Opis:
The paper consists of two parts. The first one discusses the text of Gen 32, 25:32, whereas the second one depicts the literary composition of the verses under analysis. The composition allows us to believe that its leading idea is the truth about God the Creator and Sovereign Ruler of man.

Electron densities and ion (gas) temperatures on the axis of an arc discharge plasma, produced at atmospheric pressure in a gas mixture of 95% helium and 5% argon, are determined at two arc currents. The evaluation of both main plasma parameters is based on line shape measurements, the ion temperature on the Doppler broadening of selected ArII lines, while the electron density on the Stark broadening of the hydrogen H$\text{}_{β}$ line which appear in the spectrum due to hydrogen traces in the applied gases. The significance of reliable plasma diagnostics for determination of atomic structure data is discussed.

Opis:
Population densities of excited CI and CII levels are calculated in helium and argon plasmas containing small admixtures of $\text{CO}_{2}$. Calculations are performed for a total pressure of 1 atmosphere, in a temperature interval from 8000 K to 40000 K, assuming local thermal equilibrium (LTE) and partial local thermal equilibrium (pLTE) conditions. Normal temperatures are obtained for selected excited CI and CII levels. The results are applied to a helium plasma with traces of $\text{CO}_{2}$, of cylindrical symmetry with presumed radial temperature distribution. Effective intensities of CI and CII spectral lines, corresponding to side-on radiance measurements along the cylinder diameter are evaluated. On hand of these effective line intensities and applying the Boltzmann plot method effective temperatures are evaluated and compared with the presumed temperature distribution.

Half widths of 24 ArI lines from a wide interval of the spectrum and from a large range of excitation energies were measured. A wall-stabilized arc at atmospheric pressure was applied as a plasma generator. Electron densities of the plasma of the order of 10$\text{}^{16}$-10$\text{}^{17}$ cm$\text{}^{-3}$ were obtained on the basis of hydrogen H$\text{}_{β}$ line broadening measurements. The measured widths of ArI lines, normalized to au electron density of 10$\text{}^{16}$ cm$\text{}^{-3}$ were compared with experimental data for analogous transitions in other noble atoms.

Opis:
Bombardment with high energy particles and photons can cause potential hazards to the electronic systems. These effects range from degradation of performance to functional failure, which can affect the operation of a system. Such failures become increasingly likely as electronic components are getting more sophisticated, while decreasing in size and tending to a larger integration. In this paper, the effects of X-ray irradiation on a plastic encapsulated infrared light emitting diode, coupled to a plastic encapsulated silicon infrared phototransistor, with both of them being electrically isolated at ON and OFF modes, are investigated. All the devices are exposed to a total dose of up to 1000 mAs. The electrical parameters of the optoelectronic devices during the radiation exposure and at post-irradiation are compared to the pre-irradiation readings. The findings show that the highest degradation occurs at low dose of exposure; beyond 100 mAs the relative decrease in collector current of the phototransistor is gradually reduced. The most remarkable feature found, is the operational dependence of the bias collector current, indicating a higher degradation for low bias forward current of the light emitting diode. The degradation induced at the forward current of the light emitting diode by X-rays irradiation is almost negligible whereas a decrease of the rate of change in current transfer ratio is significant during the X-ray irradiation. The results show that there is no significant difference between current transfer ratio of ON mode and OFF mode radiation. It is observed that the operating mode of the optoelectronic devices after exposure to 1000 mAs of X-ray irradiation contributes no major variation in the degree of damage.

We have observed a Zeeman effect in an evanescent wave absorption in Rb vapor with a single-mode tunable diode laser. The spectra are obtained for several magnetic field- and laser light-configurations enabling the observation of different pi and sigma Zeeman split lines contribution. The relative amplitudes and relative frequencies of all Zeeman components were calculated theoretically and compared with measured spectra. The analysis of the data can lead to the determination of the polarization state of the evanescent wave.

Experiments on hot rubidium vapor as an atomic medium with electromagnetically induced transparency for radiation of 795 nm wavelength (D1 absorption line of rubidium) are reported. Propagation of light pulses with velocity reduced to 11.5 km/s has been observed with a significant modification of the shape of square input pulses to adapt to the spectral window of induced transparency. So-called light storage, i.e. suspension of the propagation of light pulses in the medium by temporary turn-off of the electromagnetically induced transparency state was also demonstrated. "Storage" periods of several microseconds, limited by relatively fast relaxation of atomic spin polarization in the volume of interaction of atoms with radiation, were obtained.

Opis:
The extinction paradox, the difference of classical and quantum scattering cross-sections for the scattering of particles by a rigid sphere (σ$\text{}^{Q}$=2π a$\text{}^{2}$=2σ$\text{}^{C}$ for ka ≫ 1), is analyzed in a simpler 2D model of a rigid cylindrical potential. Rigorous solutions of the Schrödinger equation for particle beams, including also finite width beams, are derived and employed in the description of the scattering process. The scattering particle fluxes, with a thorough treatment of the forward directions, are being studied. It is pointed out that for wide beams (w ≫ a) the scattered flux can reach the value determined by the quantum theory, provided that it is measured at distances R ≫ waλ. Moderately narrow beams (1≪ w≪ a) behave as classical trajectories, and their scattering can be described in classical terms. Thus, the classical limit of quantum scattering requires not only that the de Broglie wavelength λ$\text{}_{B}$ is much smaller than the size of the scatterer (a ≫ λ$\text{}_{B}$), but also that the transverse width of beams of de Broglie's waves is small, w≪ a.

The resonance fluorescence spectrum of an ensemble of two-level atoms driven by two classical, frequency degenerate and noncollinear laser beams is investigated. It has been found that the spatially-averaged resonance fluorescence spectra differ significantly from the spectra of two-level atoms calculated for the single-beam excitation. The differences were noticed in the number of peaks, their positions and shapes and in their dependences on an angle between wave vectors of the incident beams.

This paper presents fundamental principles, characteristics, and limitations of various experimental methods of cooling and trapping of neutral atoms by laser light and magnetic fields. In addition to surveying the experimental techniques, basic properties of quantum degenerate gases are discussed with particular emphasis on the Bose-Einstein condensate. We also present main parameters and expected characteristics of the first Polish Bose-Einstein condensate apparatus built in the National Laboratory of Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics in Toruń, Poland.
