Zbigniew Wróblewski Katolicki Uniwersytet Lubelski Abstract Animal Minds: between naive anthropomorphism and dogmatic anthropodenial The research on animal cognitive capacities is mostly determined by two contrasting methodological attitudes: naive anthropomorphism and dogmatic anthropodenial. The former is defined as fallacious (naive) projecting cognitive, emotional and linguistic capacities of humans on animal world; the latter is denying essential similarities between human being and animals in order to emphasize qualitative differences between these two worlds. Between those attitudes there is some space for putting forward intermediate viewpoints, which include the heuristic value of critical anthropomorphism and indicate those similarities and differences between humans and animals, which deter- mine proanimal moral actions. The aim of this article is to give a philosophical analysis of inter-theoretical relations between the popular science and philosophy of nature and to formulate and the criteria of evaluation of correctness of such relations. The analysis is grounded in the domain of contemporary evolutionism. The main hypothesis is the following: The scientific theories do not imply philosophical theses directly. Nevertheless, they frequently appear in popular works as allegedly following scientific theories.. For example, papers on the theory of human evolution derive metaphysical theses from certain types of naturalism or spiritualism. These popular, metaphysically loaded, pseudo-scientific theories work as the traps. While using them, it is impossible to realize the cognitive aspirations of scientific theories (the error of metaphysical aspirations) that are suggested in their popular elaborations (the error of naive extrapolations). Metaphysical aspirations of the popular science result from the social demand for the philosophy of life. The main purpose of metaphysical interpretations is to turn the "scientific world" into the world of everyday life. This can be done in the frame of so-called hobby-philosophies, which are implicite loaded with serious metaphysical premises. Philosophy of nature is an open forum for the interpretations of scientific theories. Philosophy of nature takes into considerations theoretical as well as practical human attitudes towards the nature.

The paper presents methodological characteristics of Ecological Philosophy. Its main and leading accounts are considered, like: Ecological Humanism of H.Skolimowski, Deep Ecology, Practical Philosophy of Nature (praktische Naturwissenschaft), Ecofeminism, Social Ecology and Ecological Philosophy of Christian Orientation. The methodological characteristics consists of:(1) providing stipulative and analytic definitions of crucial concepts used in the paper, like: „ecology”, „ecologism” and „ecological philosophy”;(2) the genesis of Ecological Philosophy in the history of ideas, taking into account following aspects: critics of science and technology, critics of Western Philosophy, critics ofculture;(3) presentation of common-or-garden topics of Ecological Philosophy in the domains of: ontology, philosophy of nature and axiology;(4) presentation of main metaphilosophical accounts in Ecological Philosophy.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present the strategy of rehabilitation of the teleology in the conception of Robert Spaemann, Reinchard Löw and Hans Jonas. That strategy takes into account a few aspects: (1) the analysis of general conception of explanation in which the character of questions activating the process of explanation is taking into consideration, (2) the analysis of the conception of the teleological and causal explanations (according to the Hempel-Oppenheim model), (3) determination of the pragmatic background of the controversies concerning teleology, (4) determination of the domain and aims of teleological and causal interpretations.
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja strategii rehabilitacji teleologii w ujęciu: Roberta Spaemanna, Reincharda Löwa oraz Hansa Jonasa. Strategia ta uwzględnia kilka aspektów: (1) analizę ogólnej koncepcji wyjaśniania, w której jest uwzględniony charakter pytań uruchamiających proces wyjaśniania, (2) analizę koncepcji wyjaśniania teleologicznego i przyczynowego (według modelu Hempla- Oppenheima) (3) określenie pragmatycznego tła sporu o teleologię, (4) określenie domeny i celów interpretacji teleologicznych i przyczynowych.

General rule concerning providing access to confidential information is included in article 3 law from the 22nd of January 1999. The act about the protection of confidential information states that the information can be accessible only to a person who guaranties to keep the information in secret. The subject is allowed to acknowledge only part of the information necessary for the job he does. Thus, a potential person is obliged to undergo administrative procedure in order to determine if he fulfills law act's requirements concerning access to confidential information. The second element of the legal action of protection of confidential information is the training of the person. In addition to this, the subject fulfills security survey and the data included in a given survey are checked later in this procedure. Negative result of the procedure triggers denial concerning access to confidential information

The central issue in the debate on animal minds is the issue of mindreading. This complicated cognitive ability belongs to the key elements of social cognition—as a form of adapting to specific circumstances connected with living in groups, it enables the reading of the mental states of other individuals, e.g. intentions, desires, and beliefs as well as the adaptation of one’s own behavior to this information. The primary purpose of the article is to present the main philosophical controversies which arise in the discussion of whether this ability can be attributed to animals; if so, then to what extent. Philosophical discussions concentrate on methodological issues: alternative interpretational models of animal behavior (mindreading vs reading behavior), anthropomorphism, experimental protocols, and gradeability of mindreading as well as the nature of the mind (thinking).
Główną kwestią w debacie na temat umysłu zwierząt jest kwestia czytania umysłu (mindreading). Ta złożona zdolność poznawcza należy do kluczowych elementów poznania społecznego — jako forma dostosowania się do konkretnych okoliczności związanych z życiem w grupach umożliwia odczyt stanów psychicznych innych podmiotów, np. intencji, pragnień i przekonań, a także adaptację własnego zachowania do tych informacji. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie głównych kontrowersji filozoficznych, które pojawiają się w dyskusji na temat tego, czy zdolność tę można przypisać zwierzętom, a jeśli tak, to w jakim stopniu. Dyskusje filozoficzne koncentrują się na zagadnieniach metodologicznych, takich jak: alternatywne modele interpretacyjne zachowań zwierząt, antropomorfizm, protokoły eksperymentalne i zdolność oceny umysłu, a także natura umysłu (myślenia).
