The Airy beams propagation in atmospheric turbulence along a slant path was simulated numerically, based on the split-step Fourier method. Also, the self-repairing and non-diffraction characteristics of Airy beams were investigated and compared with beams propagation on a horizontal path. The effects of parameters including zenith angle, propagation distance, radii of Gaussian aperture and turbulence intensity on the two characteristics of beams were revealed. Additionally, the two characteristics of the Airy beam were compared with those of a Bessel–Gauss beam. The results showed that the two beams obscured by Gaussian apertures can be repaired after propagating some distance along a slant path. However, the non-diffraction characteristic of an Airy beam was stronger than that of a Bessel–Gauss beam and the amplitude attenuation rate of the Bessel–Gauss beam was greater than that of the Airy beam in the process of self-repairing. Results obtained can provide a theoretical basis for an outdoor experiment as well as theoretical guidance for various practical applications including laser communications, laser warning systems, and remote sensing.

In this paper, we report the complex crystallization kinetics of phase transition happening in Ti-Cu-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs), which play significant roles in the glass formation with respect to their low reduced glass transition temperatures, Trg. The first exothermic event just occurs when annealing the BMG samples in the supercooled liquid region, leading to the Avrami exponent deviating from conventional modes affected by the residual amorphous phase. For Ti43Cu43Ni7Zr7 BMG, the plasticity can be improved by pre-annealing at a sub-Tg temperature of 623K (≈50K below Tg) for 0.5 hour, however, deteriorated by 1 hour annealing, which could be related to the change in stability of this BMG against crystallization with different pre-annealing times.

In an artificial island construction project based on the large-scale marine reclamation land, the soil settlement is a key to affect the late safe operation of the whole field. To analyze the factors of the soil settlement in a marine reclamation project, the SEM method in the soil micro-structural analysis method is used to test and study six soil samples such as the representative silt, mucky silty clay, silty clay and clay in the area. The structural characteristics that affect the soil settlement are obtained by observing the SEM charts at different depths. By combining numerical calculation method of Terzaghi’s one-dimensional and Biot’s two-dimensional consolidation theory, the one-dimensional and two-dimensional creep models are established and the numerical calculation results of two consolidation theories are compared in order to predict the maximum settlement of the soils 100 years after completion. The analysis results indicate that the micro-structural characteristics are the essential factor to affect the settlement in this area. Based on numerical analysis of one-dimensional and two-dimensional settlement, the settlement law and trend obtained by two numerical analysis method is similar. The analysis of this paper can provide reference and guidance to the project related to the marine reclamation land.

Building a dynamic collision knowledge base of self-learning is one of the core contents of implementing "personified intelligence" in Personifying Intelligent Decision-making for Vessel Collision Avoidance (short for PIDVCA). In the paper, the machine learning method of PIDVCA combined with offline artificial learning and online machine learning is proposed. The static collision avoidance knowledge is acquired through offline artificial learning, and the isomeric knowledge representation integration method with process knowledge as the carrier is established, and the Dynamic collision avoidance knowledge is acquired through online machine learning guided by inference engine. A large number of simulation results show that the dynamic collision avoidance knowledge base constructed by machine learning can achieve the effect of anthropomorphic intelligent collision avoidance. It is verified by examples that the machine learning method of PIDVCA can realize target perception, target cognition and finally obtain an effective collision avoidance decision-making.

The primary condensed-phase combustion products of a boron-based fuel-rich propellant were ignited using a high-power CO2 laser in a pressurized and windowed combustion chamber under variable pressure. The ignition and combustion performances were characterized using an ultraviolet-visible spectrometer and a high-speed camera. The experimental results showed that the combustion of the condensed-phase combustion products originate from the combustion of carbon, and boron may not take any part in the combustion process because of the formation of a thick boron oxide coating and agglomeration after the primary combustion process. Both particle size and the ingredients play an important role in the combustion reaction of the condensed-phase products. It was observed that a lower particle size and a higher boron carbide content are beneficial for the combustion reaction of the products; higher primary and secondary combustion pressures clearly improved the secondary combustion efficiency of the propellant in the combustion reaction.

The speed ratio is an important factor that must be considered when two vessels will course change to avoid collision. In the process of the research on Personifying Intelligent Decision-making for Vessel Collision Avoidance (short for PIDVCA), it is found that the effect of collision avoidance based on the existing “International Regulations for Prevention Collision at sea” (short for COLREGS) is greatly affected by the high speed ratio (k=Vt/V0≥1.5). Through the analysis on the geometric change law of two vessels’ relative motion in Open waters, the effects of the responsibility for the ship collision avoidance under the COLREGS and special case for high-speed ratio is discussed. According to the collision avoidance measures taken for two vessels encounter situation, some reasonable suggestions are put forward and the simulation experiments that based on ship's intelligent collision avoidance simulation platform are given to support the idea.

The source area of the Lancang (Mekong), Yangtze and Yellow rivers is named in Chinese Sanjiangyuan (source of three rivers). Geographical characteristics of these rivers, and various rivers at the margin of the Qinghai- Tibetan Plateau (Jialing, Minjiang, Dadu, Yalong and Jinsha) are summarized from fi eld investigations along with digital elevation model (DEM) analyses and satellite images. Uplift of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau has resulted in an asymmetrical distribution of tributaries for stream networks at the margins of the plateau. Almost all tributaries join the trunk stream from the northwest. Three types of drainage network are evident: plume, nervation and dendritic. In general, plume networks have a large number of first order streams. Nervation networks have a main stream and parallel tributaries. Dentritic networks are characrterized by continuous bifurcation and have a branch-like appearance. Most stream networks in the Sanjiangyuan region are of the nervation type. Several large knickpoints are evident along the longitudinal profi les of the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers. Channel aggradation immediately upstream of these knickpoints marks a transition in river processes from vertical bed evolution (i.e. incision) to horizontal channel adjustment (and associated braided and anabranching channels).
W artykule przedstawiono proces rozwoju progów skalnych wzdłuż rzek Yellow i Yangtze. Wykazano wpływ progów skalnych na zmiany morfologiczne dna koryt rzek. Głównie skoncentrowano się na zmianach agradacyjnych powyżej omawianych progów. Progi te są wyznacznikami zmian charakteru koryta rzecznego, z pionowo wciętego na wielonurtowy, roztopowy o szerszym korycie. Badania wykonano w rejonie Qinghai_Tibetan Plateau, zwanym obszarem źródłowym trzech rzek – oprócz wyżej wspomnianych również rzeka Mekong.

The first aim of this study was to investigate Chinese drivers’ preferences to risk-taking behaviors encountered in daily life, including safety and health, finance, recreation, social areas, and ethics. The second aim was to evaluate the association between Chinese risky driving and other risk-taking behaviors. A questionnaire survey was conducted with the 324 Chinese drivers who responded. Through a principal component analysis an 8-factor structure was created to interpret different domains of risk-taking behaviors. They were risks in driving, ethics, recreation, gambling, abused health (voluntarily engaging in smoking and binge drinking), investment, ignored health (ignoring personal health, such as eating expired food), and monetary social areas. The result of multiple regression analysis showed that drivers who were likely to engage in driving risks were also likely to take risks in domains of ethics, abused health, gambling, investment, recreation, and ignored health.

Dynamic softening behaviors of a promising biomedical Ti-13Nb-13Zr alloy under hot deformation conditions across dual phase α + β and single phase β regions were quantitatively characterized by establishing corresponding dynamic recovery (DRV) and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) kinetic models. A series of wide range hot compression tests on a Gleeble-3500 thermo-mechanical physical simulator were implemented under the strain rate range of 0.01-10 s−1 and the temperature range of 923-1173 K. The apparent differences of flow stress curves obtained in dual phase α + β and single phase β regions were analyzed in term of different dependence of flow stress to temperature and strain rate and different microstructural evolutions. Two typical softening mechanisms about DRV and DRX were identified through the variations of a series of stress-strain curves acquired from these compression tests. DRX is the dominant softening mechanism in dual phase α + β range, while DRV is the main softening mechanism in single phase β range. The DRV kinetic model for single phase β region and the DRX kinetic model for dual phase α + β region were established respectively. In addition, the microstructures of the compressed specimens were observed validating the softening mechanisms accordingly.

To realize “seamless” connection of ocean port container multimodal transport, efficiently carry out “door-to-door” transport of ocean port containers and overcome the shortcomings of existing highway and railway vehicles, this study takes the standard for heavy-duty container vehicles in TB1335-1996 Railway Vehicle Strength Design and Test Identification Code as the design basis and designs a new ocean port container transport vehicle in combination with automatic guidance technology. This study innovatively designs the automatic lifting system of the bogie and the docking part of the vehicle, introduces the automatic guidance technology and the remote-control technology to optimize the car body structure, and uses the SAP software to carry out the finite element analysis of the car body load capacity and Flexsim software to carry out the simulation analysis on the operation of vehicles. The designed transfer vehicle can improve the transfer efficiency of ocean port containers, reduce the transit time of field and station equipment and container transport links, and improve the level of multimodal transport and comprehensive economic benefits.

To solve the problem of offshore oilfield development, based on the newly introduced pulsed neutron oxygen activation logging instrument, the application research of test design and interpretation method was carried out and applied to actual production. The structure, technical indicators and logging principles of pulsed neutron oxygen activation logging tools were introduced. The test design under different well conditions was studied, including general positive and negative injection, oil sleeve injection, single oil pipe configuration and multitubing configuration. A large amount of field test data was collected and analysed technically. A set of effective interpretation models was proposed. The corresponding interpretation software was developed. A set of test design methods and operating specifications for different well conditions were developed. Based on the conventional interpretation method, the peak selection, the double-tuber peak identification and the carbon dioxide flooding interpretation method were added. The results show that the test design and interpretation methods were applied well through a large number of field tests and production applications. Therefore, pulsed neutron oxygen activated injection profile logging technology is successfully applied in offshore oil fields.

Streptococcus suis serotype 2 (SS2) is considered as a major pathogen that causes sepsis and meningitis in piglets and humans, but knowledge of its antigenic proteins remains limited so far. The surface-related proteins of pathogens often play significant roles in bacterium-host interactions and infection. Here, we obtained the elongation factor Tu (EF-Tu) gene of Streptococcus suis and constructed the recombinant expression plasmid successfully. The target recombinant plasmid was then expressed in Escherichia coli and the immuno-protection of the recombinant protein was subsequently evaluated as well. The EF-Tu gene of Streptococcus suis is 1197 bp in length, encodes 398 amino acids. The target recombinant EF-Tu (rEF-Tu) protein can recognize the antiserum of Streptococcus suis and can provoke obvious humoral immune responses in rabbits and conferred protection to rabbits against Streptococcus suis ear-vein challenge, implying that the EF-Tu may be used as an attractive candidate antigen for a component of subunit vaccine.

Stosowane w praktyce inżynieryjnej różnorakie redundancje zwiększają dostępność danego systemu zarazem powiększając jego złożoność, co czyni niepewnymi ocenę niezawodności i wykrywanie uszkodzeń komponentów systemu. Wobec powyższego, poddano badaniom system typu konfguracja-redundancja oraz sformułowano jego funkcję niezawodności. Kiedy niedostępna jest wiedza na temat poprzednich uszkodzeń komponentów systemu, problem uszkodzeń systemu ma charakter problemu stochastycznego. Tymczasem, aby wyeliminować niepewność systemu, konieczne jest wykrycie uszkodzeń w serii komponentów. Zaproponowano model przewidywanej najkrótszej ścieżki oraz model wykrywania uszkodzeń mające służyć optymalizacji niezawodności. Metodę wzajemnej entropii wykorzystano jako algorytm heurystyczny do oceny niezawodności systemu i wykrywania uszkodzeń komponentów. Zastosowane stochastyczne podejście do generowania próbek umożliwia otrzymanie ważnych próbek. W celu poprawienia wydajności obliczeniowej, stworzono hybrydowy algorytm wzajemnej entropii, który łączy w sobie stochastyczne podejście do generowania próbek i metodę wzajemnej entropii. Wyniki numeryczne wskazują na potencjalną poprawę alokacji niezawodności złożonych systemów, która prowadziłaby do jak najlepszego działania wszystkich komponentów systemu.
Engineering practices with various redundancies increase the availability of a system as well as complexity which bring the uncertainty of reliability estimation and failure detection of system components. Under such conditions, a confi gurationredundancy system is studied and the reliability function of the system is formulated. When no prior failure of system components is available, failure problem of system is a stochastic shortest path problem. Meanwhile to eliminate the uncertainty of system, it is necessary to detect failures series of components. The expected shortest path model and failure detecting model are proposed for system reliability optimization. The Cross-Entropy (CE) method is applied as a heuristic algorithm to estimate the system reliability and detect the failure of components. A stochastic sample generating approach is designed to obtain some valid samples. In order to improve the effi ciency of computing, a hybrid CE algorithm which combines the stochastic sample generating approach and the CE method is developed. Numerical results indicate potential improvements in reliability allocation of complex systems that would lead to the best performances of all system components.
