The article contains a detailed exegesis of the Christological hymn in Col 1:15-20, highlighting the links between the theology of creation and kerygmatic theology. The first strophe (1:15-18a) emphasizes the author’s intention to show the function of Christ in the creation of the world, whereas the second one (1:18b-20) exposes the fact that Christ’s passion, death and resurrection were key moments in the history of the world, comparable only to the work of its creation. It is shown that both events are closely related in the hymn because reconciling the world to God in the blood of Christ is meant to be the completion of the work of creation, resulting in restoring a harmonious relationship between God and man.

We studied the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of Sm-doped Bi₂Se₃ using a GGA approximation in a frame of the fully relativistic spin-polarized Dirac linear muffin-tin orbital band-structure method. The X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism at the Sm M_{4,5} edges were investigated theoretically from first principles. The calculated results are in good agreement with experimental data. The complex fine structure of the Sm M_{4,5} XAS in Sm-doped Bi₂Se₃ was found to be not compatible with a pure Sm³⁺ valency state. The interpretation demands mixed valent states.

We report the results of scalar and fully relativistic electronic structure calculations for nonsuperconducting Th₇Ru₃, using the full-potential linearized-muffin-thin-orbital and full-potential linearized augmented-plane wave methods. The obtained data, including electronic band structures, density of states, Fermi surfaces and electron localization function, reveal the presence of anisotropic spin-orbit coupling but its strength, exposed by splitting energies of the order of 10-40 meV, is much weaker as compared to those of Th₇Fe₃ or Th₇Co₃ superconductors. Moreover, the lack of Van Hove singularity near the Fermi level underscores a key point of the non-occurrence of superconductivity in the studied compound.

We report on the electronic structure of hybrid heterostructure combined the ferromagnetic double perovskite Sr₂CrReO₆ (SCRO) and ferroelectric BaTiO₃ (BTO) calculated in the GGA approach using the fully relativistic spin-polarized Dirac LMTO method. The optical and MO properties as well as the X-ray absorption spectra and X-ray magnetic circular dichroism at the Ti, Ba, and Re L_{2,3} edges and O K edges of the SCRO/BTO heterostructures were investigated theoretically from the first principles. It was shown that the calculations reproduce well available experimental spectra and allow to explain the microscopic origin of the SCRO/BTO heterostructures optical, MO and XMCD spectra.

Opis:
Single-crystals of LuSb were investigated by means of electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance measurements. The compound was found to exhibit giant magnetoresistance exceeding 3000%, low-temperature resistivity plateau, and Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations. It was characterized as a semimetal with nearly balanced contributions of electron and hole carriers to the magnetotransport properties. The experimental findings, supported by the results of electronic structure calculations, proved that the magnetotransport in LuSb can be described in the scope of 3D multi-band Fermi surface model without topologically non-trivial electronic states.

In this work, some relations between crystal structure and magnetic ordering in CrCoFeNiAl HEAs are discussed in view of the KKR-CPA calculations. Remarkably, it is noticed that the transition between fcc and bcc phases in the analysed CrCoFeNi_{x}Al and CrCoFeNiAl_{x} alloys is closely related to change in ordering of the local magnetic moments, namely the magnetic moment on Cr is either parallel (ferromagnetic) or antiparallel (ferrimagnetic) to the magnetic moments of other atoms (Co, Fe and Ni). On the whole, the theoretical diagram showing the fcc-bcc phase preference and their coexistence vs. alloy composition well corroborates with available experimental data.

Magnetic optical rotatory dispersion (MORD) of thin selected biological tissues and thin film of composite made from akaganeite mineral and PVA as well as ferritin and their mimetics aqueous suspensions were performed in spectral range 250-650 nm at room temperature. Good correlation between MORD spectra for akaganeite composite film, ferritin and their mimetics aqueous suspensions with spectra of thin slices of human tissue obtained from white matter of the brain and spleen were observed. Comparison suggest a contribution from Fe(III) to MORD spectra of tissues. This preliminary results show that application of MORD spectroscopy to clinical analysis may be useful.

Opis:
Reduction of thermal conductivity remains a main approach relevant to enhancement of figure-of-merit of most thermoelectric materials. Melt spinning combined with spark plasma sintering appears to be a vital route towards fine-grain skutterudites with improved thermoelectric performance. However, upon high-temperature processing the Fe_{4-x}Co_{x}Sb_{12}-based skutterudites are prone to decompose into multiple phases, which deteriorate their thermoelectric performance. In this study we addressed the effects of combined melt spinning and spark plasma sintering on the phase composition and microstructural properties of filled Fe_{4-x}Co_{x}Sb_{12} as well as their influence on thermoelectric characteristics of these compounds. The crystallites of filled Fe_{4-x}Co_{x}Sb_{12} were effectively reduced to sizes below 100 nm upon melt spinning, but also severe decomposition with weakly preserved nominal phase was observed. Spark plasma sintering of melt spun skutterudites resulted in even further reduction of crystallites. Upon short annealing and sintering the n-type materials easily restored into single-phase filled CoSb₃ with nanoscale features preserved, while secondary phases of FeSb₂ and Sb remained in p-type compounds. Relatively high figure-of-merit ZT_{max} of 0.9 at T ≈ 400°C has been gained in nanostructured Yb_{x}Co₄Sb_{12}, however, no significant reduction of thermal conductivity was observed. Abundant impurities in p-type filled Fe_{4-x}Co_{x}Sb_{12} led to drastic drop in their ZT, which even further degraded upon thermal cycling.

The article presents the problem of quality control the paramagnetic material of weld overlays laser made on ferro- and paramagnetic materials (steels, cast iron). To assess the quality of weld overlays paramagnetic material, and also the impact of overheating, besides laboratory researches on Keyence optical microscope, used measurement of existing magnetization of magnetic field distribution. Examples of test results by magnetic memory of metals are presented. It has been found, that is expedient use magnetic methods to assess the quality the microstructure of laser pad welded surface layer (influence of heat generation, microstructure changes, chemical composition and own stresses).

The aim of presented first principles study of $La_{0.5}Bi_{0.5}NiO₃$ is to investigate electronic structure of orthorhombic phase Pbnm. The calculations show that metallicity and magnetism of the system are strongly related with hybridization between Ni 3d and O 2p. To improve the quality of the electronic structure description of the system, especially the treatment of correlation for the Ni 3d, we employ GGA, LDA, and GGA+U, LDA+U. The LSDA results give good agreement with experiment. Thus, the screening effects originating from the hybridized Ni 3d and O 2p electrons are sufficiently strong that they reduce the electronic correlations in the $La_{0.5}Bi_{0.5}NiO₃$, making it a weakly correlated metal.

The stock of local acts, books and other documents produced in parishes of the diocese of Tarnów since 1992 to the Diocese of Rzeszów and located in the resources of the Diocese Archive in Tarnów is substantial. Metric books (baptized, married and deceased) cover the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Some of them refer only to the nineteenth century. Moreover, documents from the departments of the deacon and canonical visits allow us to draw up an account of the history of particular parishes and deanships over the centuries. They provide valuable source material for research not only in the history of the Church, dioceses, but also in other departments of science. They are also an indisputable proof of the religiousness of the Diocese and the work of the clergy among the faithful.

The models of the heterostructures based on the β-InSe, In₄Se₃ and In₄Te₃ crystals were proposed and the first-principles study of their electronic and optical properties were presented. The band spectra, the spatial distributions of the electron density and the absorption coefficients for different polarizations along crystal axes for the heterostructures of the (In₄Se₃)_m/(In₄Te₃)_m and β-InSe/In₄Se₃ type were calculated. The evolution of the changes in both energy spectrum and optical functions of the heterostructures in comparison with the bulk crystals has been analyzed. Our calculations point out the heterostructures stability and good agreement with the experimental investigations of the photosensitivity in the near and middle infrared region.

Vibrational frequencies of 2-Amino-4,5,6,7-Tetrahydrobenzo[b]Thiophene-3-Carbonitrile were calculated using density functional (DFT/B3YLP) method with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set by Gaussian 09. The assignments of the vibrational frequencies have been done by potential energy distribution analysis, using VEDA 4 software. The density functional theory and time dependent density functional theory methods have been used to study the electronic properties of 2-Amino-4,5,6,7-Tetrahydrobenzo[b]Thiophene-3-Carbonitrile. Isotropic chemical shifts were calculated using the gauge-invariant atomic orbital method. All computed spectroscopic properties were compared with experimental ones. The simulated spectra of the molecule show excellent agreement with the experimental spectra.

The electron-phonon interaction is a very important and ubiquitous process in solids, affecting almost all their physical properties. In metals, where the relaxation processes depend on both electrons and phonons, all thermodynamic and transport properties are dictated by the electron-phonon interaction. A very strong manifestation of the electron-phonon interaction is related with the superconducting state. Here we report the effect of high pressure on the transport electron-phonon interaction, λ_{tr}, in superconducting systems such as YB_6 (T_c ≈ 7.5 K), Pb (T_c ≈7.2 K), Nb bulk or thin film (T_c ≈9.2 K), and in LaB_6 in which superconductivity was not yet observed. The expected pressure effect should correspond to the theoretically predicted negative pressure effect on T_c (except for Nb thin film and LaB_6). To determine the influence of pressure on λ_{tr}, we utilized the Bloch-Grüneisen fit (denoted also as "thermal spectroscopy") of the precise temperature dependence of resistivity measurements in the normal state up to a pressure of 2.8 GPa. Based on this fit the observed negative pressure effect on λ_{tr} values, dλ_{tr}/dp, are as follows: dλ_{tr}/dp ≈-0.045 GPa^{-1} for YB_6, dλ_{tr}/dp ≈-0.13 GPa^{-1} for Pb, dλ_{tr}/dp ≈-0.019 GPa^{-1} or -0.028 GPa^{-1} for Nb bulk or thin film, respectively, and dλ_{tr}/dp ≈-0.003 GPa^{-1} for LaB_6.

In this study, mechanical behavior of iron-based (Fe-0.8C-2.0Cu-4.5Ni-1.8Mo-1.0B (wt.%)) metal matrix composite synthesized by powder metallurgy was investigated for gear production. Metal matrix composite has been produced by warm compaction, followed by free sintering in controlled Ar gas atmosphere. Green composite was produced under pressure of 650 MPa at 160°C. The green products have been sintered at various temperatures (1050, 1150 and 1250°C) and for various time periods (30, 60 and 90 min). Mechanical tests (hardness and wear tests) have been conducted. The microstructure and the worn surfaces of the samples have been examined under scanning electron microscope and analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction method. The results have shown that hardness and wear resistance of the samples increase with increasing sintering temperature and time. Effect of sintering temperature is greater than that of sintering time. The highest hardness and wear resistance have been obtained in the composite sample produced at 1250°C for 90 min.
