Opis:
Soliton evolution in spatially extended Josephson junction is studied for three types of ad hoc structural potentials describing tunnelling magnetic flux vortices; symmetric, ratchet and double-well. Setting from the inline geometry of the junction, the soliton dynamics could be modelled by the perturbed sine-Gordon equation. Numerical solutions of the latter equation yielded the soliton waves of the fluxon phase, for boundary conditions imposed on the system upon variation of the dispersion parameter α. It has been found that a change in the soliton waveform and intensity occurs as α goes higher, in dependence on the functional of the potential and its symmetry properties. For ratchet and double-well potential at α=0.5, a time-dependent forcing has been found to endorse the balance between dispersion and nonlinearity, jointly with enhancing the stability of the soliton wave. The McLoughlin-Scott perturbation theory has been adopted to show that the system conserves energy due to the delicate balance between nonlinearity and dispersion, so that the soliton keeps robust as it temporally evolves.

Electron localized in a quantum dot in the vicinity of conductor surface, causes an induced potential to appear. This potential enables self-focusing of electron wave function. Because of this feature, in a planar nanostructure consisting of a quantum well covered with a layer of an insulator, on top of which metal electrodes are deposited, formation of induced dots and quantum wires is possible. By applying appropriate voltages to the electrodes, it is feasible to transport an electron in a fully controllable way in a form of a stable wave packet between two specific locations in a nanodevice. While transporting an electron along properly shaped closed loops, spin-orbit coupling intrinsically present in a semiconductor nanostructure can be employed to perform operations on an electron spin.

In this paper, the (G'/G, 1/G) and (1/G')-expansion methods with the aid of Maple are used to obtain new exact traveling wave solutions of the Boussinesq equation and the system of variant Boussinesq equations. The travelling wave solutions are expressed by the hyperbolic functions, the trigonometric functions, and the rational functions. It is shown that the proposed method provides a powerful mathematical tool for solving nonlinear wave equations in mathematical physics and engineering.

Motion of kink solitons in the φ$\text{}^{4}$ model in the presence of external spatially inhomogeneous forces is studied. Depending on the system parameters various routes to chaos, i.e. Feigenbaum's scenario, type-I intermittency, and chaos-chaos intermittency are observed. Synchronization of chaotic solitons is investigated.

A Lagrangian based method is used to derive an analytical model for studying the dynamics of matter-wave bright soliton created in a harmonic potential which is attractive in the transverse direction and expulsive in the longitudinal direction. By means of sech trial functions and a Ritz optimization procedure, evolution equations are constructed for width, amplitude and nonlinear frequency chirp of the propagating soliton of the atomic condensate. Our equation for the width is an exact agreement with that of Carr and Castin, obtained by more detailed analysis. In agreement with the experiment of Paris group, the expulsive potential is found to cause the soliton to explode for N|$a_s$|=0.98, N being the number of atoms in the condensate and $a_s$ -- the scattering length of the atom-atom interaction.

The spatiotemporal collapse of the spin-dipole wave pulses of the millimeter wave range is investigated theoretically. The dispersion and the diffraction coefficients of spin-dipole wave have been calculated, when the retardation has been taken into account. It is demonstrated that YIG films are suitable for observing the wave collapse in the millimeter wave range, due to low dissipation and quite high values of dispersion and diffraction coefficients. In the hexaferrite films, despite the higher values of the dispersion and the diffraction coefficients, the dissipation prevents the formation of the spatiotemporal collapse. The additional focusing of the pulse can increase the nonlinear pulse compression. The numerical simulations have confirmed this result.

Interaction of domain walls in ferromagnetic stripes is studied with relevance to the formation of stable complexes of many domains. Two domain wall system is described with the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation including regimes of narrow and wide stripes which correspond the presence of transverse and vortex domain walls. The domain walls of both kinds are characterized with their chiralities (the direction of the magnetization rotation in the stripe plane) and polarities (the magnetization orientation in the center of a vortex and/or halfvortices), hence, their interactions are analyzed with dependence on these properties. In particular, pairs of the domain walls of opposite or like chiralities and polarities are investigated as well as pairs of opposite (like) chiralities and of like (opposite) polarities. Conditions of the creation of stationary bubbles built of two interacting domain walls are formulated with relevance to the situations of presence and absence of the external magnetic field.

Interactions of domain walls are analyzed with relevance to formation of stationary bubbles (bound state of two domain walls) and bound states of many domains in one-dimensional systems. We investigate the domain structures in ferromagnets which are described with the Landau-Lifshitz equation as well as the domains in critical systems described with the Ginzburg-Landau equation. Supplementing previous author studies on the creation of hard bubbles [formed by one Bloch domain wall and one Néel (Ising) domain wall] in the presence of an external (magnetic) field, the soft bubbles consisting of two Bloch domain walls or two Néel (Ising) domain walls are studied in detail. The interactions of two domain walls of the same kind are studied in the framework of a perturbation calculus.
