Opis:
TOF mass spectrometer for research of third-harmonic generation effect in isotropic media was used. The nonlinear medium in the experiment was Xe gas, the incident beam had the wavelength of 3546 Ǻ and the generated radiation had the wavelength of 1182 Ǻ. A measure for the intensity of generated VUV was the intensity of the ion current generated at the spot where a non-homogeneous effusive molecular (2,2-dimethylbutane) beam was crossed by the VUV beam. The influence of parameters like the diameter of the UV beam and the Xe pressure on the VUV generation process was examined. The third-larmonic generation theory was used to verify the mass spectrometric data.

Opis:
Ion-molecule reactions initiated by electron impact in the hydrogen sulfide-methane mixtures have been studied by means of quadrupole mass spectrometer with a high-pressure ion source. The total gas pressure of investigated mixtures was changed from 0.7 to 33.3 Pa. Influence of repeller potential on ion-molecule reactions have been studied. The repeller potential was changed in the range 2-12 V. Measurements were performed for different concentrations of methane and hydrogen sulfide in the mixture (from 10% $H_2S$ + 90% $CH_4$ to 90% $H_2S$ + 10% $CH_4$ with 10% increment). The major ion-molecule reactions have been identified. The primary ions $C^{+},$ $CH^{+},$ $CH_2^{+},$ $CH_3^{+},$ $CH_4^{+},$ $S^{+},$ $HS^{+},$ $H_2S^{+}$ produced in gas by the electrons with the energy of 300 eV and secondary $CH_5^{+},$ $C_2H_5^{+},$ $H_3S^{+},$ $H_2^{34}S^{+},$ $H_3^{34}S^{+},$ $CHS^{+},$ $CH_3S^{+},$ $S_2^{+},$ $HS_2^{+},$ $H_2S_2^{+}$ and $H_3S_2^{+}$ from the ion-molecule reactions were observed. Relative intensities for primary and secondary ions are presented as a function of potential of repeller electrode and concentration of methane in the mixture.

Opis:
Charge-exchange ion-molecule reactions of $Ar^+$ ions with $CF_4$ have been studied in the pressure range 1.33-39.99 Pa. A quadrupole mass spectrometer with a high-pressure ion source has been used for measuring gaseous ion-molecule reactions in the mixture of 1% $CF_4$ and 99% Ar. The fractional abundance $I_i//\sum I_i$ of the observed $CF_3^+$, $CF_2^+$ and argon ions has been determined as a function of the gas mixture pressure (at the values of the repeller electrode potentials $V_{R}$ ranging from 2 to 10 V).

Opis:
Ion-molecule reactions have been measured for the propene-argon mixtures of different compositions using a quadrupole mass spectrometer with a high-pressure ion source. The concentration of propane in these mixtures ranged from 10% to 90% (at 10% increment). The following primary and secondary ions: $CH_{5}^{+}$ (m/q=17), $C_{2}H_{2}^{+}$ (m/q=26), $C_{2}H_{3}^{+}$ (m/q=27), $C_{2}H_{4}^{+}$ (m/q=28), $C_{2}H_{5}^{+}$ (m/q=29), $C_{3}H_{3}^{+}//\text{}^{39}Ar^{+}$ (m/q=39), $C_{3}H_{4}^{+}//\text{}^{40}Ar^{+}$ (m/q=40), $C_{3}H_{5}^{+}$ (m/q=41), $C_{3}H_{6}^{+}//\text{}^{42}Ar^{+}$ (m/q=42), $C_{3}H_{7}^{+}$ (m/q=43), $C_{3}H_{8}^{+}$ (m/q=44), $C_{4}H_{5}^{+}$ (m/q=53), $C_{4}H_{6}^{+}$ (m/q=54), $C_{4}H_{7}^{+}$ (m/q=55), $C_{4}H_{8}^{+}$ (m/q=56), $C_{4}H_{9}^{+}$ (m/q=57), $C_{5}H_{5}^{+}$ (m/q=65), $C_{5}H_{6}^{+}$ (m/q=66), $C_{5}H_{7}^{+}$ (m/q=67), $C_{5}H_{8}^{+}$ (m/q=68), $C_{5}H_{9}^{+}$ (m/q=69), $C_{5}H_{10}^{+}$ (m/q=70) were observed. Relative ion current intensities for primary and secondary ions are presented as a function of both total mixtures pressure and concentration of propene in the mixture. Primary ions were produced by electrons with the energy of 300 eV. The potential of repeller electrode $V_{R}$ inside the ion source collision chamber was fixed at 5 V for all measurements. The total mixture pressure was changed from 0.7 to 26.6 Pa. Schemes of ion-molecule reactions were proposed.

The high resolution double focusing mass spectrometer of reversed Nier-Johnson geometry was used in research of ionization and fragmentation processes of ethanol molecules $C_2H_5OH$. Using the mass-analyzed ion kinetic energy technique, fragmentation paths and kinetic energy release distributions were examined for the four fragmentation reactions: $C_2H_6O^{+} \rightarrow C_2H_5O^{+},$ $C_2H_6O^{+} \rightarrow C_2H_3O^{+},$ $CH_3O^{+} \rightarrow CH_2O^{+}$ and $CH_3O^{+} \rightarrow CHO^{+}$. For all fragment ions from these reactions mean values of kinetic energy release 〈ε〉 were determined. We calculated mean values of 〈ε〉 as 22.70 meV, 62.15 meV, 30.25 meV, and 117.20 meV for $C_2H_5O^{+},$ $C_2H_3O^{+},$ $CH_2O^{+},$ and for $CHO^{+}$ ions, respectively.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of selected organic compounds such as acetic acid and formaldehyde on the historical glass objects of corrosion processes. This is a very important problem for the field of conservation and restoration of glass of art. Glass objects exhibited in museum display cases can be suffered by evaporating organic compounds which undergo to reaction with leached glass elements to create corrosion deposit on their surface. The proposed method called glass sensors has been used to identify results of impact of various external factors on the tested glass. Due to aggressive environment for the objects there created corrosion phenomena. Glass sensor were prepared as reproduced XVIII-cent. materials. The current studies were carried out by modern physico-chemical methods such as optical, metallography, scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and the Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. These techniques allow to determine the composition of the corrosion layers as well as their structure. The issues raised in this work have been studied following an interdisciplinary approach. The information obtained by using different techniques provides a valuable source of knowledge about the chemical reactions taking place on the surface of the glass. The results derived from this work are useful for the design and implementation of exhibition recommendations and better planning of conservation tasks.

Opis:
The sorption properties of Transcarpathian clinoptilolite towards Nd(III) and Gd(III) under dynamic condition have been studied. Nd(III) was sorbed with the best efficiency on the uncalcined clinoptilolite samples from the solutions at pH 6.5. Clinoptilolite samples that were previously calcined at 250°C exhibit the maximal sorption capacity towards Gd(III) from the solutions at pH 9.5. Nd(III) and Gd(III) sorption on clinoptilolite mechanisms are different: Nd(III) is sorbed according to the ion-exchange mechanism, and the sorption of Gd(III) is carried out mainly by means of the adsorption of soluble hydrolyzed forms of Gd(III) on the zeolite surface. The differences in sorption mechanisms of these lanthanides give an opportunity to separate Nd(III) and Gd(III) from the solutions at pH 9.5. The maximal sorption capacity of the clinoptilolite regarding Nd(III) and Gd(III) at the optimal conditions was found to be 1810 and 6500 μg/g. The best desorbent of Nd from the clinoptilolite is 7 M HNO₃ solution. The best desorbent of Gd is 1 M solution of KCl acidified to pH 2.6, which provides a 100% withdrawal of Gd from the zeolite matrix. Transcarpathian clinoptilolite is proposed as a sorbent for the preconcentration of trace amounts of Nd(III) and Gd(III) from aqueous solutions in a solid phase extraction mode.

Opis:
Electrochemical deposition is a very efficient method for producing many types of modern materials. The method is not expensive and does not have a limit for sample size. In our work the preparation of Ni, Co and Fe nanowires is presented. The obtained nanowires had different diameter and length which were tunable by template porous material and time of deposition, respectively. The quality of the prepared wires was dependent also on deposition mode. The smallest wires of the diameter around 40 nm were prepared in porous anodic alumina oxide obtained from oxalic acid. The largest ones, around 120 nm, were produced in phosphoric acid. The length could be as large as the thickness of the oxide and reached up to about 1 μm. The morphology of wires was studied by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The magnetic characterization was done with usage of magnetic force microscopy and the Mössbauer spectroscopy. The wires show magnetization along their growth direction.

Magnetic nanostructured materials have been found to be very efficient in wastewater decontamination. Among the various synthesis methods, co-precipitation is a rapid and cost-effective technique for the manufacturing of magnetic nanoparticles; moreover, using green chemistry for their stabilization with natural non-toxic capping agents in aqueous solution, such materials become potential candidates as nanocatalytic formulations for water remediation, topic which represents the aim of the present study. Thus, three types of environment-friendly magnetic fluids were synthesized using the chemical precipitation route, the resulted samples being further characterized by various analytical techniques, in order to assess their microstructural features. The results revealed excellent stability in suspension of all samples, the magnetite nanoparticles exhibiting sizes in the nanoscale range with a relatively spherical shape and suitable magnetic properties. Such nanoparticle based products could be the right choice for magnetic responsive and recyclable materials used in the degradation of emerging pollutants from wastewaters.
