Opis:
In this paper a method based on the Fourier transform and Padé approximants is investigated for analysis of holographic photonic crystal structures fabricated in Laboratory for Photonics, Institute of Physics, Belgrade. Padé approximants are numerical tool that can be used to accelerate the convergence of a slowly converging sequence.

Opis:
The diffraction gratings, fabricated in our laboratory, were presented and analyzed by atomic force microscopy in earlier publications. In this paper we apply the Fourier-Pade approximation on our data previously analyzed by fast Fourier transform, proving advantages of using the Fourier-Pade approximation for spectral analysis of structural properties of some optical materials.

Opis:
We present a detailed experimental investigation on polarization-isotropic and polarization-anisotropic holographic scattering in lithium niobate crystal doped with iron when recording parasitic gratings with an ordinary polarized pump beam. The kinetics of both types of scattering during the whole process of recording are studied. Holographic scattering is presented as a simple technique to monitor the energy transfer between beams of different polarization. Moreover, the spectral and the angular dependence of the transmitted intensity of the crystal during the reconstruction of the auto-generated parasitic gratings are measured.

Opis:
Micro-opto electromechanical systems are of growing importance in the development of new miniaturised projection, imaging and detection technologies. Because of the increasing complexity of construction involving layers of microelectronics, optoelectronics and micro-optics, different types of defects can appear that need to be understood and controlled in order for the miniaturised system to operate correctly within the given specifications. We have recently developed a miniaturised structured light (micro-opto electromechanical systems) projector consisting of a multilayer sandwich made of a first layer of 3 bars of 12 VCSEL laser sources, a second layer of Fresnel collimating lenses (diffractive optical elements) and a third layer of Fourier diffractive optical elements to produce the structured light pattern. The main defects that had to be controlled were alignment errors, the first ones being between the emitting surface and the collimating lenses and the second one concerning the lateral alignment of the photomasks used to produce the 4 levels of the Fourier elements. We demonstrate how 3D geometrical shape characterization of the emitting structures and diffractive optical elements surface structures using coherence scanning interferometry played a major role in the conception and fabrication of a prototype micro-optoelectromechanical projection system to understand the source of the alignment errors and to minimise them.

Opis:
Video on demand technology is a modern wireless communication application which requires a large bandwidth. Optical wireless networks, as a potential alternative to radio frequency, is an emerging technology that is easier to set up and provides a cost effective solution, where a physical network is difficult to deploy. Optical wireless networks can be used as a backbone to provide the much needed bandwidth for video on demand application. In this paper, Wavelength Division Multiplexing modulation scheme is proposed for the optical wireless networks due to its significance of transmitting distinct data channels at different wavelengths. Wavelength Division Multiplexing can be easily integrated with optical wireless networks, consequently resulting in an increased data rate. This paper presents a novel approach of integrating video on demand with the state of art Wavelength Division Multiplexing based optical wireless networks. Furthermore, the paper discusses the challenges and advantages over the convention modulation schemes.
