Opis:
In this study structural strength and fatigue life estimation of Y32 bogie frame were examined by finite element method. A static structural and fatigue life simulation were performed according to TS EN 13749 standard. The results of the static structural and fatigue life simulations depicted that Y32 bogie manufactured by Tuvasas achieved the regulations.

Opis:
Growing interest in the use of magnetic fluids in power systems especially in transformers as insulation and a coolant is nowadays registered. Magnetisable nanofluids, which are used in cooling systems as an alternative to mineral transformer oil, are characterized by lower concentration of magnetic nanoparticles. The magnetic fluid has better heat transfer and dielectric properties such as breakdown than mineral transformer oil and it can be used to improve heat flow, thereby increasing the ability of the active parts to resist failures such as electromagnetic pulses. External magnetic field may be used for forced circulation of magnetic fluid. Magnetic force inside the magnetic fluid can be adequately controlled by adjusting the incident magnetic field. This paper presents thermal distribution, fluid flow and cooling ability of mineral transformer oil and magnetic fluid based on mineral transformer oil. The concentration of Fe₃O₄ magnetic nanoparticles is 0.15% volume of mineral transformer oil. The thermal field is generated by a steel conductor. Thermal distributions in mineral transformer oil and magnetic fluid are investigated and differences for both cases are discussed in the paper.

Opis:
The design of aircraft wings can be examined in two ways, namely, by aerodynamic analysis and by structural analysis. In aerodynamic terms, the wing is expected to display such features as maximum lifting load, minimum drag force, and high stall performance; in structural terms, it is desired to be light, robust, and away from vibration effects. In this paper optimization of the wing aerodynamic analysis of a private jet plane has been performed. Wing simulation was conducted with Ansys-Fluent program, whereas optimization of design criteria was realised using genetic algorithm. Design criteria determined in parametric terms have been optimized with genetic algorithm, which was written in Python, inside the Ansys-Workbench. Python was not sufficient on its own for the realization of the genetic algorithm and for control of the Ansys modules, as a result, it was assisted with Javascript and Journaling. The developed method can be used in a variety of design applications.

Opis:
Traditional masonry buildings, commonly built in Turkey, are one of the important items of cultural heritage. There are many important historical buildings in the east part of Turkey. One of the important locations in east of Turkey is Kilis. In this study, Kilis houses of original types in terms of architectural and functionality, were examined regarding the effects of an earthquake. Therefore, five traditional Kilis houses were examined and the buildings were modeled using SAP2000 finite element software. The models were investigated with different materials such as stone, brick, pumice and cellular concrete material. Time history analyses were performed for the modeled buildings, with three different ground motion records. Displacement values, compressive stresses, tensile stresses, shear stresses and base shear values, obtained from the analysis results were examined in detail. When the results of the study were evaluated, earthquake resistance of buildings was was found to be high and the displacements values were not at a significant level.
