Opis:
In this article, we will delve into two key aspects: the family as a fundamental and prioritized value within everyday values and the aspirations of young people regarding marriage. The sociological analysis is grounded in the outcomes of public opinion surveys and research conducted in the first and second decades of the 21st century. Throughout the 20th century and the initial decade of the 21st century, family and contented family life consistently held the top spot among the life goals of Poles, standing out as one of the most cherished values. However, in the course of the accelerated transformation of Polish society, success or a thriving professional career is emerging as a distinct life value for young Poles, competing to some extent with the significance attributed to family. Notably, around 60% of respondents among school youth express a commitment to formal marriage in their future plans.
W niniejszym artykule zwrócimy uwagę na trzy kwestie: na rodzinę jako wartość podstawową i priorytetową wśród wartości codziennych oraz na plany młodzieży zawarcia związku małżeńskiego. Przeprowadzone analizy socjologiczne opierają się na wynikach sondaży opinii publicznej i rezultatach badań socjologicznych zrealizowanych w pierwszej i drugiej dekadzie XXI wieku. Rodzina i szczęśliwe życie rodzinne znajdowały się w XX wieku i w pierwszej dekadzie XXI wieku na pierwszym miejscu wśród celów życiowych Polaków, należała do najwyżej cenionych wartości. W procesie przyspieszonej transformacji społeczeństwa polskiego sukces czy kariera zawodowa stają się poniekąd osobliwą wartością życiową młodych Polaków, do pewnego stopnia konkurujących z wartością rodziny. Wśród młodzieży szkolnej około 60% badanych jest zdecydowanych w przyszłości zawrzeć formalny związek małżeński. Przeprowadzone analizy socjologiczne opierają się na wynikach sondaży opinii publicznej i rezultatach badań socjologicznych, zrealizowanych w pierwszej i drugiej dekadzie XXI wieku.

The article discusses the concept of “meaning-making” and age crises as one of the main categories of psychology, and their relationship with the humanities. Existing scientific developments do not pay enough attention to the study of conscious motives and meaning in adults. The practical relevance of this problem is determined, on the one hand, by dynamic processes in the education system, on the other hand - the need to increase life experience, improve the quality of life in general. The article presents a semantic model of the process of meaning-making. The system of meaning-making is connected with the educational system, which includes the semantic sphere. The structure of the system of meaningmaking is the interaction of objects of social development of ways of thinking, views, and cultural activities. The article also describes the concept of age crisis and how it depends on meaning-making. Age development to a new qualitatively specific stage of meaning-making is characterized by abrupt psychological changes in a person’s life. The processes and psychological features of meaningmaking of adults is studied in the current uncertainty of the social, economic, and political situation which forces a person to constantly determine their position and view of the world. The solution of this important question is primarily associated with the activity of a person’s consciousness, which is aimed at identifying the meanings of ongoing events, the constant search for new meanings on the basis of which it would be possible to determine one’s place and vital role in the changing reality. It is found that meaning-making of a personality, its clear awareness, and its reliability are determined by viability, professional, family, and age self-determination in life, which depends on an individual, their life position, sociopsychological, and social maturity and activity. Based on the empirical study, it is concluded that age largely determines the importance of life values and spheres for a person, the level of realization of value orientations, the level of motivation and the level of self-actualization of the adult personality.

The article deals with the issues of building exploitation and maintenance and focuses on the characteristics of the maintenance strategies mentioned in the ISO 15686-5:2017 Buildings and constructed assets - Service life planning - Part 5: Life-cycle costing. The article describes all three strategies recommended by the ISO standard (preventive, corrective and deferred maintenance). The purpose of the article is to conduct whole life costs analysis of three variants of modernisations, renovations and maintenance strategies for a selected building. The methods of economic efficiency assessment were used, such as net present value (NPV) method and internal rate of return (IRR) method.

Aim. The study purpose is to explain the value-targeted predictors of future journalists’ life-creation as an indicator of their readiness for professional growth and fulfilment of their humanitarian mission.  Methods. The study used the methods of theoretical analysis, synthesis and modelling of the process of personality realization. The empirical study on the value-target factors of future journalists’ life-creation consisted of two stages: 1) the selection of relevant psychological examining techniques in order to explain the value-target factors as a complex independent variable, on the one hand, and the corresponding features of the life implementation process as characteristics (partial and generalized) of a dependent variable, on the other hand (a total of 12 psychodiagnostic techniques were used); 2) the correlation and factor analyses of the obtained empirical data. Results. The performed factor analysis revealed several factors related to particular modes of life implementation, an individual’s certain subjective position in this mode or on the way to it, psychological mechanisms and predictors of becoming an Insider, Expert or Author in personal life, some of their important attributes that generally confirm the triangulation model of an individual’s life implementation. The first one, “An Author – a life-creating agent in the integrative mode of life implementation”, is the most informative and the most loaded by the following indicators: life meaningfulness and purpose in life, psychological well-being, existential fullness with life meaning, self-control and self-acceptance, activity, locus of control-life, etc.   Conclusions. The article presents the verification of the triangulation psychological-hermeneutic model of a life-implementation process, which is formed by orthogonal vectors: one of them is intuitive-sensory comprehension and designing and the second is discursive-logical goal-setting and achievement of life aspirations by an individual. The performed factor analysis of the value-target factors of future journalists’ life-creation revealed the relevant predictors of life implementation. They concerned such concepts as an individual’s life position (a Reader and an Author, an Observer and an Insider, an Epigone and an Expert); the trajectory of their life, for example, from an Insider to an Author, or from an Epigone to en Expert; and psychological mechanisms of life implementation (reflection, intuition, anticipation, empathy, facilitation, etc.) in certain life-implementation modes (internal, external and integrative).

The objective of this article is to examine how people value two different attributes of Value of Life Year (VOLY): life expectancy and the quality of life. The results of the first VOLY estimations conducted in Poland are discussed and compared with Polish cost-effectiveness thresholds for medical treatments in the period 2008–2020. The Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) method was used to value two attributes of VOLY: increase in life expectancy and improvement in the quality of life. The VOLY research was conducted in two populations: general and dialysis. Depending on their current health status, people value increased life expectancy and improvement in health quality differently. In light of these results, the VOLY should be differentiated. Also in the Quality Adjusted Life Year (QALY) indicator, the weights of the attributes of length and quality of life should be varied according to different states of health. A uniform cost-effectiveness threshold is not justified from the perspective of stated preferences. Cost-effectiveness thresholds based on demand-side values should be differentiated. Current Polish cost-effectiveness thresholds are overestimated compared to valuations based on stated preferences. The article presents the first estimations of two attributes of VOLY: life expectancy and the quality of life, carried out in Poland.

The demographic situation in Ukraine makes public authorities think about the problem of the value and dignity of human life. The task of bioethics is to raise ethical and moral requirements to a higher level, including the spiritual level of health care workers, and to harmonize the existing health legislation with its principles. The proposed article is an attempt to eliminate the gap in the regulatory improvement of the health care system on the values and principles of bioethics. Many definitions used by Ukrainian law are contingent, imperfect, and contradictory to bioethics. The purpose of the publication is to provide a scientific and theoretical substantiation of the necessity of normative and legal improvement of the health care system on values and principles of bioethics, which will serve the interests of a person, his/her dignity and unique value. The absence of consistency in the legislation gives rise to the pluralism of interpretations about the beginning of a person’s life, which is a significant drawback in the legal field since this point concerns the inherent human right to life. The basis of inadmissibility of discrimination in the name of the equal dignity of all human beings may concern all periods of human existence from the moment of fertilization to natural death, covering special stages: initial, suffering and dying. Public administration bodies need to involve social institutions represented by reputable bioethics experts, scientists, doctors, public activists, with the help of which the regulatory support for health care reform will be safe and beneficial for the whole society.

In a concise, synthetic form, a discussion is undertaken around the main conceptual, theoretical and methodological premises of the research concept adopted in the paper as well as the cognitive value of analyses and interpretations derived from the collected research material. The paper also draws the attention of the readers to the original character and advantages of that publication.

Work is the basic form of human activity. The value of work in people’s lives is shaped under the influence of educational, cultural, social and economic processes. The following results of empirical research show the position of work in the hierarchy of values of people migrating to earn their living. In this case, work is mostly perceived as instrumental value being a means of gaining other values. However, it is not devoid of some aspects of being a value in itself (autotelic).

Der Artikel präsentiert metaethische Grundlagen für die Möglichkeit, die soziale Wahrnehmung der Werte in Anlehnung an die Analyse der Schriften von Peter Singer zu verändern. Es wird die These aufgestellt, dass Singer das Prinzip der Interessenabwägung als das Beurteilungsinstrument der vorgeschlagenen Veränderungen in den sozialen Werten anwendet. Einen innovativen Akzent des Artikels stellt die Bemerkung dar, dass einige Veränderungen im Verständnis des Wertes des menschlichen Lebens und ihre Implikationen, die aus der Anwendung des Prinzips der gleichen Interessenabwägung in der ethischen Reflexion (die vom Philosophen auf einem kritischen Niveau der moralischen Schlussfolgerung geführt wird) resultieren, nicht als Prinzipien auf intuitivem Niveau verbreitet werden können, wegen der Anwendung des Prinzips der gleichen Interessenabwägung auf metaethischem Niveau.
Following an analysis of Peter Singer’s works the article reviews metaethical grounds for possible change of perception regarding social values. The author asserts that Singer applies the principle of equal consideration of interests as a tool to assess proposed changes in societal values. The novel point made in this paper is the observation that some changes in perceiving the values of human life and their implications arising from applying the principle of equal consideration of interests in ethical reflection conducted by the philosopher on the critical level of moral reasoning, cannot be promoted as principles on the intuitive level due to the application of the principle of equal consideration of interests on the metaethical level.
Artykuł przedstawia metaetyczne podstawy dla możliwości zmiany społecznego postrzegania wartości, w oparciu o analizę prac Petera Singera. Tezą artykułu jest, że Singer stosuje zasadę równego rozważania interesów jako narzędzie oceny proponowanych zmian w wartościach społecznych. Nowatorskim akcentem artykułu jest dostrzeżenie, że niektóre zmiany w rozumieniu wartości życia ludzkiego oraz ich implikacje wynikające z zastosowania zasady równego rozważania interesów w refleksji etycznej, prowadzonej przez filozofa na krytycznym poziomie rozumowania moralnego, nie mogą być popularyzowane jako zasady ma poziomie intuicyjnym, ze względu na zastosowanie zasady równego rozważania interesów na poziomie metaetycznym.

Artykuł jest próbą podjęcia fenomenologicznej refleksji nad nadzieją. Na drodze tego badania z jednej strony przeciwstawiam się popularnej praktyce „teologizowania” nadziei, tj. traktowania jej jako cnoty teologalnej, z drugiej – naukowym usiłowaniom jej naturalizowania. W rezultacie odkrywam nadzieję jako „nadzieję egzystencjalną”, która przedstawia się jako fundamentalny sposób bycia egzystencji.
The article is an attempt at phenomenological reflection on hope. On the way of this study, on the one hand, I oppose the popular practice of "theologizing" of hope, i.e. treating it as a theological virtue, on the other - the scientific attempts to naturalize it. As a result, I discover hope as "existential hope" which presents itself as a fundamental „way of being” of existence.

Problematyka świętości ludzkiego życia, począwszy od jego rozwoju w fazie prenatalnej, jest stałym tematem zarówno chrześcijańskiej, jak i żydowskiej refleksji teologicznej. W judaizmie problematyka ta jawi się jako ściśle związana z obowiązkiem prokreacji, rozumianym jako dążenie do upowszechniania chwały Bożej w świecie. Życie jest chwałą Bożą, gdyż Bóg jest Bogiem żyjącym i w Nim życie ma swe źródło oraz uzasadnienie. Nade wszystko zaś chwałą Bożą jest żyjący człowiek, uczyniony „według istoty i umysłu” Boga (Rdz 1,26). W niniejszym artykule autor podejmuje rozważania na temat żydowskiego pojmowana pryncypium świętości ludzkiego życia. W teologii żydowskiej, począwszy od biblijnej starożytności aż po czasy współczesne, pozostaje ono w organicznym związku z nakazem prokreacji: „Bądźcie płodni i rozmnażajcie się” (Rdz 1,28). Celem artykułu jest także wskazanie na fakt, iż między chrześcijanami i żydami istnieje przestrzeń do współpracy pro-life, która może przybrać formę wspólnych działań na rzecz promocji i ochrony życia poczętego. Zarówno Kościół, jak i Synagoga swe poglądy antropologiczno-embriologiczne wyprowadzają z Pisma Świętego.
The issue of the sanctity of human life, beginning with its development in the prenatal phase, is a constant topic of both Christian and Jewish theological reflection. In Judaism, it is closely related to the duty of procreation, understood as striving to disseminate the glory of God in the world. Life is the glory of God, because God is a living God and in him life has its source and justification. Above all, the glory of God is a living man, made “according to the essence and mind” of God (Gen 1,26). In this article, the author ponders on the subject of the Jewish conception of the sanctity of human life. In Jewish theology, from biblical antiquity to modern times, it remains in organic relation with the proclamation of procreation: “Be fruitful and multiply” (Gen 1,28). The aim of the article is also to point out that there is a space for pro-life cooperation between Christians and Jews, which may take the form of joint actions for the promotion and protection of conceived life. Both the Church and the Synagogue derive their anthropological and embryological views from the Holy Bible.

Opis:
Personalizm to nadanie czemuś charakteru osobistego, osobowość człowieka, wychowanie osoby, aksjologia to wartości, a resocjalizacja to przemiana (zmiana) osobowości jednostki (osoby) ukierunkowanej na stronę wolności, samodzielnego podejmowania decyzji i pełnienie ról społecznych, mającej możliwość autonomicznego i wolnego decydowania. Celem artykułu jest rozwinięcie (interpretacja, kontynuacja) ostatniego akapitu mojej − będącej studium naukowym − publikacji, uwzględniającej osiągnięcia współczesnej pedagogiki, psychologii penitencjarnej i nauczania Magisterium Kościoła, pt.: Destygmatyzacja przestępców w świetle Magisterium Kościoła oraz poglądów na resocjalizację. W ramach swoich rozważań pedagogiczno-resocjalizacyjnych, w zgodzie z wymową Magisterium Kościoła, sformułowałem koncepcję (współbrzmiącą z szeroko pojmowanym nurtem humanistyczno-egzystencjalnym, m.in. z psychologią humanistyczną i pozytywną, a także z wychowaniem aksjologicznym ukierunkowanym na osobowościowy potencjał człowieka), którą nazwałem personalistyczną aksjologią resocjalizacji. Metodologią zastosowaną przy pisaniu przedmiotowej publikacji stało się przeprowadzenie krytycznej analizy literatury, w tym własnego dorobku naukowego i innych dokumentów, w tym dostępnych zasobów internetowych.
Personalism means giving something of a personal character, the personality of a person, raising a person – axiology is a value – and resocialization is a change (change) – personality of a person oriented towards the side of freedom, independent decision making and social roles having the possibility of autonomous and free decision making. The aim of the article is to develop (interpretation, continuation) the last paragraph of my – a scientific study –publication, taking into account the achievements of contemporary pedagogy, penitentiary psychology and teaching of the Church’s Magisterium: Destigmatization of criminals in the light of the Church’s Magisterium and views on rehabilitation. As part of my pedagogical and social rehabilitation considerations, in accordance with the pronunciation of the Church’s Magisterium, I formulated a concept (in harmony with the broadly understood humanistand existential trend, including humanistic and positive psychology, as well as axiological education directed at the personality potential of a human being). I called the personalistic axiology of resocialization. The methodology used to write this publication was to conduct a critical analysis of literature, including my work and other documents, including available Internet resources.

The axiological face of the third century. The aim of the article is to show some axiological aspects of old age. Axiological thinking, or thinking according to values, takes us into the areas of human responsibility for the value of life and responsibility for the richness of life experiences that constitute the life wisdom of older people. The second area of responsibility is caring for older people as witnesses of the past, who is a teacher of wisdom for the future. The third field of responsibility is concern for fidelity to tradition. Elderly people are irreplaceable in maintaining bonds between tradition and the future. The author of the article also shows the need to care for older people in their multiple life needs and civilization threats. The quality of life of older people and their place and role in the family and society are not only an indicator of the quality of social life and the level of social welfare, but above all are a meaningful sign of the quality of social respect for the values and dignity of older people. The author of the article also stresses the important role of education and knowledge acquisition offered to the elderly of Universities of the Third Age.

The article deals with the problem of “quality of life” from the philosophical perspective. In contemporary scientific studies, the issue of quality of life is analyzed in sociological, political and medical aspects. The author of the article is looking for a philosophical model of theoretical reflection on the quality of life, he refers to this problem in the recognition philosophy of values. His research is based on the ideas of Max Scheler, and his later continuators. The author analyzes the problem of “quality of life” in the axiological, biological and cultural perspectives. The philosophical thought, and especially its axiological approach, is necessary to understand the phenomenon of quality of life in different contexts.
Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce jakości życia ujętej od strony filozoficznej. We współczesnych opracowaniach naukowych ta kwestia jest analizowana od strony socjologicznej, politologicznej, medycznej. Poszukując modelu teoretycznego refleksji nad jakością życia odwołuję do filozofii wartości, opieram się na koncepcji Maksa Schelera i Nicolai Hartmanna i ich późniejszych kontynuatorów. Wątek „jakości życia” opracowuję w perspektywie aksjologicznej, biologicznej i kulturowej. W moim przekonaniu wszystkie te trzy perspektywy składają się na to, co określamy mianem „jakości życia”. Namysł filozoficzny, a szczególnie ujęcie aksjologiczne jest niezbędne do zrozumienia tego fenomenu w szerokiej zróżnicowanej perspektywie

Essay writing by Bolesław Leśmian, a graduate of law, draws attention not only to the presence of the philosophical or sociological context but also the legal one while his poetry seems to be completely detached from legal practice. The issue of legal protection of values represented by life is depicted in the interpretation of two dissimilar poetic works, namely the ballad Asoka from the volume Łąka (The Meadow) and the poem starting with the words “Przez śnieżycę, co wyjąc powiększa przestworza” from Dziejba leśna (Forest Happenings). Aśoka, a monarch and lawmaker in ancient India, guaranteed it in his addresses. It paths the way to the spiritual for the hero of many legends. In the 20th century the value of human life is guarded by “a representative of law”, uniformed police officer whose very presence in the street prevents robbery. In both cases life is treated by Leśmian as the highest value motivated metaphysically, which opens the way for further reflections concerning the grandeur of law as understood by the poet as well as to the question whether the issue of connections between literature and law, already known from the research into the literary output of Franz Kafka, may help understand Bolesław Leśmian’s outlook on life.
W eseistyce Bolesława Leśmiana, absolwenta studiów prawniczych, zwraca uwagę nie tylko obecność kontekstu filozoficznego czy socjologicznego, ale także prawnego, podczas gdy jego poezja wydaje się całkowicie odległa od zagadnień prawa. W zaproponowanej w artykule interpretacji dwóch niepodobnych utworów poetyckich, ballady Asoka z tomu Łąka i wiersza o incipicie „Przez śnieżycę, co wyjąc powiększa przestworza” z tomu Dziejba leśna, ukazana zostaje kwestia prawnej ochrony wartości, jaką stanowi życie. Władca i prawodawca starożytnych Indii, Aśoka, zagwarantował ją w swoich orędziach. Bohaterowi licznych legend otwiera to drogę do tego, co duchowe. W XX wieku wartości ludzkiego życia strzeże „przedstawiciel prawa”, umundurowany policjant, którego sama obecność na ulicy udaremnia rozbój. W obu przypadkach życie traktowane jest przez Leśmiana jako najwyższa wartość, motywowana metafizycznie, co otwiera drogę do dalszych rozważań dotyczących wzniosłości prawa w rozumieniu poety, a także do pytania, czy zagadnienie związków literatury i prawa, znane z badań nad twórczością Franza Kafki, może pomóc w zrozumieniu światopoglądu Bolesława Leśmiana.
