Opis:
Rare earth niobates are a very interesting group of materials. These compounds have different properties which could be changed in a wide range by appropriate doping. X-Ray diffraction examinations for some compounds of RE3NbO7 group were shown. All peaks agree with diffraction patterns. Phases from other elements are not reported. These materials were divided into three space groups depending on ionic radius of RE3+. The most important from applicational point of view is defected-fluorite type structure which is reached for the smallest RE3+ cations. Surface morphology made by Scanning Electron Microscopy was shown. The microstructure of examined materials varies grain size what is connected with ionic radius RE3+. Electrical measurements made in dry argon atmosphere show that the highest values of ionic conductivity were reached for two last lanthanides rare earth niobates Yb3NbO7, Lu3NbO7 and for Y3NbO7. Contained optical properties measurements show that Spark Plasma Sintering enables to obtain Lu3NbO7 which is transparent for visible light.

Opis:
A composite material, which may be further applied as a single layer fuel cell, was synthesized using solid state synthesis method. Composite consisted of two components. The first was a nanoceramic proton conductor – calcium doped lanthanum niobate. The second one was a nanoceramic semiconductor oxide composed of lithium, nickel and zinc oxides respectively. Structural and electrical investigations were performed on the received material. Scanning electron microscope images showed that the microstructure on the surface of this material is homogeneous. Energy dispersive X-Ray diffraction confirms that the components of the investigated composite are mixed together in a volume of material allowing to current flow through the percolation threshold. Open circuit voltage was changing during measurement from 0.8V to 0.6V. Moreover, the material did not change its structural properties during the current flow, hence it could be a good candidate to the production of single layer fuel cells.

Opis:
We carried out scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy studies of Bi$\text{}_{2}$Te$\text{}_{3}$ surface, which, to the best of our knowledge, had not been attempted so far. We got images of surface of the material in many scales from micrometers to nanometers, which showed a layered structure of Bi$\text{}_{2}$Te$\text{}_{3}$, with many monoatomic terraces. We found agreement between measured heights and corresponding bulk crystal structure derived from X-ray data. In nanoscale we obtained an atomic resolution. Using scanning tunneling spectroscopy we carried out examination of the electronic structure. We observed different I-V characteristics and contrast on current imaging tunneling spectroscopy maps on non equivalent terraces. The dI/dV (~ density of states) curves referred to those terraces were compared with theoretically calculated by Larson et al. density of states derived from Bi p and Te-1 p orbitals. The analysis of our results allowed us to distinguish bismuth from tellurium planes.
