Opis:
Qualification of the most statistically "sensitive" diffusion parameters using Magnetic Resonance (MR) Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) of the control and injured spinal cord of a rat in vivo and in vitro after the trauma is reported. Injury was induced in TH12/TH13 level by a controlled "weight-drop". In vitro experiments were performed in a home-built MR microscope, with a 6.4 T magnet, in vivo samples were measured in a 9.4 T/21 horizontal magnet The aim of this work was to find the most effective diffusion parameters which are useful in the statistically significant detection of spinal cord tissue damage. Apparent diffusion tensor (ADT) weighted data measured in vivo and in vitro on control and injured rat spinal cord (RSC) in the transverse planes and analysis of the diffusion anisotropy as a function of many parameters, which allows statisticall expose of the existence of the damage are reported.

This work describes the design of a tuned NMR probehead that was developed for measurement of very broad spectra in fully impedance matched mode. The probehead is constructed as an insert of continuous flow cryostat to allow operation down to helium temperatures. Properties of the probehead are demonstrated on $\text{}^{57}Fe$ NMR in magnetic oxide with spinel structure.

Reflection spectra of pure explosive materials and their simulants were measured in transmission and reflection by means of time domain spectroscopy in the range 0.1-3 THz. Spectra measured in two reflection configurations: specular with incident angle equal to 45° and stand-off with close to normal incidence and distance 30 and 40 cm to samples was analyzed.

Opis:
This work presents a terahertz system designed for the reflection spectroscopy of different materials located at a distance up to 5 m. The source of the radiation is a tunable solid-state optical parametric oscillator, which generates a narrow-band nanosecond pulses in the range of 0.7-2.5 THz. The signal is detected with relatively fast and having big sensitivity hot electron bolometer. The detailed description of each device and the functioning of the experimental setup are provided as well as the methodology of the measurement is explained. Investigations were performed in the 0.7-2.2 THz range in free space with relative humidity of about 40%. The experiment was divided into three series, each of which was carried out with different distance between the examined sample and the system - 1 m, 3 m, and 5 m. Obtained spectra of selected materials, including explosives, are similar to the results received from a purged time domain spectroscopy system. The observed small deviations are connected with fluctuations of the laser wavelength and the instability of the bolometer.

Microwave radar for non-destructive express testing of electrical properties of semiconductor materials which consists of pulsed magnet, transmitting and receiving antennas, high frequency generator, pulsed modulator and digital oscilloscope is described. In semiconductor specimen placed in pulsed magnetic field a magnetoplasmic wave is excited and propagated through the specimen. Delay time and attenuation of transmitted and reference signals are measured to find a value of concentration and mobility of free charge carriers in semiconductors. Experimental data of testing of InSb, n-InSb specimens are presented and acceptable for express testing correspondence of results was achieved.

Opis:
We report recent advances in material characterization on the nanometer scale using scanning microwave microscopy. This combines atomic force microscopy and a vector network analyzer using microwave tip sample interaction to characterize dielectric and electronic material properties on the nanometer scale. We present the methods for calibration as well as applications. Scanning microwave microscopy features calibrated measurements of: (1) capacitance with attofarad sensitivity. For calibration a well characterized array of capacitors (0.1 fF to 10 fF) is used. The method is applied to determine the dielectric properties of thin organic films, (2) Semiconductor dopant density. Calibration is performed by imaging the cross-section of a standard sample with differently doped layers (dopant stair case) from $10^{16}$ atoms/$cm^3$ to $10^{20}$ atoms/$cm^3$.

Opis:
One of the key factor which determine HgCdTe photodiode quality is acceptor doping efficiency. This paper presents significant progress made over the past three years in development of acceptor doping technology in metalorganic chemical vapour deposition HgCdTe photovoltaic detectors. High acceptor doping is required for $P^{+}$-contact layers, whereas low doping is necessary for p-type absorbing base layer. Previously, $AsH_3$ precursor was used as an acceptor dopant. This precursor is partially incorporated as electrically neutral As-H pairs, which are likely to be recombination centres in HgCdTe and in consequence influence on the carriers lifetime lowering. Substituting of $AsH_3$ by TDMAAs resulted in higher carrier lifetimes and thereby about one order of magnitude higher $R_0A$ product of HgCdTe photodiodes in temperatures close to 230 K.

Opis:
In the paper, fundamental and technological issues associated with the development and exploitation of the most advanced infrared detector technologies are discussed. In this class of detectors both photon and thermal detectors are considered. Special attention is directed to HgCdTe ternary alloys on silicon, type-II superlattices, uncooled thermal bolometers, and novel uncooled micromechanical cantilever detectors. Despite serious competition from alternative technologies and slower progress than expected, HgCdTe is unlikely to be seriously challenged for high-performance applications, applications requiring multispectral capability and fast response. However, the nonuniformity is a serious problem in the case of LWIR and VLWIR HgCdTe detectors. In this context, it is predicted that type-II superlattice system seems to be an alternative to HgCdTe in long wavelength spectral region. In well established uncooled imaging, $VO_x$ microbolometer arrays are clearly the most used technology. In spite of successful commercialization of uncooled microbolometers, the infrared community is still searching for a platform for thermal imagers that combine affordability, convenience of operation, and excellent performance. Recent advances in microelectromechanical systems have led to the development of uncooled IR detectors operating as micromechanical thermal detectors. Between them the most important are biomaterial microcantilevers.
