The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the $BaO-Tb_2 O_{3+δ}-CuO$ system at 1173 K was constructed based on X-ray powder diffraction data. The existence of the compounds BaTbO₃ (SrZrO₃ structure type, I4/mcm, a = 0.6034(1), c = 0.8576(1) nm) and Ba₄₄Cu₄₅O₉₀ (own structure type, Im-3m, a =1.8266(3) nm) was confirmed in the binary BaO-Tb₂O₃ and BaO-CuO systems, respectively, but no ternary oxides were found. The investigation of samples with nominal composition $A_{0.5}Tb_{0.5}TO_3$ (A = Ca, Sr or Ba, T = Ni or Zn) showed the presence of phases from the corresponding binary systems, or unreacted reagents.

Opis:
The crystal structure of the $(Bi_{0.02}Sr_{0.39}Ca_{0.59})_{10}Cu_{17}O_{29}$ spin-ladder compound was determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. The precursor powder was prepared from stoichiometric amounts of $SrCO_{3},$ $CaCO_{3},$ $CuO,$ and $Bi_{2}O_{3}$ by calcination at 820°C for 20 h and pressed to form a rod used for the crystal growth. The travelling-solvent-floating-zone method was applied in an image furnace to grow large single crystals. The composite commensurate structure was solved and refined in space group F222, Pearson symbol oF224, a = 11.340(2), b = 12.829(2), c = 19.441(3) Å, Z = 4. The composite incommensurate structure of the $(Bi_{0.02}Sr_{0.39}Ca_{0.59})_{10}Cu_{17}O_{29}$ compound was solved and refined in the (3+1)-space group F222 (00γ), a = 11.340(2), b = 12.829(2), c_1 = 2.7773(4), c_2 = 3.8882(6) Å, q = 0.7143.

Opis:
After developing a Resonance Chiral Lagrangian (R χ L) model to describe hadronic τ lepton decays, the model was confronted with experimental data. This was accomplished by using a fitting framework that was developed to take into account the complexity of the model and to ensure numerical stability for the algorithms used in the fitting. Since the model used in the fit contained 15 parameters and there were only three one-dimensional distributions available, we could expect multiple local minima or even whole regions of equal potential to appear. Our methods had to thoroughly explore the whole parameter space and ensure (as well as possible) that the result is a global minimum. This paper is focused on the technical aspects of the fitting strategy used. The first approach was based on a re-weighting algorithm published in article Shekhovtsova et al. and produced results in about two weeks. A later approach, with an improved theoretical model and a simple parallelization algorithm based on Inter-Process Communication (IPC) methods of UNIX system, reduced computation time down to 2–3 days. Additional approximations were introduced to the model, decreasing the necessary time to obtain the preliminary results down to 8 hours. This allowed us to better validate the results, leading to a more robust analysis published in article Nugent et al.

Opis:
Diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescent patients may be problematic, because of the broad spectrum of symptoms. Population research display heritable character. The function of dopaminergic, adrenergic, and serotoninergic systems is disordered in different ways in patients, who suffer from this disease. Purpose: The aim of this article is to show the actual view on the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in teenage patients.. Results: In the treatment of ADHD the most important thing is pedagogical therapy as well as cooperation of parents and medical crew. In some particular cases pharmacologic treatment should also be included in therapeutic process, which is described in this review. Methylphenidate is the most frequent drug used in the treatment and that is why we focused on the complex description of the substance. Conclusions: Teachers and the school responsible for teaching these children must adapt didactic methods to the severity of the disorder. It is valuable to conduct the drug in the therapy of teenagers whose parents ready to cooperate, always with psychiatric supervision. In the process of pharmacotherapy, it is crucial to include breaks, for example during vacations. Psychostimulants are highly addictive substances, which is why many researchers are uncertain about the routine prescription of methylphenidate.
