Opis:
The prayer is a fundamental reality in the life of a Christian striving for holiness. This article presents the issue of prayer in the writings of Polish saint Urszula Ledóchowska. The Author on the basis of her writings is trying to answer the question: what conditions must be achieved to pray in the right way. At the beginning of the paper he presents a broad understanding of pray- er, which is primarily a kind of bridge between the temporality and eternity, between a man and a God. The heart of prayer is remaining in communion with God, which is made possible by the virtue of love. It the next part presents the basic difficulties linked with prayer, shows also an appropriate attitude for the process of prayer, such as: the internal focusing, the living faith, the perseverance, and the living in harmony with others. In the final part of the article discusses the basic characteristics of the saint Ursula’s prayer, like her devotion to the Agonizing Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Opis:
The article presents the pursuit of the fullness of life in God by the saint patrons of the Archdiocese of Poznan, namely the saint bishop and martyr Stanislaw of Szczepanow, the blessed bishop and hermit Bogumil and the saint sister Urszula Ledochowska. The presentation is done according to the scheme: determinants of spiritual life - the most important elements and manifestations of sanctity. The inferences and assertions resulting from the conducted analyses are included in the conclusion. The study is preceded by a recapitulation of the basic truths regarding Christian spir- itual life and the role of saints in the lives of Christians. Studies have shown, among other things, that each of the patrons came into the world in a family with a deep faith and received a vocation to dedicate their life to God. In saint Stanislaus and saint Urszula you can see great organizational talents, a very friendly and gentle reference to others, concern for those in need of help and support, and the greatness of their dedication to others. In blessed Bogumil, the most noticeable feature is his love for hidden life and the practice of severe penance. All three share a commitment to evan- gelization. Each of them reveals a passion for prayer, a concern for being in deep communion with Christ, living with Christ and for Him the experience of suffering and awareness of responsibility for the salvation of others, as well as distance to material goods.

Opis:
St. Urszula Ledóchowska- the founder of the Ursulines Sisters of the Order of Dying Heart of Jesus (Sióstr Urszulanek Serca Jezusa Konającego) – whose personality is usually discribed by the formula – Polish and European – lived and worked in difficult times in the first half of the twentieth century. Above all, she was the mistress of the spiritual life. In her attitude towards the the world and people, she was able to perfectly combine contemplation and activity. In the center of her spirituality, she has placed the mystery of Jesus Crucified – The Dying Heart and His Mother. A strong faith in God, putting trust in Him, should – according to her beliefs – shape human life that should be giving constant witness to the Risen Christ. At the same time the Saint was a person deeply involved in the problems of everyday life. Since her entrance to the Ursulines (Urszulanki) in Kraków, St. Urszula Ledóchowska gave great importance of girls education. During her stays in Russia, Sweden, Denmark, and then after returning to the free Poland, to Pniewy; she established schools with a modern program of education, where intellectual development was closely connected with the development of spiritual and religious. The school was supposed to be a community shaped like a ‘small church’ and its purpose was to teach and educate. St. Urszula Ledóchowska demanded from the teachers not only education and good manners, but primarily tolerance and ‘cheerfulness’ that comes from the certainty of faith in God. Therefore, her life was ‘a rosary embodied in an act’ and the act were Faith, Hope and Love.
