Opis:
Amorphous glass-coated microwires are ideal material for miniaturized applications for sensing the temperature, stress and magnetic field. One of the key parameters for future applications is their time and thermal stability. It has been shown that stability can be improved by using nanocrystalline materials that combine good soft magnetic properties of amorphous matrix with high structural stability of crystalline grains. Such nanocrystalline materials are usually obtained by annealing of amorphous precursor. In the given contribution, the influence of dc current annealing on the domain structure and GMI effect in amorphous and nanocrystalline $Fe_{40}Ni_{38}Mo_{4}B_{18}$ magnetic microwire has been studied. The annealing induces additional circular magnetic anisotropy, stress relief and structure homogenization. However, the increase of magnetostriction results in the decrease of GMI. Annealing at optimum crystallisation temperature results in an increase of the relative permeability due to the formation of the nanosized grains. Consequently, GMI amplitude is comparable to that of as-cast state.

Opis:
A generalization of the Málaga atmospheric optical communications links treated as a finite number of generalized-K distributed sub-channels is analyzed in terms of outage probability and outage rate when its β parameter belongs to the set of real numbers. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first time that β ∈ ℜ is considered. The new analytical expressions derived in this paper lead to a new physical and more realistic interpretation of atmospheric optical links, especially in terms of performance.

Opis:
Heterodyne holographic interferometry is a well-known interferometric technique for high precision measurements of the phase difference between two recorded wave fronts. These wave fronts are typically registered at a given distance from the object under inspection. Although the affinity of heterodyne techniques with the phase-shifting ones is immediate, reports on concrete implemented set-ups from the former type of techniques as adaptations into the second type seems to be not so widely spread as convenient. To illustrate this point, in this communication we demonstrate two phase-shifting methods as applied to heterodyne holograms, each variant using a different shifting method for phase shifting. One method is based on a conventional piezoelectric stack transducer and the other method comprises modulation of polarization. The alternatives that these two techniques offer could be of direct benefit in dynamic holography.

Opis:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate growth, chlorophyll content, and photosynthesis in Jatropha at different levels of soil moisture. Plants were cultivated in containers and the treatments of the soil water content evaluated were: 0% (without watering), 20, 40, 60, and 80% soil water content. Plant height was statistically similar for all treatments, but the number of leaves differed significantly. Total dry matter and chlorophyll at 40, 60, and 80% soil water content were statistically similar, but different from 0 and 20% soil water content. Leaf area at 40, 60, and 80% soil water content was statistically different from 0 and 20% soil water content. The photosynthetic rate, transpiration and stomatal conductance at 60 and 80% soil water content were statistically similar but different from 0 and 20% soil water content. Water stress affected growth, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, transpiration, and stomatal conductance.
