Opis:
The squeezing and sub-Poissonian effects of light in third harmonic generation are investigated based on the fully quantum mechanical approach up to the first order Hamiltonian interaction in gt, where g is the coupling constant between the modes per second and t is the interaction time between the waves during the process in a nonlinear medium. The coupled Heisenberg equations of motion involving real and imaginary parts of the quadrature operators are established. The occurrence of amplitude squeezing effects in both the quadratures of the radiation field in the fundamental mode is investigated and found to be dependent on the selective phase values of the field amplitude. The photon statistics of the pump mode in this process have also been investigated and found to be sub-Poissonian in nature. It is shown that for particular phase values the amplitude squeezing and sub-Poissonian photon statistics of light occur simultaneously. It is observed that there is no possibility to produce squeezed light in the harmonic mode up to first-order interaction in gt. Further, it is found that the normal squeezing in the harmonic mode directly depends upon the amplitude-cubed squeezing of the initial pump field to the case of second-order interaction in gt. This gives a method of converting higher-order (amplitude-cubed) squeezing of the fundamental mode into normal squeezing of the harmonic mode and vice versa.

Opis:
We shall discuss the central role played in the quantum information theory by entanglement. A generalized version of Bell's theorem will be presented, as well as methods in multiphoton interferometry to obtain correlations violating the Bell inequalities. Finally, we shall present some quantum informational applications of entanglement.

Opis:
A free photon Hamiltonian is linearized using Pauli's matrices. Based on the correspondence of Pauli's matrices kinematics and the kinematics of spin operators, it has been proved that a free photon integral of motion is a sum of orbital momentum and spin momentum for a half-one spin. Linearized Hamiltonian represents a bilinear form of products of spin and momentum operators. Unitary transformation of this form results in an equivalent Hamiltonian, which has been analyzed by the method of Green's functions. The evaluated Green function has given possibility for interpretation of photon reflection as a transformation of photon to antiphoton with energy change equal to double energy of photon and for spin change equal to Dirac's constant. Since photon is relativistic quantum object the exact determining of its characteristics is impossible. It is the reason for series of experimental works in which photon orbital momentum, which is not integral of motion, was investigated. The exposed theory was compared to the mentioned experiments and in some elements the satisfactory agreement was found.

Opis:
We illustrate the physics of two-frequency lasers by two examples. The first example illustrates the fundamental consequences of the existence of two eigenstates on the laser line width. We indeed show experimentally that the non-orthogonality of these two eigenstates results in an increase in the laser quantum noise. We also give a physical explanation of this vectorial excess noise factor. The second example illustrates the capabilities of two-frequency lasers in terms of applications. In the domain of RF frequency generation by optical means, we show how a pulsed two-frequency source can be built for lidar-radar applications and pulsed RF frequency generation.
