    The article aims at presenting the mechanisms of financing the cultural magazines in Poland in the two periods: in the 70s and 80s of the XXth century as well as in the new political reality after the transformation in 1989. The paper is, therefore, an attempt to describe two models of the functioning of the cultural magazines. Firstly, the communist model is analysed. In this model the press concerning cultural subject matters was financed exclusively by the state authorities. The second part of the article describes the situation of the cultural magazines in the democratic conditions in which this type of press deprived of its propagandist function remained financially dependent on the support of state institutions. The analysis is conducted on the basis of cultural magazines in Wrocław, which portrays countrywide mechanisms of financing cultural magazines in the chosen periods.

    Opis:
    The transfer of so-called traditional journalistic genres to the Internet usually results in significant changes to their distinctive features. A good example is the Internet report, which simultaneously uses various forms of communication with recipients (e.g. text, film, image) and becomes both multimedia and intertextual material, which results in its hypertextual character. Similarly to any hypertext, because it often has a multimodal structure, it is also a kind of semi-finished product, as it only becomes a carrier of meanings and a complete work during its reception. As a result, extra tasks are set for the recipients. They must even more fully than in the case of classic literature or literary works participate in the process of decoding the meaning and become even more co-creators of the sense of the work that is being read. This article aims to demonstrate the essential features of how reports function on the Internet by referring to two specific materials that fall within the definition of the Internet report. Apart from this, the text attempts to confront the new variety of reporting with selected literary theories, such as the concept of “the death of the author” by Roland Barthes. Lastly, the article aims to cover the characteristics of the different types of recipients of hypertext forms of reporting functioning in an Internet environment.

    The article surveys the most important samizdat literary magazines published in Wrocław in 1976–1989.     Opis:
    Self-regulation of the media can have a significant impact on the formation of journalistic culture and ethical standards of the media. Its effectiveness depends, however, on the degree of institutionalization of the self-regulating tools and their acceptance. The levels of compliance vary across the spectrum of the media systems, usually due to their historical conditioning. This article aims at presenting the historical development of self-regulation in the French, British and Finnish media sectors (which represent three models of media systems in Daniel Hallin and Paolo Mancini’s typology) and comparing them with the development of similar self-regulatory mechanisms in Poland.
    Samoregulacja mediów może mieć istotny wpływ na kształtowanie się kultury dziennikarskiej i poziomu etycznego mediów. Jej skuteczność jest jednak uzależniona od stopnia instytucjonalizacji narzędzi samoregulacyjnych i ich powszechnej akceptacji. Różny jest ten poziom w różnych systemach medialnych, co często warunkowane jest historycznie. Artykuł za cel przyjmuje prezentację historycznego rozwoju samoregulacji trzech systemów medialnych (francuskiego, brytyjskiego i fińskiego) wpisujących się w trzy różne modele systemów medialnych opisane przez Daniela Hallina i Paolo Manciniego i zestawienie ich z rozwojem samoregulacji mediów w Polsce.

    Systemy odpowiedzialności mediów to wszelkie środki pozarządowe, które są stosowane w celu czynienia mediów bardziej odpowiedzialnymi wobec odbiorców. Są one elementami szerszego systemu społecznego, a także kultury dziennikarskiej. Od ich uwarunkowań i specyfiki w znacznym stopniu zależy poziom ich efektywności, czyli rzeczywistego wywierania wpływu na zachowania dziennikarzy. Artykuł stanowi próbę przedstawienia uwarunkowań skuteczności tak całego systemu odpowiedzialności mediów w systemie medialnym, jak i poszczególnych jego elementów poprzez osadzenie rozważań w dwóch koncepcjach teoretycznych: w modelu homo agens-institutionalist oraz ekonomicznej teorii dziennikarstwa. W kontekście pierwszej z nich autor tekstu dochodzi do konkluzji, że proces kształtowania systemów odpowiedzialności mediów wymaga czasu i znacznie bardziej efektywne są systemy w krajach o długiej tradycji samoregulacji mediów, w których poszczególne ich elementy uległy zarówno instytucjonalizacji, jak i internalizacji, a tym samym względnie powszechnej akceptacji przez środowisko dziennikarskie. W kontekście drugiej z koncepcji natomiast autor dowodzi, że największą skutecznością charakteryzują się te elementy systemu odpowiedzialności mediów, które mają siłę oddziaływania na indywidualny interes dziennikarza, ten bowiem kieruje się w swoich zawodowych działaniach wysokim poziomem zarówno racjonalności, jak i troski o własne korzyści.
    Media accountability systems encompass various non-governmental measures aimed at enhancing the media’s accountability to their audiences. These systems operate within a broader social framework and journalistic culture. Their effectiveness in influencing journalists’ behavior largely depends on their conditions and specifics. This article seeks to elucidate the determinants of the effectiveness of media accountability systems within the media landscape, examining both the overarching system and its individual components through the lens of two theoretical frameworks: the homo agens-institutionalist model and the economic theory of journalism. Within the context of the former, the author contends that the development of media accountability systems is a gradual process, particularly effective in countries with a longstanding tradition of media self-regulation. In these nations, the individual components of media accountability systems have become deeply entrenched within institutional frameworks and internalized, garnering widespread acceptance within the journalistic community. From the perspective of the economic theory of journalism, the author posits that the most impactful elements of media accountability systems are those capable of influencing journalists’ individual interests. Journalists, driven by rationality and self-interest in their professional endeavors, are particularly responsive to measures that align with their personal benefits.

    A description of borderland as a space can be inspiring for an analytical presentation of other social phenomena in which coexisting borderline categories occur. An example is social stratification within which different groups of individuals referred to as layers, castes or classes can be distinguished. Their character is arbitrary, resulting from a concern for the conventional, often not very distinctive interests of some social groups. Since the 19th century, the most widespread stratification system in Western societies has been the class system. However, its analytical value has been fading due to the blurring of boundaries between particular classes. The social classes, on the one hand, are subject to strong internal differentiation and are losing their previous cohesion, and on the other hand, they are becoming similar in many respects. Therefore there is a need to create an alternative and more analytically useful way of categorizing societies in contemporary social sciences. Segmentation based on the category of lifestyle seems valuable, because lifestyle is what, in a particularly important way, differentiates in the social dimension individuals forming contemporary Western societies. At the same time, this category is so capacious and distinctive that it can be analytically useful for representatives of various social sciences. The aim of the paper is, first of all, to present the structural foundation of class systems, secondly, to identify the reasons for the loss of their analytical value, and thirdly, to discuss the scientifically useful segmentation of society relating to different lifestyles.

    Jedną z form przygotowania narzeczonych do sakramentu małżeństwa są katechezy przedmałżeńskie zalecane w Dyrektorium Duszpasterstwa Rodzin. Najczęściej obejmują one 10-12 katechez podejmujących najważniejsze zagadnienia dotyczące katolickiego małżeństwa i rodziny. W referacie przedstawiono krótką charakterystykę uczestników katechez oraz omówiono treści prezentowane na spotkaniach realizowanych w archidiecezji poznańskiej. Wobec rosnących wskaźników rozpadu związków małżeńskich wskazano na szczególne znaczenie rozumienia sakramentalności małżeństwa. Na podstawie wieloletnich doświadczeń uzasadniono celowość podejmowania w ramach katechez problematyki sakramentalności małżeństwa jako jednego z najważniejszych zagadnień. W ramach pracy dyplomowej wykonanej na Podyplomowym Studium Rodziny UAM dokonano oceny prowadzonych katechez w kilku parafiach Poznania, potwierdzając w ogólności pozytywny odbiór ich treści oraz formy. Przytoczono część wyników badań ankietowych dotyczących sakramentu małżeństwa i wykazano pozytywne zmiany postaw w odniesieniu do istoty sakramentalnego związku małżeńskiego. W końcowej części referatu sformułowano ogólne wnioski.
    Premarital catechizing recommended in the Directory for the Pastoral Care of the Family is one of the forms of the engaged couple's preparation to the sacrament of matrimony. It includes typically 10 to 12 catechizing meetings, which apply to the most important issues of Catholic marriage and the family. The present paper provides a short characterization of the participants and the content presented during the meetings held in the Archdiocese of Poznań. An increasing rate of marriage breakdowns shows the great importance of understanding the sacramentality of marriage. On the basis of long-term experience it is purposeful to include the issue of matrimonial sacramentality within the scope of catechizing meetings as one of the most important problems. Within the framework of the present study written at AMU Postgraduate Family Studies evaluation of catechizing in several parishes in Poznan has been done, which confirmed the generally positive perception of its form and content. A part of the questionnaire results related to the sacrament of marriage have been adduced and some positive changes in the attitudes towards the essence of matrimony have been proved. In the final part of the paper some general conclusions have been formulated.

    Przedstawiono przypadek nagłego zgonu w miejscu pracy 56-letniej kobiety, którego przyczyną był rzadki pierwotny guz serca. Rodzina zmarłej złożyła doniesienie do prokuratury, sugerując udział osób trzecich w spowodowaniu zgonu lub nieprawidłowości w badaniu lekarskim poprzedzającym zgon. Przedstawiono przegląd dostępnych w bazach elektronicznych (m.in. Web of Science i PubMed) informacji klinicznych dotyczących naczyniakomięsaka serca przydatnych w praktyce lekarza medycyny pracy oraz analizę prawną potencjalnych roszczeń w stosunku do lekarza medycyny pracy w przypadku nierozpoznania nowotworu.
    The article presents a case of sudden death of a 56-year-old woman at the workplace, caused by a very rare primary cardiac tumor. The patient’s family reported a crime to the prosecutor’s office suggesting participation of third parties in causing the death or malpractice in physical examinations before the death. A review of clinical data concerning cardiac angiosarcoma, available in electronic databases (e.g., Web of Science, PubMed), was presented, which could be useful in the practice of occupational medicine specialists. A legal analysis of potential claims to occupational medicine specialist in the case of failure to recognize primary cardiac tumors was also included in the article.
