Zaburzenia głosu są w ostatnich latach najczęściej orzekaną chorobą zawodową, dlatego zasadne jest rozważenie potrzeby i metodyki przeprowadzania badań przesiewowych głosu u osób pracujących głosem. Artykuł podejmuje problematykę skuteczności oceny przesiewowej głosu na przykładzie pilotażowych badań w grupie nauczycieli (n = 22) i chórzystów (n = 14). Wyniki badań wskazują na efektywność diagnostyczną połączonej samooceny głosu (przy pomocy VHI) oraz oceny parametru maksymalnego czasu fonacji (MCF) i oceny odsłuchowej według kategorii skali GRBAS.
Voice disorders are the most frequently diagnosed occupational disease in recent years, making it reasonable to consider the need for and methodology of voice screening in voice workers. This article addresses the issue of the effectiveness of voice screening assessment using a pilot study in a group of teachers (n = 22) and choristers (n = 14) as an example. The results of the study indicate the diagnostic effectiveness of a combined voice self‑assessment (using the VHI) and assessment of the phonation time parameter (MCF) and listening assessment according to the GRBAS scale categories.

The article has several objectives. First, it aims to discuss, based on the international literature analysis, theoretical models and factors influencing early retirement decisions, and limiting work ability and employability of older people. Second, the concept of (and the factors related to) work ability as well as the role of age management in improving employability and sustaining work activity of older adults are analyzed against the backdrop of the Polish context. Cultural (ageism) and organizational (e.g., a lack of appropriate age management in companies) factors influencing work activity in the oldest age groups are taken into account. Third, the authors present some solutions and recommendations coming from the international Participation To Healthy Workplaces And inclusive Strategies in the Work Sector (PATHWAYS) project. Finally, theoretical models, concepts and solutions are integrated into a model elucidating the conditions (cultural, social, organizational, individual) influencing work ability of older adults. The model aims to take into account theories and factors identified in the literature review and grouped into several categories. The analysis highlights the role of appropriate age management in companies in the process of sustaining work ability of older employees.

This study presents a comprehensive synoptic analysis of one of the most violent storms recorded in recent years in the northwestern part of Poland, which occurred on August 11, 2017. Its development took place ahead of a waving cold front in the tropical air mass, downstream of the upper-level trough. The thunderstorms formed over Lower Silesia in the afternoon and moved towards Gdańsk Pomerania to occur over the Baltic Sea after midnight on August 12, 2017, where they gradually disappeared. As the thunderstorms moved through this area, they ranged from single convective cells and unorganized multicell storms through supercell thunderstorms to mesoscale convective systems in the form of bow echo squall lines and the mesoscale convective vortex (MCV). The convective system, evolving over time, fulfilled the derecho criteria. Its development was related to the presence of both the upper and mid-level jet stream, which supported the formation of a strong rear inflow jet (RIJ) in the rear part of the convective system, being one of the main factors generating the formation of a bow echo squall line with strong wind gusts. The maximum wind gusts recorded on August 11, 2017, are among the highest in the history of Polish measurements and amounted to 42 m/s in Elbląg, 36 m/s in Chrząstów, 35 m/s in Gniezno, and around 30 m/s at several other stations.

Szczegółowo omówiono Polską Bibliografię Naukową (PBN) – jej transformację, stan obecny, funkcjonalność, potrzeby, oczekiwania użytkowników oraz znaczenie i zadania na przyszłość. PBN jest istotnym portalem Ministerstwa Edukacji i Nauki oraz bazą bibliograficzno-analityczną zintegrowanego Systemu Informacji o Szkolnictwie Wyższym POL-on. Ranga PBN wynika z przypisywanej jej roli oficjalnego źródła danych, wykorzystywanego w procesie ewaluacji jednostek naukowych, a w konsekwencji służącego do podziału dotacji w szkolnictwie wyższym.
The article characterizes the development of the system of institutional evaluation of science in Poland. The Polish Scientific Bibliography (PBN) is discussed in detail – its transformation, current state, functionality, needs, users’ expectations as well as its importance and tasks for the future. The PBN is an important portal of the Ministry of Education and Science and a bibliographic-analytical database of an integrated Information System on Higher Education POL-on. The importance of the PBN results from its role as an official data source used in the process of evaluation of scientific units and consequently, for the distribution of subsidies in higher education.

Kilku uczestników tej wymiany zdań postanowiło kontynuować rozmowę i podzielić się swoimi opiniami dotyczącymi nauki i praktyki logopedycznej, a także kształcenia młodych adeptów logopedii.
The presented text was inspired by a discussion that took place during a speech and language conference in Chorzów in September 2017. Researchers discussed important problems related to the theory and speech-language therapy practice. Several participants of this exchange of opinions decided to continue the conversation and share their opinions about speech-language therapy (SLT) as a discipline of science and SLT practice as well as the education of young students of SLT.

W pracy dokonano oceny biomechanicznej funkcji lokomocyjnych weterana wojennego. Uzyskane dla weterana wojennego wyniki ilościowej analizy chodu porównano z wartościami otrzymanymi dla grupy 56 zdrowych osób dorosłych, bez zaburzeń w obrębie narządu ruchu. Badania doświadczalne przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem systemu optoelektronicznego BTS Smart. Analizie porównawczej poddano parametry czasowo-przestrzenne i kinematyczne chodu oraz zmiany energii całkowitej, potencjalnej, wypadkowej energii kinetycznej w czasie chodu. Uzyskane dla weterana wojennego wyniki znacznie odbiegały od wartości/zakresów normatywnych, wskazując na znaczne obrażenia aparatu ruch, które poniósł podczas wybuchu improwizowanego urządzenia wybuchowego.
In the work the biomechanical evaluation of locomotion functions of a war veteran was made. The results of the quantitative gait analysis obtained for a war veteran were compared with the values obtained for a group of 56 healthy adults without locomotor disorders. Experimental studies were carried out using the BTS Smart optoelectronic system. The spatiotemporal and kinematic parameters of gait as well as changes in total energy, potential energy, kinetic energy and its components during gait were subjected to comparative analysis. The results obtained for a war veteran differed significantly from normative values / ranges, indicating significant injuries to the apparatus, which he suffered during the explosion of the improvised explosive device.

Objectives The objective of this study is to present the barriers existing in Poland to professional integration and reintegration of people with chronic diseases, including mental health conditions, and discuss them on the basis of expert opinions and in comparison with the situation in other European countries. Material and Methods The research methodology was based on a mixed-methods approach, including literature review, in-depth expert interviews, and a survey (based on a structured questionnaire) performed with experts. Results The mapping of policies, systems and services facilitating the integration and reintegration of people with chronic diseases in Poland, as well as expert opinions, made it possible to identify many barriers regarding access to support, such as an obligation to have a certificate of disability, and a system of certification by 2 institutions. There are also barriers regarding the support itself, including problems with subsidies and with professional (re)integration services. Conclusions Poland has a multi-level and multi-sector system of public institutions, which should provide support for people with disabilities and chronic diseases. Goal – The authors undertake to assess the scale and form of anti-crisis state assistance in the context of restoring the stability of the financial system in the EU. Such assistance is a form of intervention undertaken independently by EU Member States under the conditions of admissibility applicable in the EU. The applied instruments include: state aid (discussed in detail in this paper) and financial assistance on general terms applied in the form of unconventional instruments. The authors attempt to answer two basic questions: Was anti-crisis assistance necessary in the EU in order to maintain the stability of the financial system? What are the long-term consequences of implementing such measures at the EU level and in individual EU Member States? Research methodology – The study uses the method of analysis of partial phenomena and identification of causal changes occurring in the financial system. On this basis, theoretical inference is carried out allowing to determine whether the anti-crisis measures used by EU financial policy have brought tangible results for the financial system and the real economy. In order to formulate final conclusions, available statistical data and the results of research conducted on an international level are analyzed. Next, the current value of financial aid is estimated and the adopted assumptions and efficiency of the implemented instruments of state financial policy are analyzed and assessed. Score – In view of the objective and scope of the conducted research, it is expected that the obtained results will allow the authors to identify the scale of public aid and the assistance provided in the form of unconventional financial policy instruments implemented during the global financial crisis. This approach will make it possible to perform an appraisal of the use of selected mechanisms for stabilizing the financial system. The conducted research should enable the authors to assess the impact of anti-crisis aid on the state of public finances and the stability of the market financial system.

During the period 2007–2013 grants were the dominant instrument of state aid and de minimis aid in Poland. They were followed by fiscal (passive) instrument, which accounted for 8.7% of total aid and 6% of de minimis aid in 2013, mainly in the form of tax relief and exemptions (A2) provided by the tax authorities and local government. The instrument was used as rescue and restructuring aid but also as development aid.
W Polsce w latach 2007–2013 dominującą formę ogólnej pomocy publicznej oraz pomocy de minimis stanowiła pomoc czynna, a nie bierna. Podatkowe i parapodatkowe instrumenty pomocy biernej angażowały w 2013 r. tylko 8,7% udzielonej pomocy ogólnej i 6% pomocy de minimis. Były wykorzystywane głównie w formie ulg i zwolnień podatkowych (A2) przez organy skarbowe oraz JST. Są one używane jako pomoc ratunkowa i restrukturyzacyjna oraz pomoc ukierunkowana prorozwojowo.

The fragment of Rosa’s Bailly correspondence with the management of Library Maria Curie-Sklodowska University from 1957 to 1971 is an interesting example of contacts, which established the Library in the first decades of existence. This correspondence is a memoir. In a letter to the director Tadeusz Smołka of 27 December 1967, Rosa Bailly recalls – in a reflective and emotional way – Maria Curie-Sklodowska. She appreciates by an album dedicated to the Polish scientist, writes about staying in Lublin, living in Pau and the work on a book about Warsaw. This letter has stimulated not only the memories of the French activist, Director of the Library MCSU, but also has been an attempt to restore mutual contacts of Rosa with the Library.

Badania dotyczące zależności między zaangażowaniem religijnym a zdrowiem pokazują, że religijność może być źródłem wielu korzyści dla jednostki. Na pierwszym miejscu należy wymienić rolę zasobów religijnych w radzeniu sobie ze stresem. Korzyści te mogą mieć realne przełożenie na stan zdrowia, zarówno psychicznego, jak i somatycznego, szczególnie w starszym wieku. W przypadku zdrowia fizycznego wśród mechanizmów wyjaśniających obserwowaną zależność przytacza się nie tylko rolę religii w zmaganiu się z sytuacjami stresowymi, ale wskazuje się również na wpływ norm religijnych na styl życia czy stosunek do własnego ciała. W prezentowanej pracy autorki pokazują część badań przeprowadzonych w ramach projektu dotyczącego wpływu zaangażowania religijnego na zdrowie. Grupą badaną były osoby starsze, deklarujące wyznanie rzymskokatolickie, o różnym poziomie zaangażowania religijnego. Zarówno religijność, jak i zdrowie rozumiane były wielowymiarowo i ocenione kompleksowo na podstawie obszernego kwestionariusza ankiety. Wyniki analiz statystycznych wskazują na związek między niektórymi wymiarami religijności a ogólną percepcją zdrowia i samooceną funkcjonowania fizycznego. Jeśli w pewnych przypadkach to stan zdrowia wpływał na religijność (np. na częstotliwość praktyk wspólnotowych), a nie na odwrót, to w innych kierunek zależności nie jest tak oczywisty i wskazuje na możliwość zinterpretowania zaobserwowanych związków w kategoriach mechanizmów zależności szczegółowo opisanych we wstępie do artykułu.
According to the research on the relationship between religiousness and health, religious involvement may have beneficial influence on individuals’ well-being, first of all serving as a potential source of religious coping responses. Due to their role in dealing with acute and day-to-day stressors religious resources can have a real impact on as well as physical health in older age. When it comes to physical health/functioning not only religious coping but also the role of religious norms in shaping healthy lifestyles and body practices is indicated as a potential mechanism of influence. This paper presents selected results of the research on the relationship between the level of religiousness and health/quality of life in older age. The sample population consisted of 367 randomly selected Roman Catholics aged 65 and over displaying various levels of religious involvement. Both religiousness and health were conceptualized as complex, multidimensional variables. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire. In the statistical analyses Hierarchical Cluster Analysis and regression analysis were performed. Significant relationship were observed between some of the analyzed dimensions of religiousness and general health perception as well as physical functioning of older respondents. While in some of the observed cases health status influenced the level of religious involvement (eg. the frequency of public religious practices) and not vice versa, in the other cases the direction of the relationship is not as clear and can be explained in the light of the theories and mechanisms described in detail in the introduction to the presented paper.

W opracowaniu opisano argumenty występowania w naukach o zarządzaniu wielu paradygmatów. Zakłada się, że paradygmat to powszechnie akceptowany wzorzec opisu rzeczywistości, możliwy do opisu przy pomocy określonych instrumentów badawczych właściwych dla danej dyscypliny naukowej. System paradygmatów współczesnego zarządzania składa się z metaparadygmatu, całościowego paradygmatu i paradygmatów cząstkowych. Metaparadygmatem jest turbulentne otoczenie, paradygmaty cząstkowe obejmują paradygmat celu działania, którym jest renta sieciowa, paradygmat sieciowej formy organizacyjnej, paradygmat kompetencji relacyjnej i sieciowej technologii informacyjnej.
The study describes the arguments for the existence of in the teachings of many management paradigms. It is assumed that the paradigm is a widely accepted standard description of reality, possible todescribe using specific research instruments appropriate to the scientific discipline. Paradigms system consists of a meta paradigm, a holistic paradigm and partial paradigms. Meta paradigm = The rapidly changing environment. Holistic paradigm = The concept of network organization. Partial paradigms = The objective of the action – the economical network’s rent. Organizational form – network’s organization, relational. Competence – cooperation, coopetition. Information technology – network’s information.
