Opis:
The paper presents the results of the sensitivity analysis of the variability of thermal conductivity and specific heat values on temperature field and pore pressure distribution during the flooding process simulation. The sensitivity analysis was carried out using data obtained from numerical modellings. During numerical modellings the simulation of flooding process included flooding and discharging the tank, with maximum water level equal to 3.0 m was performed. 2D model was realized using Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC) 7.0 software, which is a two-dimensional explicit finite difference program for engineering mechanics computation. The results presented in this paper show that the sensitivity analysis method is powerful technique that can be used in detection of area within the embankment where the biggest impact on variability of thermal conductivity are presented. It may be helpful in selecting the best area for pore pressure and temperature sensors location.

Opis:
Over time, fragmentation of semi-natural habitats in urban areas has become a pressing concern, disrupting ecological processes within cities. The focus on preserving open ecosystems has grown, highlighting the need to enhance resilience in urban riverside areas for effective ecosystem restoration. Comprehensive studies on river valleys, considering both hydrology and ecology, play a crucial role in urban river ecosystem development. Our article explores the potential of protective zones with urban vegetation and watercourses as Nature-based Solution within Krakow's ongoing riverine park system development. The study's cross-sections in the River Park area revealed dominant velocities ranging from 0.67 to 2.0 m s-1 for SWQ (mean annual maximum flow) and below 0.67 m s-1 for Q1% (1% annual exceedance probability flow). The hydrological analysis accurately captured the natural river bed channels' curvature, providing the basis for a two-dimensional mathematical model to visualize the hydraulic structure of protected sites. Integrating water and greenery management systems in urban areas offers significant potential for adapting to climate change, mitigating extreme weather events. Our research's novelty lies in applying 2D hydraulic modeling, demonstrating how River Parks can serve as climate change mitigation solutions in urban environments.

Opis:
We describe the application of 2D ERT (electrical resistivity tomography) surveys to investigate the spatial complexity of fluvial deposits of the Wisła River valley in the eastern part of Kraków (southern Poland). All ERT survey lines were completed within the industrially influenced floodplain of the Wisła River at two research sites. Due to the transformation of the natural state of the environment through many years of industrial activity of the ArcelorMittal Kraków plant, some of the geomorphological elements analysed have been irretrievably transformed and hidden by anthropogenic accumulations such as waste landfills and engineering structures. Hence, many years of soil contamination have changed the primary resistivity characteristics of the subsurface. For this purpose, the measurement array applied combines standard arrays, i.e., Wenner-Schlumberger and Dipole-Dipole, which gave improved results (higher resolution) in comparison to the standard single array. The data interpretation method was supported by the calculation and visualization of the vertical and horizontal gradients of the interpreted resistivity within the resistivity sections. This approach allowed accurate determination of resistivity boundaries on the ERT resistivity sections and thus helped lithological interpretation of the fluvial deposits in the research area. The resistivity of water in a channel located within one of the analysed areas has impacted some of the research results. Furthermore, 2D ERT forward modeling was implemented to generate synthetic datasets. The synthetic data allowed investigation of the influence of groundwater contamination on the resistivity distribution within superficial layers, and also tested the ability of the 2D ERT model to recognize the detailed spatial distribution of palaeomeander (meander scar) infills. All methods have provided new information on the industrially influenced floodplain of the Wisła River in Kraków.

In this paper, we propose a 2D approach in order to create a mathematical model for the determination of the residence time distribution for a flow reactor with recirculation. Apart from characterizing the functional residence time distribution, this model can help improve the operation of the reactor at the design stage. The mathematical model was validated by comparison with experiments carried out in a hydraulic laboratory.

Opis:
Consideration of ultrasonic cleaning as a process with distributed parameters enables reduction of power consumption. This approach is based on establishment of control over the process depending on fixed values of ultrasonic responses in set points. The initial intensity of radiators is determined using a three-dimensional (3D) interval type-2 fuzzy logic controller essentially created for processes with distributed parameters, as well as complex expert evaluation of the input data. The interval membership functions for the input and output data consider the space heterogeneity of ultrasonic cleaning. A rule base is formed, which is 2D and not dependent upon the number of input and output parameters. A model illustrating ultrasonic cleaning with a 3D interval type-2 fuzzy logic controller is designed. Comparative analysis of the output parameters of the proposed model and the traditional method indicates an increase in the energy efficiency by 41.17% due to application of only those ultrasonic radiators that are located next to the contamination.

Opis:
The local relative changes of the total intensity geomagnetic field in time are presented against the background of the geological structure of Lublin-Podlasie slope (LPSK) of the East European Craton. The research concerned measurement results of the total intensity (T) of the geomagnetic field, taken in the last 12 years (1997-2008) at 20 sites located along the Parczew - Chełm profile. Relative temporal changes of the geomagnetic field were determined on the basis of values of geomagnetic field calculated with reference to geomagnetic field measured at the base. These changes are presented as graphs, and in the form of space-time 2D and 3D representations, showing their relationship with the magnetic anomaly map. The cause of local relative changes was attempted to be explained by 2D magnetic modeling assuming that the changes of the induced magnetization of the basement crystalline rocks are result of the geomagnetic secular variations.

Opis:
In this paper we present a simulation framework to account for the Schottky barrier lowering models in SBMOSFETs within the Synopsys TCAD Sentaurus tool-chain. The improved Schottky barrier lowering model for field emission is considered. A strategy to extract the different current components and thus accurately predict the on- and off-current regions are adressed. Detailed investigations of these components are presented along with an improved Schottky barrier lowering model for field emission. Finally, a comparison for the transfer characteristics is shown for simulation and experimental data.
