Opis:
This paper presents a new approach to sensor placement based on diagnosability criteria. It is based on the study of structural matrices. Properties of structural matrices regarding detectability, discriminability and diagnosability are established in order to be used by sensor placement methods. The proposed approach manages any number of constraints modelled by linear or nonlinear equations and it does not require the design of analytical redundancy relations. Assuming that a constraint models a component and that the cost of the measurement of each variable is defined, a method determining sensor placements satisfying diagnosability specifications, where all the diagnosable, discriminable and detectable constraint sets are specified, is proposed. An application example dealing with a dynamical linear system is presented.

Opis:
In complex industrial plants, there are usually many sensors and the modeling of plants leads to lots of mathematical relations. This paper presents a general method for finding all the possible testable subsystems, i.e., sets of relations that can lead to various types of detection tests. This method, which is based on structural analysis, provides the constraints that have to be used for the design of each detection test and manages situations where constraints contain non-deductible variables and where some constraints cannot be gathered in the same test. Thanks to these results, it becomes possible to select the most interesting testable subsystems regarding detectability and diagnosability criteria. Application examples dealing with a road network, a digital counter and an electronic circuit are presented.

Opis:
We prove that if a sequence (fn)n of D.C. functions (Difference of two Convex functions) converges to a D.C. function f in some appropriate way and if un is a critical point of fn, in the sense described by Toland, and is such that (un)n converges to u, then a is a critical point of f, still in Toland's sense. We also build a new algorithm which searches for this critical point u and then apply it in order to compute the solution of a semilinear elliptic equation.

Opis:
99mTc-HIG can be used for early detection of inflammation and infection foci especially in immunodeficiency patients. The present study involves in-house preparation and evaluation of human immunoglobulin-hydrazinonicotinic acid (HIG-HYNIC) kit to be labeled with 99mTc. In this indirect labeling method, the structure and biological activity of the protein can be maintained. The kit consists of two vials A and B, the vial A contains 2 mg of HIG-HYNIC, and the vial B contains 10 mg of tricine and 1 mg of stannous chloride dihydrate (SnCl2.2H2O). The results revealed that the lyophilized kits were stable for at least 10 months, and showed a high quality from the points of physical, chemical, radiochemical and biological purities, and its validity for human injection. The labeling yield of HIG-HYNIC compound exceeded 98%. The application of the prepared kit was experimentally illustrated in animal models with artificially induced inflammatory lesions after E. coli injection into rat leg muscle. The biodistribution and imaging studies in rats have shown good localization in infected muscle (T) in comparison to the normal muscle (M) 4 and 24 h after injection. Ratios of 17 and 18 were achieved 4 and 24 h post injection, respectively. The results of biodistribution of 99mTc-HIG in human and initial clinical evaluation show that this agent is a good radiopharmaceutical for infection imaging.

Opis:
The computation of eigenvalues of a matrix is still of importance from both theoretical and practical points of view. This is a significant problem for numerous industrial and scientific situations, notably in dynamics of structures (e.g. Gerardin, 1984), physics (e.g. Rappaz, 1979), chemistry (e.g. Davidson, 1983), economy (e.g. Morishima, 1971; Neumann, 1946), mathematics (e.g. Golub, 1989; Chatelin, 1983, 1984, 1988). The study of eigenvalue problems remains a delicate task, which generally presents numerical difficulties in relation to its sensivity to roundoff errors that may lead to numerical unstabilities, particularly if the eigenvalues are not well separated. In this paper, new subgradient-algorithms for computation of extreme eigenvalues of a symmetric real matrix are presented. Those algorithms are based on stability of Lagrangian duality for non-convex optimization and on duality in the difference of convex functions. Some experimental results which prove the robustness and efficiency of our algorithms are provided.
