Opis:
In this study, the author attempts to raise the issue of Europeanisation of national procedural law as exemplified by the right to file a complaint by environmental organizations in administrative court proceedings under Polish and German law. The process of Europeanisation takes place in all areas of national law, also in the absence of a clear competence for the European Union to establish a specific type of legislation. The right to file a complaint by environmental organisations is objective in nature. The implementation of EU regulations in German law resulted from the necessity to introduce a completely different model of the right to file a complaint than the right that has already been in force, i.e. the subjective right. The Polish legislator also had to reshape the form of the right to file a complaint by environmental organisations, which, in essence, differs significantly from the form of the right of social organisation, despite classification of environmental organisations into a group of social organisations.

Opis:
This paper provides an entropy analysis to resonant and short pulses propagation in four-level atomic medium. As an example, we take D_{1} transition in rubidium ^{87}Rb atoms including hyperfine structure. We show how to construct the time dependent Bloch-metric for each optical transition in the Liouville space. Furthermore, we attempt to relate local stabilization of the pulse area to the distribution of the space-entropy.

Normalized quantum Stokes operators introduced in Phys. Rev. A 95, 042113 (2017) enable one to better observe non-classical correlations of entangled states of optical fields with undefined photon numbers. For a given run of an experiment the new quantum Stokes operators are defined by the differences of the measured intensities (or photon numbers) at the exits of a polarizer divided by their sum. It is this ratio that is to be averaged, and not the numerator and the denominator separately, as it is in the conventional approach. The new approach allows to construct more robust entanglement indicators against photon-loss noise, which can detect entangled optical states in situations in which witnesses using standard Stokes operators fail. Here we show an extension of this approach beyond phenomena linked with polarization. We discuss EPR-like experiments involving correlations produced by optical beams in a multi-mode bright squeezed vacuum state. EPR-inspired entanglement conditions for all prime numbers of modes are presented. The conditions are much more resistant to noise due to photon loss than similar ones which employ standard Glauber-like intensity, correlations.

The article presents the concept solution of two main issues of visible light communication systems, i.e. the lack of a cost-effective feedback channel and the handling of high throughput. The concept is based on merging of the multiple input multiple output approach, well-known from radio transmission domain, with using of LEDs in a double role, i.e. both as emitters and detectors of light. The feasibility of the proposal was confirmed by the results of the research, carried out for two-channel system of this type.

Opis:
A compact soft X-ray microscope based on a nitrogen double-stream gas puff target soft X-ray source, operating at He-like nitrogen spectral line at the wavelength of λ =2.88 nm is presented. The desk-top size microscope was successfully demonstrated in transmission mode using the Fresnel zone-plate objective and it is suitable for soft X-ray source microscopy in the "water window" spectral range (λ = 2.3÷ 4.4 nm). Details about the soft X-ray source source, the microscope and an example of application in the biomedical field are shown and discussed.

Contextuality is one of the fundamental deviations of quantum mechanics from classical physics. The Kochen-Specker theorem shows that non-contextual classical physics with hidden variables is inconsistent with the predictions of quantum mechanics. Parity proof is one of the many different approaches applied to prove Kochen-Specker theorem for quantum system with different dimensionality. This method of proof requires Kochen-Specker sets that were composed of an odd number of bases and an even number of projectors. In most of the cases, the number of Kochen-Specker sets produced is large and its production is generally aided by computer calculation. However, manual generation of the Kochen-Specker sets are also reported previously for qutrit and two-qubit systems. We put forward the first and surprisingly simple method to generate manually Kochen-Specker sets, with respect to the Mermin pentagram, that can be used for the parity proof of the Kochen-Specker theorem in a state space of eight-dimensional three-qubit system.

Opis:
The luminescence of single and two exciton states in a quantum dot embedded in the active layer of a micropillar cavity has been investigated. Temperature tuning has been used to bring the energy states of the quantum dot and the cavity into resonance. Studying the resonance behavior of the exciton and biexciton transitions with cavity mode revealed a similar Purcell effect for both lines. The cavity-induced changes of the respective radiative lifetimes have been shown to allow for controlling the ratio between the single and two exciton occupation and their relative emission rates in a single quantum dot.

Pure and undoped strontium-barium niobate Sr_{0.40}Ba_{0.60}Nb₂O₆ (SBN40) single crystals grown by the Czochralski method were investigated by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The study below T_{C} (429 K for SBN40) confirmed the structure with P4bm space group. Above this temperature the structure transforms into the paraelectric, centrosymmetric one with P4/mbm space group. Analysis of the recorded diffraction patterns allowed to observe several signs of crystal structure modulation. On the registered diffraction images satellite reflections were found. A modulation vector q=(δ,±δ,), where δ=0.3075(6) (at room temperature) was found and it was similar to that occurring in the SBN61. In addition, above the phase transition temperature on the (hk) planes with l integer a weak diffuse scattering was observed.

In this work, we discuss theoretically the formation of the Tamm plasmon/exciton-polariton hybrid states in an (Al,Ga)As microcavity and their modulation by surface acoustic waves. The modulation of the Tamm plasmon/exciton-polariton states origins in the change of the excitonic band gap energy and the thickness change of the sample structure layers due to the induced strain fields by surface acoustic waves. The frequency f_{SAW} of the acoustic modulation of the Tamm plasmon/exciton-polariton states is limited by the thickness of the upper distributed Bragg reflector. For the Tamm plasmon/exciton-polariton states in Al_xGa_{1-x}As/GaAs structures f_{SAW} is in the range of 370 MHz while f_{SAW} in GHz range is possible for the parametric Tamm plasmon/exciton-polariton states. In both cases, the acoustic modulation is several meV for typical acoustic power levels.

In this paper, we present a proper quantum system to perform different tasks of quantum information processing with optimal conditions. We study the populations, entanglement, and nonclassical properties of a system consisting of three level atom interacting with a nonlinear Kerr medium field constructed in the framework of generalized Heisenberg algebra. We quantify these quantities in terms of different parameters involved in the whole system considering the case of moving and stationary atom in the real experimental meaning of the coupling constant. The nonlinearity introduced by these kinds of fields play a useful role to create high amount of entanglement during the time evolution. Interestingly, the relationship between the degree of nonlinearity and robust of entanglement is explored in this present model.

PbWO₄ crystal-Hamamatsu S8148 avalanche photodiode (APD) assembly has been used in the barrel section of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter. The shot noise of the photodiode is one of the important parameters for the energy resolution of the crystal-APD system. The major source of this noise is the statistical variations in the rate at which primary charge carriers are generated and recombine. Thus, the shot noise varies with position of the primary charge carriers generated in photodiode. In this work, the shot noise properties of the Hamamatsu S8148 APD structure and zinc sulfide-silicon (ZnS-Si) isotype heterojunction APD structure have been compared for the PbWO₄ photons. Calculations were made with a Single Particle Monte Carlo simulation technique.

Plasmon-enhanced photoluminescence of silicon nanocrystals embedded in silicon-rich oxinitride thin film is calculated using finite-difference time-domain simulations. Emitters are represented as point-like dipoles and the photoluminescence enhancement is calculated depending on the emitter's position and polarization with respect to the plasmonic metal nanoparticle placed on top of the layer. We show that the photoluminescence enhancement is dominated by the excitation enhancement even for tuning the metal nanoparticle size to the emission wavelength.

Despite several past proposals to employ the inner cores of multiwalled nanotubes as, among others, ultra-high-frequency oscillators, memory devices, and nano-scale sensors, driving into motion a mass initially at rest within the nanotube outer walls has remained a crippling practical obstacle. In addition to the challenge of applying an external driving force upon the entirely embedded shuttle, it has been reported that the dynamics of such motion is "truly nonlinear", that is, it cannot be reduced to that of harmonic or nearly-harmonic oscillators even in the case of vanishing amplitudes. The author has shown that, since friction is nearly negligible, the inner core can be set into motion by breaking the high axial symmetry of the interlayer dispersion forces exerted on it by the outer walls. For instance, by fabricating nanotubes with even just two segments having slightly different dielectric properties, it was concluded that the motion of a partially extruded core under the action of an external electric field could be remarkably stabilized and electrical energy could be both stored into and released from the van der Waals field. Further significant progress was made by identifying a possible mechanism for the time-modulation of the spectral properties of double-walled nanotubes by acting on the free-carrier exciton screening in semiconducting nanotubes. In this paper, new developments are presented in the accurate mathematical modeling of these complex driven systems and additional future applications of telescoping nanotubes as actuators, non-electrochemical energy nanostorage systems, and neutral particle accelerators are illustrated.

Predictions for the transmission of genetic traits along to generations are an important process for patients, their family and genetic counseling. For this purpose, Bayesian analysis in which one can include a priori knowledge taking into account all relevant information into the problem could be a useful tool to examine how disease forecasting affects its probability so that it provides a more straightforward interpretation of predictions. Therefore, we investigate here transmissions of autosomal recessive diseases along to generations within Bayesian framework. In order to do that we develop a computer code that is useful to facilitate genetic transition matrices to forecast predictions of probabilities of transmission of genetic traits by using Mathematica software, well known as an algebraic manipulation language. Furthermore, the symbolic implementation of the code is applied for the cystic fibrosis disease forecasting in humans genetics. All results show that Bayesian analysis plays a central role of prediction for probabilities of transmissions of genetic traits along generations for cystic fibrosis disease or other autosomal recessive disorders.

The optimized geometrical structures, infrared spectra, molecular electrostatic potential, natural bond orbital and nonlinear optical properties of 5-phenylazo-6-hydroxy-4-phenyl-3-cyano-2-pyridoine (1) and 5-(4-bromophenylazo)-6-hydroxy-4-phenyl-3-cyano-2-pyridoine (2) dyes with a detailed study on the azo-hydrazone tautomerism in the ground state have been investigated by density functional theory using B3LYP functional with 6-31G(d,p) basis set. Vibrational modes are assigned with the help of vibrational energy distribution analysis program. Highest occupied molecular orbital and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energies of the (1) and (2) compounds with azo and hydrazone forms were calculated with the same method and basis set. Molecular parameters like global hardness (η), global softness (σ) and electronegativity (χ) were calculated with the results obtained from the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energies. Nonlinear optical parameters (mean polarizability (⟨α⟩), the anisotropy of the polarizability (⟨Δα⟩) and the mean first-order hyperpolarizability (⟨β⟩)) of the title compounds were investigated theoretically. The atomic charges, electronic exchange interaction, and charge delocalization of the molecules have been studied by natural bond orbital analysis.
