Current research explored the link between beliefs about the mind, the soul, and the moral status (MS) of humanoid robot (HR). Determining the conditions for the assignment of MS to artificially intelligent agents is important from the point of view of their inclusion in the moral community. The indication of the role of beliefs about the mind and the soul is consistent with the tendency to distinguish these two incorporeal entities observed in folk psychology. In an online study, participants (N = 223), who believed in the existence of the mind and the soul, assessed the MS of the HR Sophia and assigned attributes to it; based on this, two dimensions of the mind perception (MP) were distinguished: Experience and Agency. As expected, we found that the participants attributed the mind more than the soul to the robot, and these projections significantly affected the MS of the robot. Path analysis revealed that the dimensions of MP acted as a mediator in the mind-MS relationship, while the soul-MS relationship was direct. The analysis of the obtained results leads to a more general conclusion that the soul attribution is a diverse and parallel condition to the mind attribution in individuals.

Współczesna dyskusja nad wyodrębnieniem nowej jednostki stratygraficznej w geologii, nazwanej antropocenem, która rejestruje geologiczne zmiany o charakterze antropogenicznym, stanowi kontekst dla nowej konceptualizacji podstawowych kategorii opisujących i wyjaśniających stan kryzysu relacji człowiek–przyroda. W artykule podjęto próbę retrospektywnej rekonstrukcji pojęcia natury w dwóch wymiarach: doświadczenia różnych aspektów natury w dobie kryzysu ekologicznego oraz filozoficznych interpretacji tego doświadczenia. Elementem wspólnym tego doświadczenia egzystencjalnego oraz naukowego jest rewizja wyobrażeń o przyrodzie, ukształtowanych przez naukę i technikę. Reakcja na odkrycie ograniczeń bywa jednak zróżnicowana: od radykalnych programów naprawczych w sferze teorii i praktyki po reformistyczne postulaty korektur aktualnych trendów cywilizacyjnych. W interpretacji filozoficznej odkrywa się dwa kluczowe aspekty. Po pierwsze, pojęcie natury jest kształtowane w kontekście naukowo‑technicznym w wymiarze historycznym (rewolucja naukowa, kolejne etapy przemian techniki) i systematycznym (koncepcja nauki i techniki wpływa na sposób ujmowania natury). Po drugie, naukowo-techniczne ujęcie natury doprowadziło do szeregu ważnych konsekwencji światopoglądowych i ideologicznych, które wpływają na kształt relacji człowiek–przyroda.
Contemporary discussion on the separation of a new stratigraphic unit in geology, called anthropocene, which records geological changes of anthropogenic nature, is a context for a new conceptualization of basic categories describing and explaining the state of crisis of relationships between man and nature. The article attempted a retrospective reconstruction of the concept of nature in two dimensions: the experience of various aspects of nature in times of the ecological crisis and philosophical interpretations of this experience. The common element of this existential and scientific experience is the revision of ideas of nature shaped by science and technique. Two key aspects are discovered in the philosophical interpretation. Firstly, the concept of nature is shaped in a scientific and technical context in a historical (scientific revolution, subsequent stages of technology changes) and systematic dimension (the concept of science and technology affects the way of understanding nature). Secondly, the scientific and technical approach to nature has led to a number of important ideological and worldwiev consequences that affect the shape of the human– nature relationship.

Edward Osborne Wilson sformułował hipotezę biofilii, według której biofilia jest tendencją do skupiania się na życiu i procesach podobnych do życia. Status tej hipotezy jest kontrowersyjny zarówno w naukach przyrodniczych, społecznych i środowiskowych, jak i w etyce ekologicznej. Na płaszczyźnie metodologicznej stawiany jest m.in. zarzut niefalsyfikowalności; etycy ekologiczni krytykują hipotezę za jej antropocentryczne implikacje. W artykule proponujemy filozoficzną interpretację biofilii jako formy biomorfizmu, według którego pojęcie bytu substancjalnego, wartości i normy moralności jest oparte na paradygmacie bytu żywego. 
Edward Osborne Wilson formulated the biophilia hypothesis according to which biophilia is a tendency to focus on life and life-like processes. The status of this hypothesis is controversial among the natural, social and environmental sciences as well as in environmental ethics. On the methodological level, among other things, the charge of non-falsifiability is made; ecological ethicists criticize the hypothesis for its anthropocentric implications. In this article, we propose a philosophical interpretation of biophilia as a form of biomorphism, according to which the concept of substantive being, values and norms of morality are based on the paradigm of living being.

The paper presents methodological characteristics of Ecological Philosophy. Its main and leading accounts are considered, like: Ecological Humanism of H.Skolimowski, Deep Ecology, Practical Philosophy of Nature (praktische Naturwissenschaft), Ecofeminism, Social Ecology and Ecological Philosophy of Christian Orientation. The methodological characteristics consists of:(1) providing stipulative and analytic definitions of crucial concepts used in the paper, like: „ecology”, „ecologism” and „ecological philosophy”;(2) the genesis of Ecological Philosophy in the history of ideas, taking into account following aspects: critics of science and technology, critics of Western Philosophy, critics ofculture;(3) presentation of common-or-garden topics of Ecological Philosophy in the domains of: ontology, philosophy of nature and axiology;(4) presentation of main metaphilosophical accounts in Ecological Philosophy.

The main concern on this article is the reconstruction of the concept of the perception of the environment proposed by Tim Ingold, cultural anthropologist from Scotland. The first part of the article is the illustration of historical and theoretical background of the concept of perception of the environment where the basic theoretical assumptions of Tim Ingold’s environmental anthropology were introduced. The main points of the background knowledge are: the ecological approach to the visual perception of J. Gibson, the concept of Umwelt proposed by Jacob Johann von Uexküll, the dwelling perspective for environmental transformations of Martin Heidegger, the concepts of mind embodiment and extension. The reconstruction of the concept of perception of the environment is aimed at explication of three main ideas: the life in movement, dwelling perspective and new skill development. The second part of this article is focused on the applications of the concept of perception of the environment in two case studies: the forest perception and the ecological approach to the materials.
Głównym celem artykułu jest rekonstrukcja koncepcji percepcji środowiska w ujęciu Tima Ingolda, szkockiego antropologa kulturowego. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono historyczny i teoretyczny kontekst ujęcia percepcji środowiska oraz dokonano rekonstrukcji podstawowych założeń teoretycznych antropologii środowiska w ujęciu T. Ingolda. Najważniejszymi elementami tego kontekstu są m.in.: ekologiczna koncepcja percepcji J. Gibsona, koncepcja Umweltu Jakoba Johanna von Uexkülla, idee przekształcania i zamieszkiwania środowiska wg. Heideggera, koncepcje ucieleśnionego poznania i umysłu rozszerzonego. Rekonstrukcja koncepcji percepcji środowiska jest skoncentrowana na eksplikacji trzech głównych idei: życie w ruchu, zamieszkanie oraz kształtowanie umiejętności. W części drugiej artykułu przedstawiono aplikację koncepcji percepcji środowiska do studium przypadku: percepcja lasu i ekologiczne podejście do materiału.

The central issue in the debate on animal minds is the issue of mindreading. This complicated cognitive ability belongs to the key elements of social cognition—as a form of adapting to specific circumstances connected with living in groups, it enables the reading of the mental states of other individuals, e.g. intentions, desires, and beliefs as well as the adaptation of one’s own behavior to this information. The primary purpose of the article is to present the main philosophical controversies which arise in the discussion of whether this ability can be attributed to animals; if so, then to what extent. Philosophical discussions concentrate on methodological issues: alternative interpretational models of animal behavior (mindreading vs reading behavior), anthropomorphism, experimental protocols, and gradeability of mindreading as well as the nature of the mind (thinking).
Główną kwestią w debacie na temat umysłu zwierząt jest kwestia czytania umysłu (mindreading). Ta złożona zdolność poznawcza należy do kluczowych elementów poznania społecznego — jako forma dostosowania się do konkretnych okoliczności związanych z życiem w grupach umożliwia odczyt stanów psychicznych innych podmiotów, np. intencji, pragnień i przekonań, a także adaptację własnego zachowania do tych informacji. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie głównych kontrowersji filozoficznych, które pojawiają się w dyskusji na temat tego, czy zdolność tę można przypisać zwierzętom, a jeśli tak, to w jakim stopniu. Dyskusje filozoficzne koncentrują się na zagadnieniach metodologicznych, takich jak: alternatywne modele interpretacyjne zachowań zwierząt, antropomorfizm, protokoły eksperymentalne i zdolność oceny umysłu, a także natura umysłu (myślenia).

Zbigniew Wróblewski Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Abstract Animal Minds: between naive anthropomorphism and dogmatic anthropodenial The research on animal cognitive capacities is mostly determined by two contrasting methodological attitudes: naive anthropomorphism and dogmatic anthropodenial. The former is defined as fallacious (naive) projecting cognitive, emotional and linguistic capacities of humans on animal world; the latter is denying essential similarities between human being and animals in order to emphasize qualitative differences between these two worlds. Between those attitudes there is some space for putting forward intermediate viewpoints, which include the heuristic value of critical anthropomorphism and indicate those similarities and differences between humans and animals, which deter- mine proanimal moral actions. The aim of the article is to present the strategy of rehabilitation of the teleology in the conception of Robert Spaemann, Reinchard Löw and Hans Jonas. That strategy takes into account a few aspects: (1) the analysis of general conception of explanation in which the character of questions activating the process of explanation is taking into consideration, (2) the analysis of the conception of the teleological and causal explanations (according to the Hempel-Oppenheim model), (3) determination of the pragmatic background of the controversies concerning teleology, (4) determination of the domain and aims of teleological and causal interpretations.
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja strategii rehabilitacji teleologii w ujęciu: Roberta Spaemanna, Reincharda Löwa oraz Hansa Jonasa. Strategia ta uwzględnia kilka aspektów: (1) analizę ogólnej koncepcji wyjaśniania, w której jest uwzględniony charakter pytań uruchamiających proces wyjaśniania, (2) analizę koncepcji wyjaśniania teleologicznego i przyczynowego (według modelu Hempla- Oppenheima) (3) określenie pragmatycznego tła sporu o teleologię, (4) określenie domeny i celów interpretacji teleologicznych i przyczynowych.
