Opis:
This is a survey paper on additive combinations of certain special-type operators on a Hilbert space. We consider (finite) linear combinations, sums, convex combinations and/or averages of operators from the classes of diagonal operators, unitary operators, isometries, projections, symmetries, idempotents, square-zero operators, nilpotent operators, quasinilpotent operators, involutions, commutators, self-commutators, norm-attaining operators, numerical-radius-attaining operators, irreducible operators and cyclic operators. In each case, we are mainly concerned with the characterization of such combinations and the minimal number of the special operators required in them. We will omit the proofs of most of the results here but give some indication or brief sketch of the ideas behind and point out the remaining open problems.

In order to effectively promote the construction of the Yangtze River economic belt, it has become China’s national strategy to vigorously develop the river-sea-going transportation. In the present paper, theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and model test are combined together to develop flat-type river-sea-going ship which is characterized with larger loading capacity, lower fuel consumption, better performance on energy-saving and environmental-friendly, excellent economy and higher transportation efficiency. Key technologies on hydrodynamic performance, structural safety, energy-saving technology and green ship technology are investigated to develop the river-sea-going ship. The developed “4E” level ship has great significance to the implementation of national strategic deployment.

The external loads and structural ultimate strength are two important aspects for the safety of ship hull girder. It may collapse in case the structural capacity is less than the external forces in extreme seas. In the present research, progressive collapse test is performed to investigate the collapse mechanism of ship structure in waves. External load with time history and corresponding structural collapse behavior are measured and discussed to demonstrate the interaction of fluid and structures.

Opis:
A moving average (MA) is a commonly used noise reduction method in signal processing. Several studies on wheeze auscultation have used MA analysis for preprocessing. The present study compared the performance of MA analysis with that of differential operation (DO) by observing the produced spectrograms. These signal preprocessing methods are not only applicable to wheeze signals but also to signals produced by systems such as machines, cars, and flows. Accordingly, this comparison is relevant in various fields. The results revealed that DO increased the signal power intensity of episodes in the spectrograms by more than 10 dB in terms of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A mathematical analysis of relevant equations demonstrated that DO could identify high-frequency episodes in an input signal. Compared with a two-dimensional Laplacian operation, the DO method is easier to implement and could be used in other studies on acoustic signal processing. DO achieved high performance not only in denoising but also in enhancing wheeze signal features. The spectrograms revealed episodes at the fourth or even fifth harmonics; thus, DO can identify high-frequency episodes. In conclusion, MA reduces noise and DO enhances episodes in the high-frequency range; combining these methods enables efficient signal preprocessing for spectrograms.

Opis:
Vibrio vulnificus is a virulent human pathogen causing gastroenteritis and possibly life threatening septicemia in patients. Most V. vulnificus are catalase positive and can deactivate peroxides, thus allowing them to survive within the host. In the study presented here, a catalase from V. vulnificus (CAT-Vv) was purified to homogeneity after expression in Escherichia coli. The kinetics and function of CAT-Vv were examined. CAT-Vv catalyzed the reduction of H2O2 at an optimal pH of 7.5 and temperature of 35°C. The Vmax and Km values were 65.8±1.2 U/mg and 10.5±0.7 mM for H2O2, respectively. Mutational analysis suggests that amino acids involved in heme binding play a key role in the catalysis. Quantitative reverse transcription-PCR revealed that in V. vulnificus, transcription of CAT-Vv was upregulated by low salinity, heat, and oxidative stresses. This research gives new clues to help inhibit the growth of, and infection by V. vulnificus.

Opis:
Abstract: The polymorphic transition of 2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazatetracyclo[5.5.0.05,9.03,11]dodecane (CL-20) is influenced by the materials and conditions used in the preparation of propellants, and limits the application of ε-CL-20 in solid propellants. In the present work, the effect of dinitroxydiethylnitramine (DINA) on the polymorphic transition of ε-CL-20 in CMDB propellants was investigated by Raman spectroscopy and the Calvet microcalorimeter method. The performance of propellants with CL-20 as affected by DINA was studied by the theoretical prediction of their energetic parameters, stability, combustion, and mechanical tests, respectively. The results showed that the polymorphic transition temperature of ε-CL-20 to α-CL-20 can be reduced to 75 °C by DINA. Expansion of the crystal volume during the process of the ε-CL-20 to α-CL-20 transition will produce obvious cracks in the surface of the crystals. NC/NG can inhibit the effect of DINA on the polymorphic transition of ε-CL-20. The theoretically predicted results indicated that adding DINA will not lower the energy level of CMDB propellants containing CL-20. The DSC and VST results showed that CL-20 has good compatibility and thermal stability with DINA. The burning rate tests revealed that adding DINA decreases the burning rates of CMDB propellants containing CL-20. Mechanical property testing showed that adding DINA can clearly improve the mechanical properties of CMDB propellants containing CL-20. The results of these investigations suggested that DINA has no effect on the crystalline stability of ε-CL-20 in the solventless extrusion process, which contributes to a significant understanding of practical applications and provides guidance for applied research on the use of CL-20 in propellants.

lignocellulosic ethanol production
Opis:
Ionic liquid (IL) pretreatment of lignocellulosic materials has provided a new technical tool to improve lignocellulosic ethanol production. To evaluate the influence of the residual IL in the fermentable sugars from enzymatic hydrolysis of IL pretreatment of lignocellulosic materials on the subsequent ethanol fermentation, the toxicity of the IL 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([BMIM]Cl) to Saccharomyces cerevisiae AY93161 was investigated. Firstly, the morphological structure, budding and metabolic activity of Saccharomyces cerevisiae AY93161 at different [BMIM]Cl concentrations were observed under an optical microscope. The results show that its single cell morphology remained unchanged at all [BMIM]Cl concentrations, but its reproduction rate by budding and its metabolic activity decreased with the [BMIM]Cl concentration increasing. The half effective concentration (EC50) and the half inhibition concentration (IC50) of [BMIM]Cl to Saccharomyces cerevisiae AY93161 were then measured using solid and liquid suspension culture and their value were 0.53 and 0.39 g.L-1 respectively. Finally, the influence of [BMIM]Cl on ethanol production was investigated. The results indicate that the [BMIM]Cl inhibited the growth and ethanol production of Saccharomyces cerevisiae AY93161. This toxicity study provides useful basic data for further development in lignocellulosic ethanol production by using IL technology and it also enriches the IL toxicity data.
