Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to use the hybridized optimization method in order to find mathematical structures for analysis of experimental data. The heuristic optimization method will be hybridized with deterministic optimization method in order to that structures found require not knowledge about data generated experimentally. Five case studies are proposed and discussed to validate the results. The proposed method has viable solution for the analysis of experimental data and extrapolation, with mathematical expression reduced.

Opis:
Purpose. To verify the relationship between stress indicators and the age and years of service of military firefighters from the fire rescue corps of the metropolitan area of the state of Sao Paulo. Methods. Forty military firefighters with the mean age of 37.9 ± 5.4 years, from the 1st, 2nd and 8th fire brigades of the metropolitan area of Sao Paulo participated in this study. All underwent clinical, physical and psychological evaluations to verify the relationship between the age and years of service with the variables of levels of stress (tension, depression, anger, vigor, fatigue, confusion and total stress) on workdays and on days off. Results. On workdays, the mean scores for tension, depression, fatigue and stress were overall higher compared to those on days off. The older the firefighter, the higher the levels of stress, depression, anger and total stress. The more years of service, the greater the depression and anger. Conclusions. The levels of stress were high on workdays. Chronological age and years of service influenced the increase in the scores of stress.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to reduce the necessary CPU time to solve the three-dimensional heat diffusion equation using Dirichlet boundary conditions. The finite difference method (FDM) is used to discretize the differential equations with a second-order accuracy central difference scheme (CDS). The algebraic equations systems are solved using the lexicographical and red-black Gauss-Seidel methods, associated with the geometric multigrid method with a correction scheme (CS) and V-cycle. Comparisons are made between two types of restriction: injection and full weighting. The used prolongation process is the trilinear interpolation. This work is concerned with the study of the influence of the smoothing value (v), number of mesh levels (L) and number of unknowns (N) on the CPU time, as well as the analysis of algorithm complexity.

Opis:
Root-knot nematodes, genus Meloidogyne, are among the most plant damaging pathogens worldwide. The action of natural products against plant pathogens has been investigated to assess their effectiveness in the control of diseases. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the phytochemistry potential of the Ficus species for the control of Meloidogyne javanica. In vitro inhibitory activity assays were performed with crude ethanolic extracts of leaves and branches from 10 Ficus species. Among these, Ficus carica extracts exhibited strong paralysis activity against second stage juveniles (J2) (EC50 = 134.90 μg ∙ ml–1 ), after 72 hours. In addition, high efficacy was observed in egg-hatching inhibition at different embryonic stages. Microscopy analysis revealed severe morphological alterations in the nematode tissues at the J2 stage, as well as immotility of juveniles released from eggs in the presence of F. carica extracts. The efficacy of the treatments for the other species was very low. These differences were supported by the variation in the compound classes, mainly for alkaloids and metabolite profiles by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) when F. carica was compared with the other species. The results indicated that F. carica is a promising source for the isolation and identification of molecules capable of acting in the control of M. javanica.
