    Maria Wysłouchowa to jedna z najwybitniejszych polskich działaczek politycznych ruchu ludowego, kulturowego i kobiecego na przełomie XIX i XX w. Autorka wielu utworów o tematyce historycznej, tłumaczka i popularyzatorka literatury słowiańskiej. Większość życia poświęciła redagowaniu czasopism społeczno-literackich, które stanowiły pomost pomiędzy inteligencją lwowską a nieuświadomionymi warstwami chłopskimi. Wysłouchowa swoimi dążeniami wyznaczała drogę ku demokratyzacji życia publicznego w Galicji.
    Maria Wysłouchowa was the most distinguished Polish political activist of people’s, cultural and female movement in 19th and 20th century. She is the author of many historical works, a translator and popularizer slavic literature. Most part of her life she spent on editing socio-literary magazines which comprised a tie between Lviv intelligentsia and unaware peasants. Wysłouchowa’s endeavours set a way to democratization public life in Galicia.

    Artykuł zajmuje się prezentacją oblicza społeczno-politycznego Lwowa w okresie pierwszej wojny światowej na podstawie wspomnień Bohdana Janusza. Zapiski obejmujące początkowy okres wojny z perspektywy polsko-ukraińskiego badacza kultury i przeszłości Lwowa oraz Galicji Wschodniej przełożyły się nie tylko na silny kontekst emocjonalny opisywanych wydarzeń, ale także w pełni odzwierciedlają atmosferę panującą w mieście. Zróżnicowanie przekazu egodokumentów, ze względu na status społeczny ich autora, pozwala na znaczne przybliżenie portretu zbiorowego mieszkańców Lwowa.
    The article presents the social and political face of Lviv during the First World War, based on the memoirs of Bohdan Janusz. The notes covering the initial period of the war from the perspective of a Polish-Ukrainian researcher of the culture and past of Lviv and Eastern Galicia present not only the strong emotional context of the described events, but also fully reflect the atmosphere in the city. The diversification of the transmission of the ego-documents, due to the social status of their author, allows a much closer look at the collective portrait of the inhabitants of Lviv.

    Narodziny zorganizowanego ruchu ludowego, którego przejawem było powołanie do życia Towarzystwa Demokratycznego Polskiego, a następnie Stronnictwa Ludowego, było zwieńczeniem wieloletniego procesu rozpoczętego na początku ery konstytucyjnej. Realizacja politycznych dążeń działaczy chłopskich, których pierwszym krokiem stało się powstanie Ludowego Centralnego Komitetu Wyborczego w 1895 r., rozpoczęła nowy etap w galicyjskim ruchu ludowym. Grupa demokratycznej inteligencji, skupiona wokół Bolesława Wysłoucha, ks. Stanisława Stojałowskiego oraz braci Potoczków, swoje aspiracje polityczne koncentrowała na emancypacji ludności wiejskiej spod wpływów konserwatystów i ziemiaństwa oraz rozbudzenia świadomości politycznej chłopów galicyjskich. Pomimo licznych niepowodzeń ideologicznych i organizacyjnych narodziny nowej siły na galicyjskiej scenie politycznej niewątpliwie miało wielkie zasługi w uświadomieniu i w konsekwencji odrodzeniu społeczeństwa polskiego.
    The birth of an organised peasants’ movement, the manifestation of which was the creation of the Polish Democratic Society, and then the Peasants’ Party, was the height of many years’ process, commenced at the beginning of the constitutional era. The implementation of political aims of peasant activists, the frst step of which was the establishment of the Peasants’ Central Election Committee in 1895, started a new era in Galician peasants’ movement. A group of democratic intelligentsia, gathered around Bolesław Wysłouch, Rev. Stanisław Stojałowski and the Potoczek brothers, focused its political aspirations on the emancipation of village population from conservative infuences and landowners and the raising of Galician peasants’’ political awareness. Despite numerous ideological and organisational failures, the birth of a new power on the Galician political scene, undoubtedly, contributed considerably to the education of the Polish society and, consequently to its rebirth.

    The purpose of this work is to study the effect of oil pocket shape and density on friction in reciprocating sliding. The experiments were conducted in reciprocating motion under starved lubrication conditions. Tribological tests were performed using an Optimol SRV5 tribotester. The frictional pair consisted of two discs of 42CrMo4 steel. One disc was laser textured. The oil pockets had circular and sandglass shapes. Disc samples of various texture shapes were characterized by the same pit-area ratios. The operating parameters were the same for all friction pairs. In most cases, surface texturing led to reductions in friction force value and scatter. For both dimple shapes, the best tribological properties were achieved for oil pocket density of 9%. When discs with circular dimples were tested, the highest resistance to motion was received for the highest pit-area ratio of 9%. On the contrary, the worst tribological performance of discs with sandglass-shaped oil pockets of sandglass shape were obtained for the largest oil pocket density of 22%.

    The degree of activation of cells involved in cellular immune re-sponse against tumor antigens (cytotoxic lymphocytes Te) as well as efficiency of the mechanisms which promote immunosuppression (Treg — regulatory cells CD4±CD25±Foxp3±) may determine the course of the neoplastic disease. The aim of this study was to assess the function of autologous peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) involved in the immunological processes on the basis of expression of Foxp3 and RORgamma t molecules as well as analysis of the relationships with clinical and morphological features of the tumor (pT and pN stage, G feature, degree of invasiveness according to the TFG classification) in laryngeal carcinoma. Materia! and methods: The analysis included a group of 59 patients with verified squamous celt carcinoma of the larynx. In the pathologic evaluation pTNM classification criteria, depth of invasion and degree of histological dif-ferentiation were used. Expression levels of mRNA for Foxp3 and RORgamma t in peripheral blood mononuclear cells by quantitative analysis of the amplified product in real time (real-time RT2-PCR) were evaluated. The level of Foxp3 and RORgamma t protein expression by Western blot analysis was determined. Results: In squamous celt carcinomas of the larynx, with the highest tumor aggressiveness the significantly highest level of mRNA and protein expres-sion for Foxp3 molecule were observed. The severity of Foxp3 expression at both gene and protein level were positively linearly correlated with the degree of local extent of the tumor (pT3-4), depth of invasion (invasion of cartilage) and the degree of histological differentiation (low-differentiated tumors G3). In the study group of laryngeal cancers significantly lower level of RORgamma t expression in carcinomas with less invasive changes (pT1-2, high-differentiated tumors G1, carcinomas with microinvasion without evi-dence of invasion beyond the lamina propria) was also noted. Conclusions: The study results indicate the important role of immune celt activity as indicators of advancement of clinical and morphological changes in squamous celt carcinoma of the larynx.
