated by the next generation sequencing techniques, to address the problem of heterogeneity of the 5S rRNA transcripts in Arabidopsis and identification of potentially functional rRNA-derived fragments.

Currently entrepreneurs have the opportunity to use many methods and tools that support production management, quality and improvement of working safety. A method worth paying attention to is the 5S method, which brings order and discipline to the workplace. The article presents practical aspects of the implementation of the 5S method using five simple steps that give the real benefits to a company. Particularly the specific solutions that can be applied at every stage of the implementation of the 5S method is indicated. Also innovative ways of conducting internal audits are presented. In addition, a model for the implementation of the 5S concept was proposed, which supports maintaining the healthy standards at a high level. It has been pointed out that the implementation of 5S rules must be constantly monitored and improved. Therefore, supervision and motivational activities are particularly important, especially from the side of leaders and managers represented an organization.

The article presents the main aspects which require attention when optimizing and improving the manufacturing process, i.e.: the human resources aspect, the technical aspect and the organizational aspect.
