Opis:
The classical, electrodynamic definition of the ampere is incoherent with quantum electrodynamics. The problem, although insignificant at the macroscopic scale, manifests clearly at the nanostructure level, where the consistently quantum approach is necessary. In this paper, we consider the Casimir effect to quantify inconsistencies that could have resulted if electric metrology of microstructures and nanostructures (including graphene) had been based on classical electrodynamics and the current SI definition of the ampere. The issue is discussed in the context of the New SI program, where the base electric unit is to be redefined by fixing the numerical value of the elementary charge. The conclusion supports the case for a prompt redefinition of the base electric unit, which will make the electric metrology in general, and the electric metrology of nanostructures in particular, coherent with the international system of units.

Opis:
Urban water resources are some of the main places where microorganisms can reproduce and where people can get easily infected. For these reasons, pools must be sterilized continuously. This can only be done if the water quality of the pool is in accordance with the standards of the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. Monitoring water quality in real-time gives an instant response opportunity. With the software prepared using the. Net architecture, real-time temperature, pH, and chlorine content values of a pool were transferred to a database. Swimming pool water quality was then evaluated and compared with the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs standards via the expert system technique, which is one of the artificial intelligence technologies. In this study, results of instant evaluation of the water quality made for water resources via telemetric systems, are reported. Additionally, a remotely-controlled dosing operation was performed.

Opis:
The article presents the concept of creating model of delays occurring in telecommunication system taking into account all sources of delays generated during data transmission between the source and destination nodes. Proposed model takes into account the existence of intermediary network devices that play a significant role in the general delay budget. The paper presents two measurement systems used to measure delays in 802.11 g based wireless networks and ones using ZigBee standard. Both systems were built based on the authors' concepts of hardware and software allowing measurement of delays by using additional connection for the synchronization of internal clocks. Described measurement systems selected amount of experiments was performed for varied network structures.

Opis:
The paper deals with the ways of finding an electrical conductivity tensor of a plane and anisotropically conductive sample. On the basis of the analysis of currents flowing through the electrodes at vertices of a rectangular sample, we derived specific electrical conductivity tensor calculation formula. The novelty of the present article is the use of the rectangular shape sample with arbitrarily directed sides in respect of the principal axes of the tensor. The influence of values of electrode lengths and the tensor components on the accuracy of these formulae is investigated. An iterative algorithm of increase of precision of calculating the tensor's components is presented.

Opis:
Sound power level of a noise source is determined by means of sound pressure level or sound intensity level measurements performed in accordance to relevant ISO standards. The determination of sound power level according to ISO 3744, 3745 and 3746 standards is used for free field or for approximated free field conditions. Kinds of measurement surfaces, enveloping the noise source, number of microphones and their positions over the measurement surface are stated in the applied ISO standard. The effects of measurement surface and number of microphone positions on the determination of sound power level were investigated theoretically. As a measurement surface; hemisphere, parallelepiped rectangular box and cylindrical surfaces were selected. Key and additional microphone positions were taken into account in the calculations as well. Sound pressure levels of a commercially available reference sound source were measured in hemi-anechoic room using FFT with 4 Hz steps and also at 1/1, 1/3, 1/12 and 1/24 octave bands for all surfaces defined in ISO 3744 and 3746 standards. Sound power level, directivity index and uncertainty contributions resulting from measurement surfaces and number of microphone positions were calculated by using data obtained in measurements. In this paper the theoretical and experimental results are presented.

Uncertainty evaluations in the photometric calibrations and established uncertainty budgets at National Metrology Institute of Turkey (TUBITAK-UME) are presented. Uncertainty analyses are cover calibrations of the luminous intensity, the luminous flux and the luminance properties of the optical light source. The combined uncertainty in each photometric calibration was evaluated using developed uncertainty models. The degrees of freedom in each input and output quantities were also determined. The coefficient of uncertainty contribution h(y,$x_i$) was finally determined to present the dominant and less important contributions.

Opis:
Dynamic calibration of the pressure transducers and accelerometers are carried out by applying dynamic mechanical inputs to them. Determination of those transducers' sensitivities, defined as the ratio of electrical output of the transducer to the mechanical input, is an important task for calibration laboratories. Data obtained during calibration are processed in order to have the peak values of the input and output signals which are sampled by data acquisition boards. Different approximations are made such as fitting the data in the range of 90% of the maximum value for parabola or half-sine waveform. It is clear that waveform model used and also the resolution and the sampling rate of the data acquisition boards have effects on the accuracy of the sensitivity of the transducer. For the investigation, the electrical output signal of the transducer corresponding to the mechanical input is recorded and simulated with different resolutions and sampling rates. Those data are processed for the waveforms of half-sine, parabola, Gaussian distribution. The effect of the waveform model of the input quantities on the dynamic sensitivity is discussed in this paper.

Opis:
Calibration of shock and vibration transducers is performed by using the methods described in ISO 16063-13 and 16063-22 standards, at primary and secondary levels respectively. At secondary level, the devices, generating mechanical shock, are pendulum shock calibrator, dropball shock calibrator, pneumatically operated piston shock calibrator and Hopkinson bar shock calibrator. The main parameters and requirements of the shock calibrator devices, named here, are also given in ISO 16063-22 standard. Pulse width and pulse amplitude are the important parameters in calibration of the shock and vibration transducers. Pulse width and shape depend on the material properties. In this paper the determination of pulse width and pulse amplitude characteristics of materials used in pendulum type shock calibration device, designed in TUBİTAK UME, is presented.

The paper deals with the ways of finding an electrical conductivity tensor of a plane and anisotropically conductive sample. Application of the Van der Pauw method to investigate the conductivity of anisotropically conductive media makes the basis of research. Several models of distribution of the electric field potential are presented, their merits and demerits are discussed, and the necessary physical measurements are indicated. On the basis of these models, the respective calculation expressions of the specific conductivity tensor are derived and algorithms for their realization and error calculation are developed.
