    Opis:
    The objective of the study has been to evaluate the current state of household wastewater and sewage discharge facilities available in rural areas, with special attention paid to domestic wastewater treatment plants. Considerable differences have been determined in the access to water and sewage management infrastructure in individual provinces in total and within rural areas. In the countryside, especially where houses are scattered, domestic wastewater treatment plants seem to be a good solution. By being a form of lasting investment, they can generate ecological and economic benefits over a longer period of time. The analyses showed a constant growth in the number of domestic wastewater treatment facilities, coinciding with a decrease in the number of septic tanks.

    Referat dotyczy problematyki pomiaru równoważenia rozwoju na obszarach wiejskich. W zaprezentowanym przykładzie oceny zastosowano wybrane wskaźniki ilościowe, dotyczące sieci wodociągowej, kanalizacyjnej i gazowej oraz w zakresie ładu środowiskowego. Zbadano również zmienność tych zjawisk w czasie za pomocą indeksów o podstawie zmiennej w latach 2004-2008.
    The paper ains to discuss the issues related to measuring the sustainability of development of rural areas with respect to environmental order, in contrast to urban areas. The investigations covered rural areas in Poland as defined in the Polish classification system, i.e. areas outside administrative borders of towns. The study included data from the years 2004-2008. Regarding research on sustainable development in rural areas it is important to stress that information gathered in the Regional Data Bank, a small number of statistical features generated for rural areas creating a statistical unit is an obstacle. In the present study, access to the network infrastructure promoting environment conservation in the countryside and in towns has been compared. Based on the results, it has been concluded that there are evident disproportions in the number of residents using network facilities in villages and in towns, which was particularly evident in the case of sewage and gas pipelines.

    Opis:
    The aim of this study has been to identify the spatial variability in the acidification of soils and the liming needs as well as the soil availability of fertiliser components in the Province of Warmia and Mazury (województwo warmińsko-mazurskie). The soil spatial variability has been analysed according to the division into administrative districts. The choice of this spatial division pattern was justified by the availability of data and the research subject. The data were obtained from Reports on the Environmental Conditions in the Province of Warmia and Mazury, the database of the Regional Agricultural Chemical Station in Olsztyn and from the Programme for Environmental Protection in the Province of Warmia and Mazury until 2020. The research results showed large differences between the districts, which were mostly due to natural conditions. Because of the high demand for nutrients, it would be advisable to prepare fertilisation plans and to adhere to Good Agricultural Practice recommendations, as this would control the causes and alleviate the consequences of soil acidification induced by farming.

    Praca dotyczy wyznaczania strategicznych obszarów rolniczych oraz cennych ekologicznie. Wyznaczenia tych obszarów dokonano za pomocą ocen punktowych z wykorzystaniem wybranych wskaźników określających stopień przydatności obszarów do pełnienia pewnych funkcji w przestrzeni otaczającej miasto.
    The aim of the study was to identify strategic agricultural areas simultaneously including ecologically valuable land. The study comprised Olsztyn District (excluding the town of Olsztyn). A point method was applied, which involved the indices used to define suitability of land for agricultural production and ecological assets. The study proves that the communes in Olsztyn District are similar in terms of ecological value and agricultural production suitability. Some communes, however, for example Stawiguda, Olsztynek and Purda, are highly ecologically valuable but less suitable for farming. Therefore, they could serve other than agricultural functions, which would nevertheless contribute to conservation of their ecologically valuable assets. There are also such areas, e.g. the commune of Świątki, that could sustain intensive farming practice.
