DNA methyltransferases (Dnmts) are unique and perform specific functions during male germ cell development. To further characterize the significance of Dnmts in the events leading to production of spermatozoa, we investigated whether the expression patterns in Dnmt1, Dnmt3a, Dnmt3b and Dnmt3l were apparent in rat testes at different time points during development. The qRT-PCR results showed that expression levels of Dnmt3a and Dnmt3l were abundant before birth and were present at the highest levels in testes tissue at 18.5 days postcoitus (dpc), and gradually decreased from day 0 postpartum (dpp) to 90 dpp. Expression of Dnmt1 and Dnmt3b reached a peak after birth (P <0.01), and then gradually reduced until adulthood. Western blotting and immunolocalization analysis of Dnmt3a and Dnmt3b further confirmed the differential expression and localization of the two proteins during rat testis development. The dynamic expression profile of Dnmts implies specific and potentially nonredundant roles for each of these enzymes in the developing rat testis.

Opis:
Ship route planning is one of the key issues in enhancing traffic safety and efficiency. Many route planning methods have been developed, but most of them are based on the information from charts. This paper proposes a method to generate shipping routes based on historical ship tracks. The ship's historical route information was obtained by processing the AIS data. From which the ship turning point was extracted and clustered as nodes. The ant colony algorithm was used to generate the optimize route. The ship AIS data of the Three Gorges dam area was selected as a case study. The ships’ optimized route was generated, and further compared with the actual ship's navigation trajectory. The results indicate that there is space of improvement for some of the trajectories, especially near the turning areas.

Opis:
A “rock bridge”, defined as the closest distance between two joints in a rock mass, is an important feature affecting the jointed rock mass strength. Artificial jointed rock specimens with two parallel joint fractures were tested under uniaxial compression and numerical simulations were carried out to study the effects of the inclination of the rock bridge, the dip angle of the joint, rock bridge length, and the length of joints on the strength of the jointed rock mass. Research results show: (1) When the length of the joint fracture, the length of the rock bridge, and the inclination of the rock bridge stay unchanged, the uniaxial compressive strength of the specimen gradually increases as the inclination of the joint fracture increases from 0° to 90°. (2) When the length of the joint fracture, the length of the rock bridge, and the inclination of the joint fracture stay unchanged, the uniaxial compressive strength of the specimen shows variations in trends with the inclination of the rock bridge increasing from 30° to 150° (3). In the case when the joint is angled from the vertical loading direction, when the dip angle of the joint fracture, the inclination of the rock bridge, and the length of the rock bridge stay unchanged, the uniaxial compressive strength of the specimen gradually decreases with an increasing length of joint fracture. When the dip angle of the joint fracture, the inclination of the rock bridge, and the length of the joint fracture stay unchanged, the uniaxial compressive strength of the specimen does not show a clear trend with an increase of the length of the rock bridge.

Opis:
To accurately describe mechanical properties of a complex wire rope, a double-helix wire rope is used as an example in this study. According to the spatial structure characteristics of the central helical line of each wire rope, the spatial configuration curve for the double- -helix wire rope is obtained by using differential geometry theory. On the basis of this curve, the mathematical model of the equivalent elastic modulus of the wire rope is developed, and the elastic modulus of a 6×7+IWS wire rope is measured using a universal tensile testing machine. The experimental results are compared with the predicted results to verify correctness of the elastic modulus prediction of the double-helix wire rope.

Isothermal hot compression experiments were carried out using the Gleeble-1500D thermal mechanical simulator. The flow stress of the Cu-1%Zr and Cu-1%Zr-0.15%Y alloys was studied at hot deformation temperature of 550°C, 650°C, 750°C, 850°C, 900°C and the strain rate of 0.001 s-1, 0.01 s-1, 0.1 s-1, 1 s-1, 10 s-1. Hot deformation activation energy and constitutive equations for two kinds of alloys with and without yttrium addition were obtained by correlating the flow stress, strain rate and deformation temperature. The reasons for the change of hot deformation activation energy of the two alloys were analyzed. Dynamic recrystallization microstructure evolution for the two kinds of alloys during hot compression deformation was analyzed by optical and transmission electron microscopy. Cu-1%Zr and Cu-1%Zr-0.15%Y alloys exhibit similar behavior of hot compression deformation. Typical dynamic recovery occurs during the 550-750°C deformation temperature, while dynamic recrystallization (DRX) occurs during the 850-900°C deformation temperature. High Zr content and the addition of Y significantly improved Cu-1%Zr alloy hot deformation activation energy. Compared with hot deformation activation energy of pure copper, hot deformation activation energy of the Cu-1%Zr and Cu-1%Zr-0.15%Y alloys is increased by 54% and 81%, respectively. Compared with hot deformation activation energy of the Cu-1%Zr alloy, it increased by 18% with the addition of Y. The addition of yttrium refines grain, advances the dynamic recrystallization critical strain point and improves dynamic recrystallization.

This paper presents a virtual design process for a tight-fitting garment pattern for adapter consumer garments, aimed at consumers with scoliosis. The design process proposed is based on a virtual human model created using a 3D scanner, allowing simulation of the morphological shape of an individual with atypical physical deformations. Customized 2D and 3D virtual garment prototyping tools are used in combination to create products through interactions between the consumer, designer and pattern maker. After following an interactive sequence: Scanning – Design – Display – Evaluation – Adjustment, a final design solution acceptable to both the designer and consumer can be obtained. Through this process, traditional 2D garment design knowledge, especially design rules influenced by the fabric information, is fully utilized to support the design process proposed. Using the knowledge based collaborative design process, design satisfaction can be largely improved.
W artykule przedstawiono wirtualny proces projektowania wzoru odzieży dla osób ze skoliozą. Zaproponowany projekt jest oparty na wirtualnym modelu ciała człowieka stworzonym przy użyciu skanera 3D, umożliwiającego symulację morfologicznego kształtu ciała osoby o nietypowych deformacjach fizycznych. Po wykonaniu sekwencji interaktywnej: skanowanie – projekt – wyświetlacz – ocena – dostosowanie, można uzyskać ostateczne rozwiązanie projektowe akceptowalne zarówno dla projektanta, jak i dla konsumentów. W tym procesie tradycyjna wiedza z zakresu zasad projektowania odzieży 2D jest w pełni wykorzystywana w celu wspierania zaproponowanego procesu projektowania. Korzystając z kombinacji obu systemów 2D i 3D można w znacznym stopniu poprawić jakość otrzymanego projektu. Udane rozwiązania projektowe można zintegrować z bazą wiedzy o projektowaniu mody, aby tworzyć nowe zasady projektowania i rozszerzać profesjonalną wiedzę dotyczącą projektowania.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of exogenous selenium (Se) supply (0, 2, 4, 8, 16 μM) on the growth, lipid peroxidation and antioxidative enzyme activity of 100 mM NaCl-stressed melon (Cucumis melo L.) seedlings. Salt stress significantly reduced the growth attributes including stem length, stem diameter, dry weight and increased antioxidative enzyme activity [superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT)]. Moreover, the plant exhibited a significant increase in electrolyte leakage and malondialdehyde (MDA) content under NaCl stress. Se supplementation not only improved the growth parameters but also successfully ameliorated the adverse effect caused by salt stress in melon seedlings. However, the mitigation of NaCl-stressed seedlings was different depending on the Se concentration. At lower concentrations (2–8 μM), Se improved growth and acted as antioxidant by inhibiting lipid peroxidation and increasing in SOD and POD enzymes activity under salt stress. At higher concentrations (16 μM), Se exerted diminished beneficial effects on growth. Whereas CAT activity was enhanced. The result indicated that Se supplementation had a positive physiological effect on the growth and development of salt-stressed melon seedlings.

The multi-direction digital moving mask method, employing the superposition of the exposure along various moving directions, is developed for fabricating continuous microstructures. The mask pattern corresponding to each moving direction is determined by projecting the target dose profile in the corresponding moving direction. All the mask patterns are dynamically exposed on the same substrate layer by layer so as to form a 3D profile of the exposure dose. The selection criterion of a quantization number and moving-direction number is discussed. For verification of the multi-direction moving method, experiments are performed to fabricate a square pyramid array and square-based microlens array by moving along two orthogonal directions, and round-based microlens array by moving along six directions.

In this paper, the reasons why nanometer RDX showed lower sensitivity than micro RDX is discussed. Herein we supposed two factors affect the sensitivity of nanometer RDX. Firstly, according detonation physics models, a nanometer particle size results in small hot spots and a high critical temperature. These features suggested high safety for nanometer RDX based on the hot spot theory. A further factor is the thermal reactivity of nanometer RDX, which considerably affects the safety of nanometer energetic materials. Employing the Kinetic Compensation Effect, we calculated the kinetic parameters of micro and nanometer RDX. The results indicated that there was no obvious distinction between the activation energies of micro and nanometer RDX, which implies almost the same reactivity of micro and nanometer RDX. Incorporating the results of small hot spots, high critical temperature, and the unchanged reactivity of micro and nanometer RDX, we concluded that nanometer RDX should exhibit low sensitivity as an intrinsic feature.

In the vertical spindle pulverizer (VSP), the large circulation ratio and high ash and sulfur contents in circulating load would result in intensive energy consumption and low grinding efficiency. Although the control of circulating load would help increase the energy efficiency, no quantitative study has been conducted due to the high temperature and pressure in the closed VSP. In this study, response of energy-size reduction to the control of circulating load was studied by the experimental simulation method. Coal mixtures with fine/coarse ratio of 11:1, 8:1 and 6:1 were ground by a lab-scale roller mill. Energy-size reductions of the coarse coal were compared to evaluate the influence of circulating load control. Results showed that the product with the coarse coal increased by 30% when the specific breakage energy was 1.0 kWht–1 as the circulation ratio decreased from 11 to 6. Meanwhile, a breakage characteristic index of the coarse coal was two times higher due to the cushioning effect of fines. Besides, decrease of circulation ratio led to increase of the breakage rate of coarse coal, and the energy saving improved by 57%. With the same energy input of 2.0 kWht-1, the yield of –0.09 mm pulverized fuel (PF) increased from 22 to 43%. Therefore, controlling the circulating load is an effective method to improve the breakage rate of coarse coal and energy efficiency for PF generation.

Production parameters have been established to play a fundamental role in dictating the physical characteristics and sensing properties of knitted sensors. This research studied the influence of elastic yarn type and rib fabric structure variation on the physical, tensile and conductive properties and sensitivity performance of knitted underwear strain sensors to be used for breathing mensuration. Four different structures in 1×1, 1×2, 1×3 and 2×2 mock ribs were knitted using covered elastic (CY) and bare strand elastic yarn (BS) combinations. These two parameters proffered unique physical, conductive and tensile characteristics to the samples. Wear and machine tests were conducted to ascertain the sensor’s piezoresistive responses. The machine test showed a higher piezoresistive response, with an average peak value (APV) from 1.70 Ω to 0.24 Ω, while those for the wear test recorded were around 0.0110 Ω to 1.867 Ω for all sample categories. However, sensors knitted with covered elastic yarns produced the best breathing test results (APV of 1.089 Ω – 1.86 Ω) compared to bare strand elastic yarns (APV 0.0027 Ω – 0.0790 Ω) when used in a wearable environment. Fabric structure variation had influences on both conductive and tensile characteristics; however, the effects on the piezoresistive response were negligible. The influences of the unique characteristics provided by these core parameters on sensor resistance values, piezoresistance, aging, ease of deformation and dimensional stability have also been discussed.
W pracy badano wpływ struktury dzianiny i rodzaju przędzy na właściwości fizyczne, rozciągające i przewodzące oraz czułość dzianinowych czujników umieszczonych w wyrobach bieliźnianych. Czujniki mają znaleźć zastosowanie w pomiarach napięcia oddechowego. Badaniom poddano cztery różne dzianiny: 1 × 1, 1 × 2, 1 × 3 i 2 × 2, w procesie dziania wykorzystano kombinacje przędz elastycznych powlekanych (CY) i niepowlekanych (BS). Dało to unikalne właściwości fizyczne, przewodzące i rozciągające próbki. W celu ustalenia reakcji piezorezystywnych czujnika przeprowadzono dwa rodzaje testów. Test maszynowy wykazał wyższą reakcję piezorezystywną, ze średnią wartością szczytową (APV) od 1,70 Ω do 0,24 Ω, podczas gdy dla testu zużycia zarejestrowano około 0,0110 Ω do 1,867 Ω dla wszystkich kategorii próbek. Jednakże, czujniki dzianinowe z powleczonymi przędzami elastycznymi dały najlepsze wyniki testu oddychania (APV o wartości 1.089 Ω – 1.86 Ω) w porównaniu do niepowleczonych przędz elastycznych (APV 0,0027 Ω – 0,0790 Ω), podczas stosowania ich w środowisku noszenia. Zmiana struktury dzianiny miała wpływ na właściwości przewodzące i rozciągające, jednak wpływ na reakcję piezorezystywną był znikomy. Omówiono również wpływ unikalnych cech tych podstawowych parametrów na wartości rezystancji czujnika, odporność na piezorezystencję, starzenie, łatwość deformacji i stabilność wymiarową.

Opis:
Twinned dendrites in Al-Zn alloy with high Zn content (40% wt.%) were successfully prepared by directional solidification. At different directional solidification rates (1000 and 1500 μm/s), microstructures and growth orientation variations of Al twinned dendrite and non-twinned dendrite were characterized. By using the inverted trapezoidal graphite sleeve at 1000 μm/s, Al twinned dendrite were formed to developed feather crystal structures in longitudinal section. Its primary and secondary twinned dendrite were grew along [110] direction. Moreover the deviation angle between [110] direction of Al twinned dendrite and the heat flow direction was about 27.15°. While not using the inverted trapezoidal graphite sleeve at 1000 and 1500 μm/s, Al dendrite was the non-twinned dendrite and the twinned dendrite was not appeared. The experimental results showed that the higher temperature gradient, a certain pulling rate and convection environment were the formation conditions of twinned dendrites.
