Opis:
Detailed studies on ionization of atoms and molecules by electron impact have made numerous contributions to understanding of the structure of atoms and molecules including the interaction between particles. After a ionizing collision a scattered electron, an ejected electron and a recoil ion is formed. Doubly differential cross-sections give detailed information for one of the outgoing electrons. In this study, we report the angular distribution of double differential cross-sections of ejected electrons from He in intermediate energy region.

In this study, we report the angular distribution of double differential cross sections of ejected electrons from Ar in intermediate energy region. Double differential cross-sections for electron impact ionization of argon have been measured at 348 eV. A hemispherical energy analyzer is used to analyze the ejected electrons with energies between 25 and 325 eV and angles between 25° and 130°.

Opis:
We report on measurements of the relative optical-excitation function for the 4$\text{}^{1}$P state of Ca and polarization degree of the 4227-Å resonance line. The measurements were carried out using crossed low-density beams of electrons and calcium atoms, for incident electron energies from 8 to 500 eV. For each electron energy we have used 28 results obtained at different polarizer positions from 0-180 ̊ to extract the required parameters. Excellent agreement between the present results and earlier predictions has been found.

Opis:
The single ionizing collision with an incident electron and atom/molecules ends up two kinds of outgoing electrons called scattering and ejected electrons. As a feature of electron impact ionization these two electrons are indistinguishable. Double differential cross-sections can be obtained by the measurements of energy and angular distributions of one of the two outgoing electrons by a detector. In this perspective, we used He target that is reasonable to expect to understand ionization mechanisms of atomic systems. We have measured double differential cross-sections for asymmetric geometry for different kinematical situations. The experiments are carried out on a newly developed electron spectrometer constructed in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey.

The existence of Young-type interference patterns has been recently searched in triple differential cross-sections for single ionization of $H_2$ molecules by electron impact, and theoretically supported by calculations obtained by different models. The appearance of interference effects arising from the two-centre geometry of diatomic molecule. These effects seen in triple differential cross-sections are described by interference factor in analogy with light waves. In this work, we discuss about that the interference factor for molecular structure of $H_2$ may reproduce Young-type interference patterns depending on scattering angle, initial and ejected electron energies in triple differential cross-sections. Differences are expected in the triple differential cross-sections spectra of ejected electrons according to kinematical conditions imposed by scattering angle and electron energy.

Opis:
In the framework of the first Born approximation, we present a semirelativistic theoretical study of the inelastic excitation $(1s_{1/2} \rightarrow 2s_{1/2})$ of hydrogen atom by electronic impact. The incident and scattered electrons are described by a free Dirac spinor and the hydrogen atom target is described by the Darwin wave function. Relativistic and spin effects are examined in the relativistic regime. A detailed study has been devoted to the nonrelativistic regime as well as the moderate relativistic regime. Some aspects of this dependence as well as the dynamic behavior of the differential cross-section in the relativistic regime have been addressed.

We have investigated single ionization of He by fast proton and antiproton using a QED approach. A field theoretical calculation gives the total cross-section of He in single ionization, from which it is seen that the projectile p$\text{}^{+}$ or p$\text{}^{-}$ gives almost the same values of cross-section. We have also compared our results with other theoretical and experimental results available in this context yet. Behaviour of the cross-section at a lower spectrum of projectile energy is discussed.

Schwinger's variational principle is used to evaluate excitation cross-sections of hydrogen atom by proton impact in a range of energies excluding a pertubative treatment. To describe the strong coupling between the excitation and the capture channels that exists at low energies, the continuum states have been introduced in the total wave function. Our results show that these states can describe properly the projectile capture states.

We report results of investigation on the fluorescence induced in sodium vapour by pulses of laser light tuned near the 3S → 4P transition (330 nm). The fluorescence was observed in perpendicular and parallel directions in respect to the laser beam. A depletion of fluorescence intensity corresponding to the 5D → 3P transition (498 nm) was observed along the laser beam. We explain this effect as a result of reabsorption that is caused by intense population of the 3P level due to cascade stimulated processes. The most intense depletion occurs about 20 ns after the laser pulse and it corresponds to the moment of maximal population of the 3P level.

Two different designs of the internal evaporator in an arc discharge ion source are presented, suitable either for volatile, or high-melting point substances. A matter of the evaporator size and placement in order to obtain its appropriate temperature and, therefore, a stable and intense ion beam, is considered. Basic ion source characteristics, i.e. the dependences of ion current and discharge voltage on the discharge and filament currents as well as on the external magnetic field flux density are shown and discussed in order to find optimal working conditions. The results of measurements for both volatile (P, Zn, Se, S) and non-volatile (Pd) are presented, showing the applicability of the design for ion implantation purposes.

A new method of $Mo^{+}$ ion beam production is presented in the paper. The method bases on the chemical sputtering/etching of the molybdenum parts (e.g. anode) of the arc discharge ion source by the chloride containing plasma. A mixture of $CCl_4$ (or $CHCl_3$) vapor and air was used as the feeding substance. The separated $Mo^{+}$ beam current of approximately 18 μA was achieved. The measurements of the ion current dependences on the discharge and filament currents as well as on the magnetic field flux density from the electromagnet surrounding the discharge chamber were performed in order to find the optimal working parameters of the ion source.
