    The tragic years of World War II, followed by the unfriendly communist policy in Poland towards the Jewish community, changed the country from a multicultural into the most homogeneous state in the European Union nowadays. At the same time, Israel, as a meeting place for various cultures, enjoys the influence of inhabitants from nearly all over the world. The dissimilar experiences and problems faced by the governing bodies should influence different approaches to dual citizenship in Poland and Israel. In view of the above, in the presented work the author would like to analyze the issue of the legal approach to dual citizenship both in Poland and in Israel. The main goal of the paper, beyond comparison of the effectiveness of the legislation, is finding the answer to the question: what is the state’s attitude towards the issue of the dual citizenship of their citizens? The hypothesis that the article will verify states, that due to the small number of people with dual citizenship in Poland, Polish legislation devoted to this topic is not extensive and has dissimilarities to the law in Israel, which, in contrast, is more complex and better response to the needs of society. The reason for comparing Poland and Israel is the fact that Polish citizenship has been very popular among the citizens of the Jewish state, especially since 2004 when Poland became a member of the European Union. This issue, in the long run, may be one of the key determinants of Polish-Israeli and Polish-Jewish relations.

    Israel is one of those countries which received the highest number of immigrants after World War II. Since the establishment of the state in 1948 until 2002, about 3 million immigrants came to Israel. In addition, most of the 6.7 million Jews living in Israel are descendants of refugees who escaped the war and persecution. Even today, according to the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees, there are about 34,000 refugees and asylum seekers in Israel, mainly from Eritrea and Sudan, who came to Israel more than ten years ago and have no Jewish roots. As a result of its migration policy, Israel, additionally adducing the right of asylum, is reluctant to grant them a refugee status. The purpose of the article is to analyze the assumptions of Israel's migration policy and to try to answer the research question how the policy’s main aspects differ from those from 80 years ago when the state was created or if there are still many similarities.
    Izrael jest jednym z krajów, który przyjął najwięcej imigrantów po II wojnie światowej. Od powstania państwa w 1948 roku do 2002 roku do Izraela przyjechało około 3 mln imigrantów. Dodatkowo większość z 6,7 mln Żydów mieszkających w Izraelu to potomkowie uchodźców, którzy uciekli przed wojną oraz prześladowaniami. Nawet obecnie według Biura Wysokiego Komisarza ds. Uchodźców przebywa w Izraelu około 34 tys. uchodźców i osób ubiegających się̨ o azyl, głównie z Erytrei i Sudanu, którzy przybyli do tego kraju ponad dziesięć́ lat temu i nie mają żadnych korzeni żydowskich. W efekcie prowadzonej polityki migracyjnej Izrael, powołujący się̨ dodatkowo na prawo azylu, niechętnie nadaje im status uchodzący. Celem artykułu jest analiza założeń́ polityki migracyjnej Izraela oraz próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy i w jaki sposób jej główne aspekty różnią się od tych z czasu, gdy powstawało ponad 80 lat temu państwo izraelskie.

    Between 2009 and 2015, three early parliamentary elections have been held in Israel, which have led Likud party with Binjamin Netanyahu as the leader to the power. The role of this article is to analyse the election campaigns in these years, paying particular attention to the context of relations with the European Union. The work aims to answer the research question, what were the main issues raised by public opinion during the elections in 2009, 2013 and in 2015, and whether European subjects were important for Israeli politicians and their voters. The work used a behavioural method combined with the descriptive and analytical method, which was conducted primarily through the use of press releases and the Internet’s most important Israeli newspapers.
