The aim of the study was to develop a method of laparoscopic embryo transfer in pigs and to compare different variants of this method. Two catheter diameters (1.6 mm and 1.0 mm), the method and site of embryo deposition (oviduct or uterus), the embryo development stage (2 – 4 cell or blastocyst), the method for oviduct or uterus stabilization, the potential for cryopreserved embryo transfer, the developmental potential of the embryos after transfer to the oviduct, patomorphology of the oviduct after transfer and possible clinical complications were taken into consideration. Two studies compared two variants of transfer to the uterus, and five variants of transfer to the fallopian tube. The transfer of embryos by the infundibulum may be of limited use due to handling problems and very low efficiency (pregnancy was not achieved). Very low efficiency was shown after transfer of vitrified embryos. Transfer to the fallopian tube by puncture of the fallopian tube, regardless of the developmental stage of the embryo, is the recommended method of embryo transfer. The histopathological examination of the fallopian tube revealed possible changes within the puncture site. The numerous clinical complications observed did not affect the effectiveness of the method.

In contemporary discourses of patronage in art, literature, theatre or music, the motives for becoming involved in patronage are a continuing subject of research interest. Although the area of motivation still remains unclear today, it is undoubtedly the case that the patrons’ initiatives were always linked to using the potential of art for political and propaganda purposes. With the arrival of music printing previous patronage practices took on a new shape. Printed editions, through their previously unachievable extent of distribution, now became a far-reaching instrument of representing high-born personages. The most common way of achieving this were dedication letters, produced with the intention of introducing a given work into broad social circulation. Among the few extant Polish music prints from the sixteenth century, the editions of works by Wacław of Szamotuły (1533) and Valentin Bakwark (1565) are of exceptional significance. This article investigates the paratexts included in this editions and examine both cases from the point of view of patronage practices. Paratexts in the two editions demonstrate the diversity of Renaissance patronage practices and provide examples of the rhetoric involved in the client-patron relationship. Wacław’s poem is exceptional not only against the background of Polish but also European music publishing. It does not contain a request for financial support but is a statement by someone deeply involved in the political life of the country and concerned about the fate of his homeland. Wacław’s poem should therefore be read in the political context and psychological climate of the Commonwealth at that time. It constitute an extension of diplomacy, introducing important accents into the policies of Sigismund Augustus. Bakwark’s dedication letter has a totally different character. It strikes the reader not only by its refined phraseology but also by the plethora of allusions from antique literature and the Bible. The most interesting aspect of the letter is the reference to the figure of Pope Leo X. Bakwark describes him as the perfect model of a Renaissance patron, to whom the world owed the development of art on a scale previously unknown. The letter contains also commentary on the style of Bakwark’s works and the characteristics of his compositional craft. The fact that the both dedications were written by the composers themselves, as well as the considerable length of both letters, point to the significance attached at that time to the paratexts. They indicated the importance of the achievements and activities of clients, at the same time building the prestige of the patron. But, above all, these paratexts demonstrate the different ways of exploiting the potential of art: in Wacław’s case, serving the aims of politics and propaganda; in the case of Bakwark, serving to create an image of the monarch as someone enlightened, sensitive and supportive of the art of music.
Spośród nielicznie zachowanych polskich druków muzycznych z XVI wieku wyjątkowe znaczenie mają dwie krakowskie edycje: Lamentationes Hieremiae prophetae (1553) Wacława z Szamotuł oraz Harmoniarum musicarum in usum testudinis factarum (1565) Valentina Bakwarka. Zawarte w nich listy dedykacyjne, mimo różnic co do charakteru, struktury i treści, są ważnym źródłem informacji o renesansowych praktykach patronackich. Poemat Wacława z Szamotuł (Carmen nuncupatorium) ma wyjątkowy charakter, gdyż wbrew humanistycznej tradycji mody pochwalnej (encomium) nie zawiera prośby o finansowe wsparcie, lecz odnosi się do zagrożenia ze strony Imperium Osmańskiego. Kompozytor, wyjaśniając genezę i posępny charakter swojego dzieła, daje wstrząsający opis inwazji tureckiej na Węgry i przestrzega przed podobnym losem mieszkańców Mołdawii – graniczącego z Polską i Turcją państwa buforowego, w tym czasie całkowicie pogrążonego w chaosie. Ponieważ Zygmunt II August starał się tam odbudować swoje wpływy, poemat Wacława można traktować jako przedłużenie dyplomacji – jako apel o wierność polskiemu królowi. Odmienny charakter ma list dedykacyjny Bakwarka, stanowiący typowe encomium. Choć przepełniony jest metaforami wychwalającymi erudycję, kulturę i wspaniałomyślność Zygmunta II Augusta, to wyjaśnia zarazem okoliczności opublikowania antologii i daje ogólną charakterystykę zawartych w niej kompozycji. Obie dedykacje stanowią ważne źródło informacji o relacjach obu muzyków z ich patronem i pozwalają na dostrzeżenie kontekstów, które w innym przypadku nie byłyby czytelne. Są zarazem świadectwem wykorzystania potencjału sztuki, służącej, w przypadku Wacława, celom polityczno-propagandowym, a w przypadku Bakwarka – kreowaniu wizerunku monarchy jako osoby światłej i wrażliwej. Ilustrują wreszcie wielorakie funkcje drukowanego paratekstu – jako przyciągającego publiczną uwagę „listu otwartego”, potwierdzającego istnienie trwałych relacji patronackich i ukazującego okoliczności wydania dzieł oraz ich przesłanie.

In the clinical presentation of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), speech and communication disorders coexist with cognitive deficits. Discourse is impaired both at the syntactic and lexical levels. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the existence of scintigraphic correlates with lexical and syntactic errors in the patients’ narrative speech. Twelve patients with DLB participated in the study. Analysis shows relationships between selected aspects of narrative discourse in DLB and cerebral hypoperfusion. It has identified correlations between lexical and syntactic impairment of speech and hypoperfusion within temporal, parietal and occipital areas, both in left and right hemisphere. The ability to create narrative speech on the basis of complex pictorial material requires the engagement of the perceptual function, which may explain the relationship between discourse impairment and posterior, in particular right-sided, hypoperfusion.
W obrazie klinicznym otępienia z ciałami Lewy’ego (DLB) zaburzenia mowy i komunikacji współwystępują z deficytami funkcji poznawczych. W zakresie dyskursu odnotowuje się zaburzenia w aspekcie syntaktycznym i leksykalnym. Badanie miało na celu wykazanie korelacji scyntygraficznych z nieprawidłowościami leksykalnymi i syntaktycznymi w mowie opowieściowej chorych. W badaniu uczestniczyło 12 pacjentów z DLB. Wyniki przeprowadzonej analizy ukazują zależności pomiędzy wybranymi aspektami dyskursu narracyjnego w DLB a zaburzeniami perfuzji mózgowej. Stwierdzono, że istnieje zależność pomiędzy zaburzeniami w aspekcie leksykalnym i syntaktycznym wypowiedzi a hipoperfuzją okolic skroniowych, ciemieniowych i potylicznych w półkuli lewej i prawej. Zdolność do tworzenia wypowiedzi mówionej na podstawie złożonego materiału ilustracyjnego wymaga zaangażowania percepcji wzrokowej, co może wyjaśniać związek zaburzeń dyskursu z hipoperfuzją tylną, szczególnie po stronie prawej.

Opis:
The application of hardfacing is one of the ways to restore the functional properties of worn elements. The possibility of using filler materials rich in chrome allows for better wear resistance than base materials used so far. The paper presents the results of research on the use of 3 different grades of covered electrodes for the regeneration of worn track staves. The content of the carbon in the covered electrodes was from 0,5% to 7% and the chromium from 5% to 33%. The microscopic and hardness tests revealed large differences in the structure and properties of the welds. The differences in the hardness of the welds between the materials used were up to 150 HV units. The difference in wear resistance, in the ASTM G65 test, between the best and worst materials was almost 12 times big.

Zmiany w zakresie mowy i komunikacji obserwuje się zarówno w otępieniu z ciałami Lewy’ego (DLB), jak i w chorobie Alzheimera (AD). Badanie miało na celu wyodrębnienie różnic międzygrupowych i ich aspektów leksykalnych i syntaktycznych w mowie wiązanej. W badaniu uczestniczyło 12 pacjentów z DLB oraz 13 osób z AD. Analizie poddano przetranskrybowane wypowiedzi będące opisem obrazka sytuacyjnego, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pierwszej minuty narracji. W wypowiedziach pacjentów z DLB odnotowano mniejszą liczbę słów i zaimków określonych niż w wypowiedziach osób z AD. Chorzy z AD tworzyli natomiast dłuższe wypowiedzi i w ciągu minuty wypowiadali więcej słów. Wyniki zinterpretowano w odniesieniu do profilu poznawczego typowego dla DLB oraz AD. Zaburzenia dyskursu w AD są związane z deficytami leksykalno-semantycznymi, które zubożają zawartość informacyjną tworzonej wypowiedzi.
Changes in speech and communication are seen in both dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The study aimed at delineating differences between two groups in terms of lexical and syntactic aspects of connected speech. 12 patients with DLB and 13 patients with AD participated in the study. Transcriptions of patients’ recordings documenting the performance of the picture description task were analysed, with emphasis on the first minute of the recording. DLB patients used fewer words and definite pronouns than AD patients. Individuals with AD produced longer utterances and used more words per minute. The results are interpreted in the context of cognitive profile typical for DLB and AD. Discourse inefficiency in AD seems to be related to lexical and semantic deficits leading to lower idea density.

Opis:
3D printing in FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) technology is commonly used, mainly in the preparation of prototypes, but also for the production of ready-made elements. Objects printed using the FDM method have characteristic, adverse surface features related to the limitations of this technology. That is why surface treatment of 3D prints becomes crucial. One of the method is metal plating of elements. The most frequently used material in FDM technology is PLA (polylactic acid) and ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene). Study of surface parameters determination for ABS prints after galvanic copper plating is presented in this paper. For this purpose, samples printed with ABS were smoothed in acetone vapour. Most favorable parameters of the surface were obtained for samples that had contact with acetone vapour for 60 minutes. Ultimately, surface analysis of samples after graphite coating and subjected to copper plating was performed. It was found that surface parameters are close to results obtained with traditional methods of metal processing.

The objective of this publication is to present the changes that are currently made to the tyre structure in order to reduce its rolling resistance including the rubber compound, tread pattern and tyre support structure. Based on a broad literature review the authors present a history of changes introduced in the construction of tyres aimed at reducing their share in the energy losses needed to overcome the resistance of rolling wheels in the car's movement (at present it reaches even 50%). They indicate a significant conflict resulting from the rubber properties using the data sets available on the labels of summer and winter tyres in which the improvement of wheel adhesion leads to increased rolling resistance. In the next part, the basic factors determining the rolling resistance of tyres are approximated, focusing on those related to their construction. The influence of the rubber loss factor is described which values at different deformation frequency (turning the wheel 101-102 Hz and its braking at 104-105 Hz). It determines the interaction of the rubber with the road surface. Various ways of actions are shown to reduce the losses occurring during the deformation of the tyre: the use of silica as a rubber filler and the introduction of nanotechnology to control the rubber crosslinking process, reducing the volume of rubber used to build the tyre coating, simplifying the tread pattern and changing the tyre diameter size to a larger one (treatment used in electric cars). Particular attention was also paid to the weakness of the changes, i.e. the increase of the noise generated by the more elastic coating of the tyre and the possible directions of counteracting this phenomenon were signalled.
