Artykuł związany jest z opisem Zaodrza (dzisiejsze Vorpommern) zapisanym w literaturze kaszubskojęzycznej. Literackie przedstawienie przestrzeni kulturowej Rugii czy Połabia ma za zadanie ukazać słowiańską i kaszubską moc istniejącą w Europie jeszcze przed dominacją chrześcijaństwa, ma również ideowo wspomóc walczące o swoje domowe i państwowe ojczyzny ludy słowiańskie. Zaodrze dla Kaszubów to jednocześnie chlubna i ciemna przeszłość słowiańszczyzny wciąż na nowo odciskająca się we współczesności. Utwory literatury kaszubskiej eksploatują treści historyczne, które są wywiedzione z zapisków dawnych kronikarzy, pełniąc rolę „dziejów bajecznych”, które miały przede wszystkim funkcję terapeutyczną. Rozpamiętywanie bitwy pod Reknicą, losów Słowian połabskich, znaczenia Arkony miało na społeczność kaszubską działać dydaktycznie i otrzeźwiająco. Dydaktycznie – ponieważ dawało wiedzę o ziemi ojców, otrzeźwiająco – ponieważ zachęcało do świadomościowego przebudzenia. Akcentowanie prakaszubskości Zaodrza w sytuacji zagrożenia germanizacją stawiało aktualne niedogodności i zagrożenia w szerokiej historiozoficznej perspektywie, która przynosiła pewną nadzieję dla kaszubskiej samoświadomości kulturowej.
The article is related to the description of Zaodrze (today known as Vorpommern) which is stored in the Kashubian literature. The literary representation of cultural space of Rugia and Połabia is to show Slavic and Kashubian power existing in Europe yet before the domination of Christianity. It also provides ideological support for Slavic nations, fighting for their home and state homelands. For the Kashubians Zaodrze is both the glorious and dark past of Slavs repeatedly imprinting itself in the present. Works of Kashubian literature exploit historical contents derived from the writings of ancient chroniclers, being “the fabulous history” that had primarily a therapeutic function. Remembrance of the Battle of Reknica, the fate of the Polabian Slavs and the meaning of Arkona were to exert a didactic and sobering influence on the Kashubian community. Didactic – because it gave the knowledge of the land of their fathers, sobering – as it encouraged the awakening of consciousness. Emphasizing that Zaodrze had been originally Kashubian in the situation of the Germanisation threat, placed the current drawbacks and risks in a wide historiosophical perspective, which brought some hope for Kashubian cultural self-awareness.

W artykule poddałam refleksji tekstualne konstrukcje projektu tożsamościowego oraz obraz Wolnego Miasta Gdańska w autobiografii wzrastającego tam artysty pochodzenia żydowskiego Franka Meislera zatytułowanej Zaułkami pamięci. Gdańsk – Londyn – Jaffa. Wychodząc od analizy narracyjnej, prześledziłam sposób portretowania kulturowego splotu Wolnego Miasta Gdańska i tamtejszej społeczności żydowskiej w jej zróżnicowaniu. Uwzględniłam zarówno kwestię ujmowania doświadczenia pogranicza i żydowskości, jak i różnice w ich przedstawianiu w stosunku do utartej matrycy postrzegania relacji Wschód–Zachód, a także wielojęzyczność jako motyw i strategię narracyjną. Tekst Meislera został ujęty w ramach literatury kulturowego pogranicza i postfaktograficznej literatury Holocaustu.
This article reflects on the textual constructions of identity and the image of the Free City of Gdańsk (Danzig) in Frank Meisler’s autobiography On the Vistula Facing East, 1996 (Zaułkami pamięci. Gdańsk–Londyn–Jaffa, 2014; An der Weichsel gegen Osten, 2016). The author was a British-Israeli artist born in 1925 in the Free City of Gdańsk. The narrative analysis conducted here explores how Meisler presents cultural entanglements in the Free City of Gdańsk and its diversified Jewish community. My aim is to examine his strategies for portraying the borderland experience, his multilingualism, and for incorporating the Jewishness into the matrix of the East-West relations. Meisler’s autobiography has been interpreted as an example of the literature of cultural borderlands and of post-factum Holocaust literature.

W dobie współczesnych przemian społeczno-kulturowych zaistniała potrzeba założeń programowych, które ukazywałyby pluralizm kulturowy i wyznaniowy wśród uczniów. Ta narastająca świadomość istniejących różnych wspólnot jest jednym z powodów, by edukacji przypisać znaczącą rolę w kształtowaniu modelu życia opartego na współdziałaniu jednostek i społeczności, całych społeczeństw – bez niszczących konfliktów narodowościowych, etnicznych, religijnych i kulturowych. Funkcjonowanie w zróżnicowanym kulturowo środowisku sprawia, że przyjmujemy charakterystyczny styl życia, zachowania i postępowania, czerpiąc więcej niż z jednego źródła kultury, przyswajając mniej lub bardziej świadomie różne wartości, bezpośrednio doświadczając innej kultury i wchodząc w bezpośrednie interakcje z jej reprezentantami. Zwyczaje, tradycje, folklor stanowią składnik rodzimej kultury każdego kraju, a zawarte w nich wzorce odgrywają bardzo ważną rolę w kształtowaniu tożsamości młodego człowieka. Należy ukazywać to, co piękne wokół nas. Uczyć doceniać, uczyć kochać i uczyć zachwycać się tym, co jest nam szczególnie bliskie. Wskazanie tego, co w regionie jest piękne, ciekawe i godne zaprezentowania, pozwala uczniom odczuć rdzenność tego regionu, a poprzez to wzbudzić przywiązanie i miłość do rodzinnej ziemi.
In the era of modern socio-cultural need for the program assumptions, which showed the cultural and religious pluralism among students. This growing awareness of the existing different communities is one of the reasons to education assign a significant role in shaping the life model based on the interaction of individuals and communities, entire societies – without destructive conflicts of national, ethnic, religious and cultural. Operating in a culturally diverse environment makes it assume a distinctive lifestyle, behavior and conduct, drawing from more than one source of culture, assimilating more or less consciously different values, directly experiencing other cultures and entering into direct interaction with its representatives. Customs, traditions, folklore, are a component of the native culture of each country, and they contain patterns play a very important role in shaping the identity of the young man. It should show what is beautiful around us. Learn to appreciate, learn to love and learn to delight in what is particularly close to us. Indication of what the region is beautiful, interesting and worthy of presentation allows students to feel earthness the region, and thus arouse affection and love for the native land.

Proces globalizacji stawia przed systemem edukacji nowe wyzwania. Jednym z nich jest potrzeba wyposażenia młodego pokolenia w kompetencje międzykulturowe pozwalające na pełne i świadome uczestnictwo w życiu społecznym. Wejście Polski do Unii Europejskiej otworzyło przed mieszkańcami naszego kraju możliwości podróżowania, pracy i osiedlania się w innych państwach. Członkostwo w Unii Europejskiej, a także rozwój gospodarczy kraju skutkuje również zwiększeniem się liczby obcokrajowców w naszym kraju. Polskie społeczeństwo przestaje być monokulturowe. Obywatelami państwa jest coraz więcej nie-Polaków, niekatolików, niebiałych. Przed polską szkołą staje więc zadanie przygotowania młodego pokolenia do życia w wielokulturowym świecie. Oznacza to z jednej strony zadanie zachowania tożsamości Polaków w warunkach wielokulturowości, z drugiej – ukształtowania postaw otwartości i poszanowania innych kultur. Dużą rolę w realizacji tego zadania przypisuje się edukacji przedszkolnej. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje, jak w polskich przedszkolach realizuje się założenia edukacji międzykulturowej.
The process of globalisation makes the educational system face new challenges. One of themis the need to provide a young generation with intercultural competences rendering it possible tobe a participant in the life a society in a complete and conscious manner. The accession of Polandto the European Union has opened to the inhabitants of our country the possibilities of travelling,pursuing professional career and settling down in different countries. The membership of theEuropean Union, and also the economic development of our country, is also bringing about theincrease in the number of foreigners in Poland. Polish society is losing its mono-cultural profile.More and more people who are not of Polish origin, who are not Catholics, who are not the representatives of the Caucasian race, are the citizens of our country.Therefore, Polish school is facing the task of preparing a young generation to living in a multi-cultural world. That means, on the one hand, the task of retaining identity by Poles in the conditions of multi-culturality, whereas, on the other one, shaping the attitudes of openness and respectfor different cultures. The role of pre-school education in fulfilling this task is seen as a major one.This article presents the manner in which the assumptions of intercultural education are implemented in Polish nursery schools.

Opracowanie to porusza słabo rozpoznane i opisane na polskim gruncie zagadnienie międzynarodowego zagranicznego wolontariatu krótkoterminowego – workcampu i jego znaczenia zarówno dla jego uczestników w zakresie odkrywania sensu życia, jak i propagowania idei pokoju na świecie, tolerancji, szacunku i dialogu międzynarodowego, a zatem realizacji celów i zadań edukacji międzykulturowej.
In the undertaken discussion, the attention is drawn to the possibilities of fulfilling orientation needs, shaping life orientations and constructing identities by committed, active people who work for others. The author focuses on the scarcely known and described (in Poland) phenomenon of international foreign short-term voluntary service – workcamp. Its significance for the participants is also emphasized – in regard to both discovering the sense of life and promoting the idea of global peace, tolerance, respect and international dialogue, which constitute the aims and tasks of intercultural education.

The article concerns an important aspect of the sociocultural identity which is the self-identification of an individual as a member of the community. The author stress es the importance of the profile description of an individual’s sociocultural identity. Current processes of globalization and increased mobility of people have caused that the competencies for intercultural communication become a condition for proper functioning of society. Together with a group of researchers from the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, University of Bialystok, we undertook a research on conditions of intercultural communication competence of young people in the Northeastern Poland. These competencies result from four dimensions: knowledge of cultural differences, reaction to situations involving cultural differences, position on the continuum of ethnocentrism - relativism and attitudes toward cultural diversity. In the text, I present the analysis of selected factors that influence the family which result in the development of communicative competence in the studied group. The main idea is that family, in spite of social changes, is still the most important socializing group which creates life attitudes of young people.

Opis:
Amulticultural society, moving from a reaction to differentiation to conscious cognition, understanding, dialogue, negotiation as well as cooperation and collaboration, creates multiculturalism. Relationships between representatives of various social and cultural environments as well as national, ethnic or religious groups are treated as a manifestation of the disappearance of social distance and one of the best indicators of integration. London’s multicultural environment, in which there is a clear tendency to collectively integrate cultural identity, enables the creation of intercultural relationships with their own cultural identity. This phenomenon includes various strategies of the acculturation process and mutual adaptation of people from different countries, cultures, religions and speaking different languages. The multicultural identity of mixed relationships is determined, interalia, by the obligations of marriage resulting from the fulfilment of marital roles and compliance with the marital identity. Identity sets internal boundaries between spouses and regulates contacts with family and friends in the family, local, neighbourhood, and global environment.

What is focused on in the search for the mechanisms of constructing young people’s identity is the role and significance of the socio-cultural environment and formal and non-formal intercultural education, which supports individuals in the unceasing creation of their own Self, in understanding the world and organizing positive intercultural relations. In the theoretical framework of the undertaken considerations, the following concepts are referred to: J. Kozielecki’s concept of the multidimensional human, J. Nikitorowicz’s concept of constantly created identity, T. Lewowicki’s theory of identity behaviours, and M. Sobecki’s concept of identification profiles. The assumption is made that shaping the multidimensional identity of the young first of all requires cultural rooting, educational activities and the support of educational policy. Against the background of the research conducted systematically for 25 years among the youth from the Polish-Czech borderland, the dynamics is shown of shaping the young generation’s feeling of identity. Moreover, the intensity of identifications is diagnosed as well as young people’sidentification profiles, which provide information on interrelations between particularidentification dimensions in declarations of a person. Autorka pracy omawia problem tożsamości meksykańskiej, w tym zakorzenionych w tradycji i historii wspólnot indiańskich działań podejmowanych na rzecz ochrony języków autochtonicznych, m.in. charakteryzuje zasady i podstawy międzykulturowej edukacji dwujęzycznej w Meksyku. Na tym tle przedstawia projekt Cyfrowej Kolekcji Języków Tubylczych (Acervo Digital de Lenguas Indígenas) oraz omawia wyznaczniki kulturowej tożsamości zamieszczonych w niej książek. Koncentruje uwagę przede wszystkim na twórcach, języku i tematyce książek dla najmłodszych czytelników.
The paper discusses the problem of Mexican identity, including actions taken to protect indigenous languages, rooted in the tradition and history of Indian communities. Above all, it defines the principles and foundations of intercultural bilingual education in Mexico. In contrast, the article presents the project of the Digital Collection of Indigenous Languages (Acervo Digital de Lenguas Indígenas) and discusses the determinants of the cultural identity of the books it contains, primarily the creators, language, and subject matter of books for the youngest readers.

Członkowie mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych, będący polskimi obywatelami, mają prawo do darmowej edukacji, którą na łamach niniejszego artykułu określam mianem edukacji etnicznej. Może ona funkcjonować w nurcie formalnym, jako element polskiego systemu oświaty. Często rodzi się jednak pytanie o ewaluację, sprawdzenie skuteczności edukacji etnicznej, finansowanej z budżetu państwa. Jest ona bowiem ukierunkowana na kształtowanie tożsamości etnicznej, która niełatwo poddaje się operacjonalizacji i badaniom ewaluacyjnym. W tekście tym podejmuję więc namysł nad metodą i narzędziem, które mogłyby przyczynić się do rozwiązania zarysowanego powyżej problemu. Podejście ilościowe do kwestii związanych z badaniem tożsamości etnicznej, popularne w USA, na gruncie polskich badań społecznych w zasadzie nie występuje. Dlatego też, chcąc wykazać pewne możliwości psychometrycznego podejścia do omawianej kwestii, podjąłem się dokonania kulturowej adaptacji testu Multigropup Ethnic Identity Measurement, funkcjonującego już od kilkunastu lat w amerykańskiej metodologii badania tożsamości etnicznej. Wyniki badania oraz parametry testu prezentuję na łamach niniejszego artykułu.
Members of national and ethnic minorities, who are Polish citizens, have the right to free education, which I refer to in this article as ethnic education. Ethnic education is formally an element of the Polish education system. However, there is a question about the evaluation, checking the effectiveness of ethnic education, which is financed from the state budget. Ethnic education is aimed at shaping an ethnic identity which is not easily subject to operationaliza tion and evaluation research. In this text, therefore, I consider a method and a tool that could help to solve the problem outlined above. The quantitative approach to issues of ethnic identity, popular in the USA, in principle does not exist on the basis of Polish social research. Therefore, in order to demonstrate some possibilities of a psychometric approach to the discussed issue, I undertook a cultural adaptation of the Multigropup Ethnic Identity Measurement test, which has been functioning for several years in the American methodology. The research results and test parameters are presented in this article.

The paper presents an overview discussion of the conceptualizations of intercultural communicative competence (ICC) formulated by Russian scholars. The conceptions of the ICC are quite diverse as well as terminology used by the scholars. The authors place emphasis on the psychological aspects of the ICC, distinguishing psycho- physiological, personality, socio-psychological and psycho-pedagogical levels of its analysis.

Opis:
What is referred to are the results of nationwide quantitative and qualitative studies conducted in several academic environments. The research constitutes the background against which the condition (the current health, inner intellectual and professional situation) of future teachers is shown as well as the determinants of their preparation for work in multicultural conditions. An authored multisided model of teachers’ education has been also presented. The research approach and interpretation of results have been subordinated mainly to social developmental psychology, the idea of constructivist understanding of individual and social development and intercultural education. In applying the constructivist approach, incorporated into pedagogy from other disciplines, the author’s proposal can be seen referring to constructivism with the aim of understanding experiences of adults. It should be emphasized that in the pedagogical literature this mainly concerns the knowledge of small children. The presented study provides a lot of new information and opens new prospects of further research on the border of intercultural education and general pedagogy, pedeutology, several sub-disciplines of psychology and sociology, as well as of other fields of broadly understood humanities, which can enhance the development of intercultural pedagogy.
