Opis:
High-density GaN nanowires were successfully synthesized on Si(111) substrates through ammoniating $Ga_2O_3//Nb$ films under flowing ammonia atmosphere at 950°C. The as-synthesized GaN nanowires are characterized by X-ray diffraction, selected-area-electron diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, and field-emission transmission electron microscopy. The results show that the synthesized nanowires are single-crystal hexagonal wurtzite GaN with diameters ranging from 30 to 100 nm and lengths up to several microns. The photoluminescence spectra measured at room temperature only exhibit a strong and broad emission peak at 367.8 nm. Finally, the growth mechanism of GaN nanowires is discussed.

The thermal decomposition kinetics of hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane/ ammonium perchlorate (HNIW/AP) have been investigated by thermogravimetrydifferential scanning calorimetry-mass spectrometry (TG-DSC-MS) simultaneous analysis. TG showed that there were three weight loss processes for the thermal decomposition of the HNIW/AP mixture. The first was ascribed mainly to the thermal decomposition of HNIW, while the second and third were assigned to that of AP. The presence of AP has little effect on the thermal decomposition process of the HNIW component. The apparent activation energy of the thermal decomposition of the HNIW component, calculated by the Kissinger method, was little changed compared to that of neat HNIW. The addition of HNIW to AP caused the onset and end temperatures of the thermal decomposition to be decreased and the decomposition process to be shortened. The high-temperature and lowtemperature decomposition processes of AP became blurred in the presence of HNIW, and this was supported by the MS results.

Opis:
In order to study the heat and moisture comfort, the wicking property of textiles has been used as an important and effective index. In this paper, the wicking behaviour of cotton fabric in the warp and weft directions was investigated in terms of the wicking height, rate of wicking, mass increment distribution per centimetre of the wicking height, and the durative wicking height after removal of the wicking liquid reservoir. The results showed that the wicking height square had a good correlation with the time in both the warp and weft directions. The wicking rate was higher in the weft direction than that in the warp, especially at the beginning of the wicking process. The mass increment of fabric per centimetre of the wicking height was inversely proportional to the wicking height; the mass of water absorbed in the fabric did not have a significant difference in the weft and warp directions.
Badanie właściwości zasysania wody jest ważnym wskaźnikiem wykorzystywanym podczas oceny komfortu cieplnego tkanin. W pracy badano właściwości zasysania wody (efekt knota) tkanin bawełnianych w kierunku wątku i osnowy ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wysokości zasysania, szybkości zasysania, rozkładu przyrostu masy cieczy na centymetr wysokości zasysania oraz czasu utrzymania się wysokości zasysania po usunięciu tkaniny ze zbiornika z cieczą. Wyniki pokazały, że kwadrat wysokości zasysania jest zależny od czasu, zarówno w przypadku osnowy jak i wątku. Szybkość zasysania jest wyższa w kierunku wątku, w szczególności na początku procesu zasysania. Rozkład przyrostu masy cieczy na centymetr wysokości zasysania był odwrotnie proporcjonalny do wysokości zasysania; nie odnotowano znaczącej różnicy w ilości zaabsorbowanej wody w tkaninie w kierunku wątku i osnowy.

Buildup of magnetic mineral particles on matrices determines the saturated deposit volume of minerals, which is of great importance in the high gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) systems. In this paper buildup of fine weakly magnetic minerals on the matrix is studied with a force equilibrium model. Elaborate rules of particle buildup on the matrix are presented. An imaginary sector ring is used to approximately quantify the volume of saturated particle buildup. The influence of the particle size, magnetic induction, fluid viscosity and velocity as well as matrix size on saturated particle buildup is investigated and discussed. With the same matrix size, the saturated buildup volume decreases with the decrease of the particle size, applied magnetic induction and increase of the fluid viscosity and velocity. The saturated buildup volume normalized by the matrix volume, and the ratio of particle deposit volume to the matrix volume (Vd/Vm) decreases with the increase of the matrix size. Under the same matrices packing fraction, the total mineral deposit volume, when adopting small size matrices, is larger than that when adopting large size matrices. Only small size matrices can be used for recovery of minerals in size of several micrometers. Based on performed analyses, the ore feeding time in a cycle for a cyclic HGMS system and the rotation speed of the swivel for a continuous HGMS system under different circumstances are also discussed.

In this paper, a three-air-gapped structure of a ferrite core for a resonant inductor is proposed. The electromagnetic and thermal field models are built using a 3D finite element method. Compared with the conventional signal-air-gapped structure of a ferrite core, the simulation and analysis results show that the proposed three-air-gapped ferrite core resonant inductor can reduce eddy-current loss and decrease temperature rise. In addition, the optimal position of air-gapped is presented.

Opis:
Charging operations of a compact Tesla transformer were experimentally investigated, in single-shot and rep-rate (50 pps for 1 s) modes, respectively. The charging limitations were also explored. The experimental results were compared and analyzed. The maximum secondary charging voltages of the Tesla transformer were measured to be 380 kV and 300 kV in single-shot and rep-rate modes, respectively. The RMS pulse-to-pulse instability of the secondary charging voltage is generally less than 10% but increases with the increasing initial voltage across the primary capacitor. Since the secondary capacitor of the Tesla transformer is a pulse forming line (PFL), continued operation is possible if there is breakdown in the PFL. Furthermore, operation can even be continued under occasional breakdown for some pulses, without the effects on the operations of subsequent pulses.

Photoluminescence study of undoped, doped GaN grown on (00.1), (11.0), (01.2)Al$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{3}$ (100), (111)Si, and (00.1)6H-SiC substrates have been conducted. Strong bandedge emissions from all undoped samples and dopant-related emissions from doped samples were observed. Deep-level yellow emission centered around 2.2 eV was not observed from undoped GaN grown on 6H-SiC substrate, undoped GaN with optimum Ga source flow and doped GaN. The experiment data strongly suggest that Ga vacancies are the origin this deep-level emission.

β-$Ga_2O_3$ nanorods were successfully fabricated through annealing $Ga_2O_3$/Mo films deposited on the Si (111) substrate by radio frequency magnetron sputtering technique. The morphology and structure of the as-synthesized nanorods were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-rays spectroscopy. The results show that the formed nanorods are single-crystalline $Ga_2O_3$ with monoclinic structure. The diameters of nanorods are 200 nm and lengths typically up to several micrometers. A photoluminescence spectrum at room temperature under excitation at 325 nm exhibits two strong blue-light peaks located at about 413.0 nm and 437.5 nm, attributed to the recombination of bound electron-hole exciton in β-$Ga_2O_3$ single crystal. The growth process of the β-$Ga_2O_3$ nanorods is probably dominated by conventional vapor-solid mechanism.

This paper firstly expands an efficient numerical methodology developed from the source panel method to the added mass calculation of long column systems in fluid. Structures submerged in fluid are considered as two-dimensional and are discretized into a number of source panels. The influence coefficient matrices and the potential function are then calculated and the fluid forces are calculated by the unsteady Bernoulli equation. Finally, we utilize this present method to calculate the mass coefficients of some typical problems, which effectively verifies its feasibility and accuracy. This method takes into account both applicability and computational efficiency. On the one hand, in contrast to the analytical method which is only applicable to specific cross-sections, this method is applicable to arbitrary boundaries with C0 continuity in mathematics. On the other hand, this method requires less mesh and computation than commercial software. This paper extends the application of the source panel method which is widely used in aerodynamics to provide a reference for added mass calculation problems in engineering.

In order to obtain the characteristics of magnetic core under ≈0.5-5 μs saturation time, a one-stage magnetic pulse compression circuit without external demagnetization circuits which are commonly used in magnetic compressors is designed. The current through the core is calculated by voltage across the resistive load, and the loop voltage is picked up with a single wire loop and integrated by software. B-H curves are derived from the measured voltage and current wave forms. B-H curves show that the core loss is in inverse proportion to the time to saturation, whereas the percentile core loss decreases as the charging energy increases. While the eddy current loss and dissipated energy are in direct proportion to dB/dt. The low inductance of magnetic switch indicates that the core is saturated and behaves as an air core. By applying custom characteristics to each stage in Pspice simulation, more practical energy transfer in magnetic pulse compression and the effects of leakage current are presented.

Bohai is a typical marginal oil field in an ice region, where most of the oil and gas platforms are economical. Sea ice is the main factor that affects the safety of oil and gas platforms in Bohai. Due to the complexity of the ice load and ice-induced vibrations, there are large security risks when developing Bohai oil and gas in the winter. It is difficult to ensure the safe production of oil and gas in winter using existing sea ice disaster warning technologies. Based on winter oil and gas production in the Bohai Sea’s Liaodong Bay, a set of suitable sea ice management systems is proposed in this paper. These systems integrate sea ice monitoring, risk assessment and risk prediction technologies. Based on the risk warning system, an ice management model of a Bohai ice platform has been put into practice, which ensures the safe production of the platform in winter.

In this study, multiscale advancing contact angles for glycerol/water drops at silica surfaces are reported for millidrops, submicron-drops, and nanodrops. Selected silica surfaces were muscovite, silicon, and talc. The contact angles for millidrops (1–2 mm) were determined by the traditional sessile drop technique. For submicron-drops (0.1–1.0 μm), a hollow tip Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) procedure was used. The contact angles for nanodrops (~7 nm) were examined from Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation. The results were compared to evaluate the effect of drop size on the contact angle. In the case of the hydrophobic talc surface, the 75° advancing contact angle did not vary significantly with drop size. For the hydrophilic muscovite surface, the water drop wet the surface and an advancing contact angle of about 10° was found for the millidrops and submicron-drops. However, for the MD simulated nanodrops, attachment and spreading of the ~7 nm drop created a 2D film of molecular dimensions, the contact angle of which was difficult to define and varied from 0° to 17°. Perhaps of equal interest from the MD simulation results was that the spreading of the glycerol/water nanodrop at the muscovite surface resulted in crystallographic directional transport of water molecules to the extremities of the 2D film. Such separation and segregation left the center of the film with an increased concentration of glycerol. Based on these results, the line tension, which has been found in other investigations to account for contact angle decrease with a decrease in drop size, does not seem to be a significant factor in this study.

We investigate the nonclassical properties of para-Bose superposition states which involve the vacuum and one- or two-photon state of paraboson. It is found that these para-Bose superposition states exhibit stronger squeezing and antibunching. The amplitude-squared squeezing for these states is also examined.
