Opis:
After triticale, Tritordeum is the second cereal obtained by means of hybridization. As a new type of cereal, it can be introduced in the long term into cultivation in Polish conditions after conducting scientific research. However, it is necessary to identify its requirements regarding climate, soil conditions as well as agricultural engineering. Since this cereal has a high nutritional value, it may be successfully used in the production of food products with increased nutritional value. At the same time, the grains have a good fodder value, therefore they can also be used for the production of feed for livestock. In this work, a description of Tritordeum and an assessment of the cultivation potential of this crop in Poland are undertaken, with considerations for its nutritional and fodder value, based on the scientific literature.

Opis:
There are not many results of studies concerning the effect of autumn sowing date on the yield of spring cereal cultivars. Due to the fact that meteorological conditions in winter have become milder, the sowing of spring varieties with increased frost resistance is possible in autumn. Spring varieties suitable for autumn sowing are known as alternative varieties. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of autumn sowing date on the productivity of selected spring varieties. A two-factor field experiment was established using a split-plot design at the Experimental Station of Cultivar Testing in Czesławice (51°30′N 22°24′E), the Lubelskie voivodeship, Poland (2008/2009, 2009/2010, 2010/2011). Experimental factors were as follows: A) sowing date: I – October, II – November, III – spring, B) spring wheat cultivar: Tybalt, Cytra, Bombona, Monsun, Parabola. In the first year of the study, no effect of sowing date on spring wheat yields was found. In subsequent growing seasons, both autumn sowing dates had a positive effect on the yields of the tested spring wheat varieties. The selection of the cultivar did not affect the obtained yields.

Opis:
Durum wheat grains are in demand on the international market because they exhibit exceptional quality traits, which make them suitable for use in the pasta industry. Most Polish pasta producers import the necessary raw material from other countries (e.g. Italy). However, it is also possible to grow durum wheat under the conditions of Poland, as cultivars that can be successfully cultivated under these climatic conditions, as well as those that can overwinter successfully, have already been grown. When compared with the common wheat, durum wheat performs much better in terms of yellow pigments, gluten, glassiness and grain hardness. Under Poland’s conditions, it yields lower than common wheat, but the grain reaches a higher price. It should be stated that durum wheat is an important cereal, whose grain is used mainly for pasta and semolina production. The aim of this study is to characterise the method cultivation, cultivation possibilities, and usage of durum wheat grains.

Opis:
This paper presents an overview of the literature research on the benefits of biocarbon (biochar) as an important part of sustainable agriculture and carbon farming. The main objective was to familiarise the reader with the literature findings on the effects of biocarbon application on the environment, soil, soil organic mater, soil microorganisms, and impact on crop yields. On the basis of the research presented, it can be concluded that the incorporation of biocarbon into the soil generally has a positive effect on soil fertility, but that proper application is required (mainly its application together with fertilization). The quality, properties, and agricultural usefulness of the biochar depend on the raw material that has been subjected to the pyrolysis process, as well as the temperature and time of. The findings of the paper are based on the literature review on the subject.
