Opis:: This paper presents one of the possibilities of a new view at the notion of linguistic competence based on the concept of language games by Ludwig Wittgenstein. In contrast to “mental” perception of language competence as universal grammar encoded in genome, it underlines the importance of performativity and mediality. The understanding of a message content refers necessarily to how we use words in specific language games and how we cope with various sign systems and media spaces. The concept of language games competence proposed by a German researcher Jan Georg Schneider is based on the latest, culture related research concerning mediality issues (including in particular transcriptivity as presented by Ludwig Jäger), performativity and theory of language.

Opis:: Mikhail Zoshchenko creates specific configurations of word and stylistic constructions using foreign-language parentheses in form of separate lexems, expressions and syntactic structures inserted into passages of a protagonist’s speech. The phenomenon of compilation of Russian and foreign-language forms [or quasi-foreign — taking into consideration the significant number of distortions] can be illustrated by the short story ‘История с переодеванием’. The interlocutors in the text, who in fact cannot speak any foreign language, pretend to use ‘foreign’ words and expressions, involving themselves in a specific verbal game. Their dialogue consists of collocations carried to absurdity, for example: ‘...их бин ейне шамбер-циммер Испания. Компрене? Испания. Падеспань’; ‘Ву зет Германия, одер, может быть, что-нибудь другое?’. Such words and foreign illogical collocations appear to be a unique stylistic device in Zoshchenko’s texts. Their specific features are determined by foreign lexical units usually belonging to several languages. Most frequent are syntactic structures containing Germanisms and Gallicisms. What is more, in Zoshchenko’s texts the foreign parenthetic words and expressions are used exclusively in Russian graphics, which leads to certain changes and modifications of their semantic and phonetic structures according to the model of the Russian language. Transliteration does not reflect the adequate articulation of foreign words and, consequently, results in grotesque effects.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to present how the approach towards linguistic correctness of current users of the Polish language is reflected in Internet memes. The starting point is the assumption that language norms in online communication are treated in a different manner than usual. However, the high frequency of deviations from norms in online texts (especially in memes) does not mean a simple neglecting of the rules of linguistic correctness, as it includes both unintentional and accidental breaches of norms (coming from ignorance, lack of knowledge of rules or carelessness) and intentional actions of functional character, dictated mostly by treating the language in a ludic manner. In this article, the analysis of deviations from norms in memes is subordinated to presenting their purpose, which could be one of the following: linguistic fun, satire, anarchist defiance or provocation, attracting attention of recipients in order to distinguish the meme among massive amounts of information, and the diagnosis of linguistic correctness of specific people or representatives of various social groups (e.g. junior high school students, sports fans, blokers, sports commentators, teachers, elderly women). Moreover, creating negative protagonists of memes by attempting to imitate their language, which consists mostly of repeating their linguistic errors, allowed for the recreation of linguistic awareness of Internet users, e.g. for indicating the most ridiculed types of errors (spelling, phonetic and lexical). The key conclusion from the analysis is the indication of memes exemplifying the alignment with norms as a value, even if its appreciation is preceded by the (apparent) rejection of all rules.

Opis:: The paper addresses B. Norman's humorous etymological Russian dictionary. By reanalyzing the morphological structure of Russian words, Norman provides them with knowingly false, amusing interpretations. The paper proposes to investigate the word-formation aspects of Norman’s re-analyzed lexis. It mostly represents an attempt to “build” the false etymological entities into the system of all existing word-formation techniques of the Russian language. Specific features of amusing para-etymology are also identified.

Opis:: The article provides an overview of the concept of language game. The linguistic language game in the speech of the teacher was studied with the help of a three-year sociolinguistic experiment with the use of dictaphone records, the method of included observation and questioning, which covered about 1,700 informers. The author examined the language game in the speech of the teacher from the position of linguoecology, developed the criteria for determining the linguoecological / non-linguistic nature of the result of the language game. In the article, all the level types of language games are consistently characterized, considering the sign of the linguoecological / non-linguoecological character of the evaluative statements of the teacher. It is shown that the language game is an effective way to create an atmosphere of creativity and cooperation in the class. It is determined that among the comic techniques the most linguoecological is antiphrasis. It is revealed that many methods of language play violate the linguoecological nature of speech, if the game vector is aimed at discrediting the learner, the statement is permeated with self-abasement or contains invectives «softened» by the language game method.
В статье представлен обзор понятия языковой игры. Лингвистическая языковая игра в речи педагога исследована при помощи трехлетнего социолингвистического эксперимента с применением диктофонных записей, метода включенного наблюдения и анкетирования, охватившего около 1.700 информаторов. Автор рассмотрел языковую игру в речи педагога с позиции лингвоэкологии, разработал критерии определения лингвоэкологичности / нелингвоэкологичности результата языковой игры. В статье последовательно характеризуются все уровневые типы языковой игры с учетом признака лингвоэкологичности / нелингвоэкологичности оценочных высказываний педагога. Показано, что языковая игра является эффективным способом создания атмосферы творчества и сотрудничества на занятии. Определено, что среди приемов комического наиболее лингвоэкологичным является антифразис. Выявлено, что многие приемы языковой игры нарушают лингвоэкологичность речи, если вектор игры нацелен на дискредитацию обучающегося, высказывание проникнуто самоуничижением или содержит инвективы, «смягченные» приемом языковой игры.

Opis:: W artykule podjęto próbę opisu kilku mechanizmów stylistycznych odpowiadających za tworzenie gier językowych w wybranych utworach Juliana Tuwima, Stanisława Młodożeńca, Marii Cyranowicz, Tadeusza Różewicza i Ryszarda Krynickiego. Uwzględniono też zjawiska związane z naruszeniem tradycyjnych poetyckich wzorców w polskiej liryce XX wieku.
In the article an attempt is made to describe a few stylistic mechanisms responsible for creating language-games in selected poems by Julian Tuwim, Stanisław Młodożeniec, Maria Cyranowicz, Tadeusz Różewicz and Ryszard Krynicki. Also the phenomena are considered that are connected with infringing traditional poetic patterns in Polish lyric poetry of the 20th century.

Opis:: The article is devoted to the linguistic singularity of the novels The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes and Generation “P” by Viktor Pelevin. It deals with some linguistic means, which allow us to characterize these novels as a bright examples of postmodernism. Firstly, the idea about the impossibility of new style invention and the necessity of different styles combination. The novels is full of different jargon words, idioms and even scientific terms which are used all together creating unique style. It is important that in postmodernism literature good or bad words or styles do not exist; they are all equal. Secondly, the idea of game. There are two levels of representing this idea: the mix of styles and the loss of figurativeness by phraseological units. Moreover, the novels are full of references to other stories and poems and in this case, we can speak about “rewriting” as a common method of postmodernism. Postmodern writers create new work through the stealing of images and texts from an earlier period and appropriated in a present context, say scientists.

Opis:: The article considers the problem of proverb stability and modifications, and the difference between the terms modification and transformation. The author draws a conclusion that standard modifications within the national paremiological corpus can not be perceived as textual or occasional modifications. They should be taken as systemic variations within language norms that exist in the mind of native speakers, do not add another semantic meaning and are not recognized by native speakers as proverb deformations. Differences between proverbs (sayings of edifying character, which contain the centuries-old experience of the people) and anti-proverbs (the authors consider anti-proverbs to be the semantic antithesis of proverbs) are highlighted. The authors pay special attention to the study of the semantics of proverbs and their transformants to identify relevant semantic and cognitive characteristics. The productive transformation of classical proverbs convinces of the heredity of folk wisdom, the change in the deep meaning, and the formal plan of the original proverbs testifies to their adaptation to new social and historical conditions and values.
W artykule poddano analizie stałość oraz zmienność przysłów, rozróżniono pojęcia zmienności i transformacji. Normatywna uzualna zmienność nie jest tożsama z tekstową, okazjonalną zmiennością, lecz stanowi zmienność systemową, wypracowaną w procesie historycznego rozwoju zasobu paremijnego w świadomości mówiących i nie ma dodatkowego ładunku semantycznego, nie uświadamia się przez etnos jako wykroczenie, wykrzywienie tradycyjnego przysłowia. O produktywnej transformacji klasycznych paremii przekonuje dziedziczenie mądrości ludowej, a przekształcenie głębokich treści i cech formalnych takich przysłów świadczy o ich dostosowaniu do nowych społeczno-historycznych warunków i wartości. Resemantyzacja tradycyjnych przysłów jednoznacznie dowodzi ich istotności oraz aktualności, bo przecież jeżeli tradycyjna wypowiedź nie jest zmieniana, nie jest oceniana przez każde nowe pokolenie na swój sposób, staje się nieaktualna i nieistotna dla społeczeństwa. Antyprzysłowia częściowo burzą wypracowane przez stulecia stereotypy kosztem komicznego przepracowania ich semantyki.
