- The articl e is devoted to the co nsideratio n of names in terms of la ngua ge fashio n. The purpose of the articl e is to study the influence of fashio n on the formatio n and develo pment of the famil y system of the modern Bela rusia n area. To ac hieve this goal , the au thor anal yzes the anthroponymic material of the bu siness li terature of the Grand Duc hy of Lithua nia from the 14th to the 17th centuries, as well as the unpubli shed metric book s of the 18th and 19th centuries. The docu ments studied were written in Old Bela rusia n, Latin, Poli sh and Russia n. Ba sed on the anal ysis of a significa nt number of sou rces, the signs of surnames as fashio nabl e ob jects are determined ba sed on the sociolo gical co ncept of fashio n, the features of the formatio n and functio ning of surnames from the poi nt of view of the la ngua ge mode are describ ed, fashio nabl e nominative tendenci es suc h as orientatio n to foreign naming models, the replac ement of single-co mponent surnames by doubl e ones co mponents), the use of geminatio n, repetitio n at all la ngua ge levels that ca n perform a game functio n. A diac hronic study of the evolu tio n of the famil y system from the poi nt of view of the phenomenon of fashio n mak es it possibl e to identify fashio nabl e nominative tendenci es dominating in different perio ds, and al so to try to explai n the appearance of fashio n trends in the modern famil y name system.
