Opis:
This paper is concerned with the fusion of information from process data and process connectivity and its subsequent use in fault diagnosis and process hazard assessment. The Signed Directed Graph (SDG), as a graphical model for capturing process topology and connectivity to show the causal relationships between process variables by material and information paths, has been widely used in root cause and hazard propagation analysis. An SDG is usually built based on process knowledge as described by piping and instrumentation diagrams. This is a complex and experience-dependent task, and therefore the resulting SDG should be validated by process data before being used for analysis. This paper introduces two validation methods. One is based on cross-correlation analysis of process data with assumed time delays, while the other is based on transfer entropy, where the correlation coefficient between two variables or the information transfer from one variable to another can be computed to validate the corresponding paths in SDGs. In addition to this, the relationship captured by data-based methods should also be validated by process knowledge to confirm its causality. This knowledge can be realized by checking the reachability or the influence of one variable on another based on the corresponding SDG which is the basis of causality. A case study of an industrial process is presented to illustrate the application of the proposed methods.

Opis:
We report the synthesis of PbF2:Er3+ particles using a hydrothermal method. The structure and upconversion emission properties of the products are investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, Raman spectrophotometer and fluorescence spectrometry. An increase in Er3+ concentration in the crystals changes the PbF2 structure from a mixed phase to a cubic phase and decreases the grain size to nanoscale levels. Enhanced upconversion efficiency is achieved after annealing resulted from the formation of the cubic phase and the increase of grain size. The optimal Er3+ concentration is found to be 4% after annealing, and applied to the back of a bifacial silicon solar cell, maximum external quantum efficiencies of 0.38% and 0.79% are respectively obtained under 0.77 W/cm2 laser excitation (1560 nm) and AM1.5 + laser co-excitation.

This paper studies the methods and guidelines in minimum sample size determination provided by JEDEC/ FSA joint publication and points out their drawbacks, inconsistency, and misguidance. We provide an exact method and easy-to-use numerical solution by extending JEDEC's formula to any allowed failure number, target defect density, and confi dence level. Important guidelines are also provided for reliability practitioners to reduce possible errors resulting from imperfect sampling procedures and to avoid mistakes in defect density evaluation against a target defect density (D0). Our proposed method can be applied to any reliability tests with the binomial distribution to determine a minimum sample size to save wafers and testing resources.

Opis:
Chinese fir [Cunninghamia lanceolata (Lamb.) Hook] is a fast-growing tree species that is widely planted for timber production in southern China. Many high-quality breeding systems for Chinese fir have been developed using genetic methods. Here, we systematically review progress in increasing Chinese fir timber volumes per unit forest area in China, using genetic methods. We comprehensively assess the objec- tives, strategies, and primary accomplishments of the first to fourth generations of a Chinese fir breeding program. Furthermore, we propose a genetic improvement program and protocol for Chinese fir, and out- line several recommendations with respect to the main challenges associated with using genetic methods to increase timber yields. Finally, we present a series of proposals to increase Chinese fir timber production in China. This review offers insight into genetic improvements that have increased timber volumes of Chi- nese fir over four generations of breeding, and provides direction for future genetic improvements to wood properties.

Opis:
Chlorocresol nanoemulsion disinfectant (CND) is an environmental disinfectant prepared with nanoemulsion as its drug carrier. This study aimed to investigate the bactericidal effect of CND on Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus) and its effect on bacterial ultrastructure. The neutralizing effect of CND against S. aureus was first screened by suspension quantitative evaluation experiment procedure of neutralizer. Disinfection performance was evaluated by the determination of Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC), quantitative bactericidal experiment, and comparative experiment of disinfection performance between 0.1% CND and 0.1% chlorocresol aqueous solution. Meanwhile, the effect of CND on the ultrastructure of S. aureus was investigated with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) to preliminarily explore the bactericidal mechanism. The results showed that 3% Tween-80 in PBS could be screened as the neutralizer of CND against S. aureus. MIC and MBC were 100 μg/mL and 200 μg/mL, respectively. The bactericidal rates were all 100% when 0.06% and 0.08% disinfectant acted for 15 and 5 min, respectively. Furthermore, compared with 0.1% chlorocresol aqueous solution, the bactericidal effect of 0.1% CND was significantly enhanced (p<0.01). After treatment with CND for 10 min, SEM observation showed that the morphology of S. aureus cells were changed and the integrity destroyed. TEM observation showed that the cell shape changed, and the structures of the cell wall, cell membrane and cytoplasm were damaged in varying degrees. CND showed the strong bactericidal effect on S. aureus and could cause ultrastructure alterations of S. aureus.

Opis:
A proof of concept for using paper test as a suitable method in the production of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) is reported. The paper test which detects antibodies against porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) using colloidal gold-labelled capsid protein as the antigen probe was applied exclusively in the screening of anti-PCV2 MAbs. It allowed the detection of 118 single cell clones within 30 min using naked eyes. MAbs with specific binding to authentic epitopes on the virus were selected using a blocking strategy in which the antibody was pre-incubated with PCV2 viral sample before applying to the test paper. Five hybridomas secreting MAbs against the capsid protein were obtained, with only three of them capable of binding to PCV2. The results were validated and confirmed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunofluorescence assay. The paper test is simple, rapid, and independent on professional technicians and proves to be an excellent approach for the screening of MAbs against specific targets.

Opis:
Due to the high exploration cost, limited number of wells for source rocks drilling and scarce test samples for the Total Organic Carbon Content (TOC) in the Huizhou sag, the TOC prediction of source rocks in this area and the assessment of resource potentials of the basin are faced with great challenges. In the study of TOC prediction, predecessors usually adopted the logging assessment method, since the data is only confined to a “point” and the regional prediction of the source bed in the seismic profile largely depends on the recognition of seismic facies, making it difficult to quantify TOC. In this study, we combined source rock geological characteristics, logging and seismic response and built the mathematical relation between quasi TOC curve and seismic data based on the TOC logging date of a single well and its internal seismic attribute. The result suggested that it was not purely a linear relationship that was adhered to by predecessors, but was shown as a complicated non-linear relationship. Therefore, the neural network algorithm and SVMs were introduced to obtain the optimum relationship between the quasi TOC curve and the seismic attribute. Then the goal of TOC prediction can be realized with the method of seismic inversion.
