Opis:: Programy poprawy bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego, a co za tym idzie zapobieganie wypadkom drogowym powinny być oparte na solidnej analizie problemów, wiedzy ekspertów i informacji o efektach podejmowanych działań. Kluczowym zagadnieniem jest to jakie dane i informacje są do takich analiz potrzebne. Proces poprawy bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego powinien być wspierany przez krajowy system informacji o bezpieczeństwie ruchu drogowego. Dobrze zaprojektowany system może pomagać specjalistom w zdobywaniu informacji o problemach bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego, najbardziej skutecznych działaniach poprawiających bezpieczeństwo na drogach w kraju i zagranicą. Może być również solidną podstawą do współpracy pomiędzy różnymi organizacjami działającymi na rzecz poprawy bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego w danym kraju. W artykule zaprezentowano elementy systemu informacji o bezpieczeństwie ruchu drogowego.
Road safety programs, policies and strategies should be based on a comprehensive problem analysis, expert knowledge and information about the effects of intervention. It is important to know which information is essential to meet these requirements. Road safety improvement process should be supported by road safety information system. Properly designed system can serve as a basis for a rational accident prevention management. Such system can be a good base for cooperation between organizations working to improve road safety in a country. This article presents all crucial components of effective road safety information system.

Opis:: The article presents the realization of European Project EUCHIRES in years 2005-2007 in which Motor Transport Institute has participated. The project consisted in carrying out activities in Poland aiming at increasing the number of children properly transported in cars - according to Act on Road Traffic regulations - in restrains adequate for child's weight and height. All activities leading to executing the main goal of this project were realized with the support of and in cooperation with the Police, Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Transport. EUCHIRES was a project co-financed by the European Commission. Motor Transport Institute was responsible for all activities undertaken within the project and its realization in Poland. The project was realized simultaneously in fifteen EU countries. The activities encompassed media campaign adjusted to each country's specificity and addressed to children (4-12 years old) and their parents. The campaign was combined with the educational programme executed in schools and kindergartens and increased police controls. These activities were recognized in Poland as social campaigns in the field of road traffic safety realized under the banner of "Armadillo club always belt up". In 2005, at the beginning of the campaign the research showed that in Poland 52% of children were transported properly in cars while travelling. All research carried out annually after each edition of the campaign indicated gradual increase in the number of children transported properly according to valid regulations. Research conducted at the end of 2007 showed that more than 80% of children in Poland were transported properly during each car trip.

System oceny obejmuje cztery najważniejsze elementy: ocenę stanu brd w regionie, analizę interesariuszy, ocenę kompetencji instytucji oraz badanie opinii społecznej przeprowadzone wśród uczestników ruchu drogowego. Ten ostatni element został szerzej przedstawiony w artykule.
The paper describes road safety assessment system, developed within European project SOL – Save Our Lives – A Comprehensive Road Safety Strategy for Central Europe. System is composed of four crucial elements: road safety assessment, stakeholders analysis, institutions competence analysis and public opinion poll. This last element is presented in the article more extensively.

Opis:: The aim of the paper is to present the European Project "MODULE CLOSE TO". The project is executed in eleven European Union countries. The paper describes main objectives and guidelines of the project. The project's main result in the final stage should be the development of conditions for unification of drivers''training system across Europe by introducing into drivers' training new educational module. The module consists in realization of educational method called "peer-to-peer" during drivers' training, which is taken from addiction treatment prevention in which a peer reports on a problem to another peer. In drivers' training, the course participants are confronted with road accident offenders (course participants' peers) and their stories, which should lead to positive changes in attitudes and behaviours of young, beginning drivers and therefore to permanent reduction in number of both road accidents and their victims. The preliminary research confirmed that classes with road accident offenders have a positive influence on developing proper attitudes of young drivers. A discussion concentrated on offender, his/her susceptibility to risky behaviours, accident's circumstances, confrontation with its consequences and on serving an adjudged sentence makes an impression on young course participants. The project anticipates introduction of pilot classes in driving schools, high schools, etc. within the framework of drivers' training with participation of road accident offenders and also evaluation of its influence on course participants. The final effect of the project will be the development of conditions for introducing a new educational module into existing drivers' training system as well as developing conditions for recruiting accident offenders and actions motivating them to join the project realization.
