Opis:
The German community in Lodz cultivated traditional forms of spending time, common in their homeland. The most popular were choirs and up to 1914 there were about a hundred of them in Lodz. The number reduced to 50 between 1918 and 1939. Vocal art and choral singing played a significant role in preserving native language and reinforcing the community national feelings. The German singers associations were egalitarian, since they gathered members with various social backgrounds and vocations. The financial support of German Lodz manufacturers gave opportunities of managing and organising both church and secular choirs without restraints. The experienced professional conductors were hired to work with the singers. The vivid contacts with choirs from Germany were also held. Hence the choirs performed the greatest oratorical and choral musical masterpieces.

Opis:
Background. Deletion syndrome 22q11.2 is a frequently occurring genetic disorder effecting not only malfunctions of the structure and function of many organs and systems, but also a number of psycho-social problems in patients of all ages. Objectives. The aim of the study was the evaluation of psycho-social problems experienced by people with confirmed 22q11DS observed by their parents/caregivers. Material and methods. A group of 32 parents’/caregivers’ children with 22q11DS diagnosis (confirmed by FISH or MLPA analysis) were examined. The age of patients at the moment of examination was from 3 months to 23 years. To identify the most frequent problems a questionnaire survey was used with the use of the authors’ questionnaire. Results. On the basis of the acquired data analysis it was stated that the most frequent problems in children reported by the questioned parents/caregivers were problems with speech development, problems with focusing attention, problem in relations with peers, and school difficulties. The questioned parents also emphasized excessive anxiety of the children and frequent behavior disorders. Moreover, many parents are concerned with their children’s adult lives, and emphasize the necessity of professional support (including psychological) in different stages of the sick child’s upbringing. Conclusions. Patients with 22q11DS experience many psychological and social problems and require, with their families, psychological support in different stages of life. The child’s condition, in many parents’ opinion, is a factor significantly influencing functioning in life and determining the occurrence of problems in the future. The task of primary care physicians is not only to identify patients suspected of 22q11DS and to lead them to genetic diagnostics, but also to provide support to the patients and their families in different stages of life in cooperation with many other specialists.

Odszukane w zbiorach Gabinetu Rycin Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego rękopiśmienne plany wsi („kolonii”) założonych w latach 1799–1802 przez władze pruskie w okolicach Łodzi, stały się zachętą do przybliżenia ich historii. Na podstawie źródeł archiwalnych i literatury zrekonstruowano trudne początki gospodarowania sprowadzonych do nich osadników z głębi Niemiec. Scharakteryzowano przesłanki i omówiono czynniki pozwalające omawianym wsiom zachować układ przestrzenny oraz odrębność kulturową mieszkańców.
Within 1799–1802 Prussian authorities created in the South Prussia province several villages inhabited with peasants brought from Schwaben. All of them were located in woodland and were to be reclaimed by the coming people. There are maps and plans preserved showing five of the villages hence it enabled more detailed description. All the villages, called colonies, had a linear and regular housing scheme. The amount of land given to the particular peasant was determined by his wealth. The area of the biggest farmlands was not bigger than 4 łan (67 h). Yet the most common were farmlands covering 5–15 h. All of the villages received help from the Prussian administrative offices and were given livestock, tools and seeds. After six years free of any chargé, settlers were obliged to pay rent. The expenses on forming the villages were never reimbursed since the South Prussia became a part of the Duchy of Warsaw and after 1815 a part of Polish Kingdom. The inhabitants preserved their cultural autonomy till 1945y. They were Lutherans and spoke Schwaben dialect difficult to understand even for other German settlers.

Podjęta w latach 1823–1824 próba zorganizowania w Uniejowie osady fabrycznej i uprzemysłowienia miasta nie powiodła się. Wytwórczość bawełniana i lniarska, zainicjowana przez cudzoziemskich rzemieślników, nie znalazła odpowiedniego wsparcia ze strony władz miejskich i wojewódzkich. W artykule scharakteryzowano grupę pierwszych uniejowskich „fabrykantów” i zakres podjętej przez nich działalności oraz wskazano przyczyny niepowodzenia w industrializacji miasta.
The attempt, made in 1823–1824, to organize in Uniejów a factory settlement and to industrialize the town, was not successful. Cotton and flax manufacturing initiated by foreign crafts - men did not receive sufficient support from the city and province authorities. The article presents the group of the first ‘manufacturers’ in Uniejów and the scope of their activities, and explains the reasons for the failure to industrialize the city.

Zagadnienie sztucznej inteligencji (AI) będącej efektem dynamicznego rozwoju technologii informacyjnej jest przedmiotem badań od kilkudziesięciu lat. Jednym z systemów inteligentnych, który generuje odpowiedzi na dowolnie postawione pytania jest ChatGPT, którego jednym z obszarów zastosowania jest edukacja. Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań sondażowych przeprowadzonych w ramach zajęć dydaktycznych z zarządzania wśród studentów Uniwersytetu Ekonomicznego w Krakowie. Badania miały na celu identyfikację opinii studentów na temat możliwości wykorzystania platformy ChatGPT w rozwiązywaniu konkretnych problemów decyzyjnych i były prowadzone podczas zajęć dydaktycznych w semestrze letnim roku akademickiego 2022/23. W artykule opisano powstanie i rozwój systemu ChatGPT, zaprezentowano metodę badawczą oraz wyniki badań. Dokonano również dyskusji uzyskanych wyników z wnioskami zaprezentowanymi w literaturze naukowej. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że większość badanych studentów jest pozytywnie nastawiona do wykorzystania systemu ChatGPT na zajęciach. W odpowiedziach na pytanie otwarte pojawiły się jednak różne opinie. Z jednej strony wskazano na korzyści wynikające z jego stosowania jako narzędzia wspomagającego naukę, takie jak ułatwienie wyszukiwania informacji, parafrazowanie tekstu czy generowanie planów pracy. Z drugiej strony pojawiły się obawy dotyczące możliwości popełnienia plagiatu, a także ryzyko utraty umiejętności poszukiwania informacji przez studentów w sposób rzetelny i efektywny.
Artificial intelligence (AI), the result of the dynamic development of information technology, has been the subject of research for several decades. ChatGPT is an intelligent system that generates answers to arbitrary questions, and one of its fields of application is education. This article presents the results of a survey conducted as part of a teaching course in management among students at the Krakow University of Economics. The research was aimed at identifying students' opinions on the possibility of using ChatGPT in solving specific decision-making problems and was conducted during the didactic classes in the summer semester of the academic year 2022/23. The article describes the origin and development of ChatGPT, presents the research method and the results of the research. A discussion of the results obtained with conclusions presented in the scientific literature is also made. The analysis shows that the majority of the students surveyed were positive about the use of the ChatGPT system in their classes. The students' responses to the open-ended question revealed different opinions. On the one hand, the benefits of using ChatGPT as a learning support tool were pointed out, such as facilitating information retrieval, paraphrasing text or creating work plans. On the other hand, concerns were raised about laziness, plagiarism and the loss of the ability to search for information reliably and efficiently.

Przedstawiono metody wibroakustyczne stosowane do oceny stanu dynamicznego łożysk sprężarek. Przedstawiono wyniki badań stosowanych w instalacji chłodniczej do zamrażania produktów pochodzenia zwierzęcego. Stan dynamiczny insta-lacji chłodniczej oceniono na podstawie pomiaru wartości skutecznej prędkości drgań mechanicznych mierzonych na korpusie łożysk sprężarek. Wyniki pomiarów otrzymane podczas badań porównano z zalecanymi przez normy krajowe PN lub ISO.
The vibroacoustic methods used to assess the dynamic condition of bearings are presented. The paper presents the results of tests used in a refrigeration system for the freezing of animal products. The dynamic condition of the cooling system was assessed on the basis of the measurement of the effective value of the velocity of mechanical vibrations measured on the bearing housing of compressors. The results of measurements obtained during the tests were compared with national standards recommended by the PN or ISO.

Wydana w 2014 r. książka Hanny Krajewskiej stara się wypełnić tę lukę, opisując poszczególne denominacje oraz dziedziny i formy szczególnej aktywności ich członków: ewangelizację i edukację. Nie jest to próba udana. Wadliwa jest koncepcja pracy, w której nie zdefiniowano kluczowego pojęcia „ewangelizacja”, zaliczając do niej praktycznie wszystkie przejawy działalności wspólnot wyznaniowych, łącznie z dokonaniami na polu edukacji.

Prior to the First World War there were approximately 500 thousand German people living in the Kingdom of Poland, 75% of them living in the countryside. The majority of them perceived the national consciousness only in a sense of the common language and religion (confession). „The late awakening” of national consciousness was as a result of the war events. The large number of Germans gained wait-and-see attitude towards the political outcomes of the war. The most initiative branch of the Germans were so called ‘aktivists’. They felt responsible for the whole German community in the Kingdom of Poland. They constituted ‘Deutsches Verband’, which soon consisted of 20 thousand members, ‘Deutsch-evangelischen Landesschulverband’, ‘Deutschen Genossenschaftsverband’. The complete loyalty towards to the forming Polish state was publicly declared. Germans’ only claim regarded the right to use German language ‘at home, at school and in the church’. The forcing attempt of making the Evangelical-Augsburg Church a national church failed.

At the turn of 19th and 20th centuries the first academic writings on the Lodz textile industry were developed.Their authors were descendants of Lodz factory owners who studied at German universities (Frida Bielschowsky, Kurt Schweikert), as well as researchers not connected with Lodz (Róża Luksemburg, Alfred Scholz). The common feature of these research papers was their historical and economical view of the subject. The article characterizes the main thesis of the writings and shows the influence of Marxist theory as well as the ideas of the younger German school of economics. The sources of glorification in the presentation of the achievements and influence of German industrialists were also discussed.The article contains a thesis on the permanency of the Lodz industrial image which was created in the discussed academic writings.
