The notion of a parabolic Cantor set is introduced allowing in the definition of hyperbolic Cantor sets some fixed points to have derivatives of modulus one. Such difference in the assumptions is reflected in geometric properties of these Cantor sets. It turns out that if the Hausdorff dimension of this set is denoted by h, then its h-dimensional Hausdorff measure vanishes but the h-dimensional packing measure is positive and finite. This latter measure can also be dynamically characterized as the only h-conformal measure. It is relatively easy to see that any two parabolic Cantor sets formed with the help of the same alphabet are canonically topologically conjugate and we then discuss the rigidity problem of what are the possibly weakest sufficient conditions for this topological conjugacy to be "smoother". It turns out that if the conjugating homeomorphism preserves the moduli of the derivatives at periodic points, then the dimensions of both sets are equal and the homeomorphism is shown to be absolutely continuous with respect to the corresponding h-dimensional packing measures. This property in turn implies the conjugating homeomorphism to be Lipschitz continuous. Additionally the existence of the scaling function is shown and a version of the rigidity theorem, expressed in terms of scaling functions, is proven. We also study the real-analytic Cantor sets for which the stronger rigidity can be shown, namely that the absolute continuity of the conjugating homeomorphism alone implies its real analyticity.

Opis:
We calculate the box-counting dimension of the limit set of a general geometrically finite Kleinian group. Using the 'global measure formula' for the Patterson measure and using an estimate on the horoball counting function we show that the Hausdorff dimension of the limit set is equal to both: the box-counting dimension and packing dimension of the limit set. Thus, by a result of Sullivan, we conclude that for a geometrically finite group these three different types of dimension coincide with the exponent of convergence of the group.

We show that the set of conical points of a rational function of the Riemann sphere supports at most one conformal measure. We then study the problem of existence of such measures and their ergodic properties by constructing Markov partitions on increasing subsets of sets of conical points and by applying ideas of the thermodynamic formalism.

Artykuł przedstawia Metodę Dyskursu Eksperckiego wraz z opisem jej praktycznego zastosowania w środowisku naukowym Polskiej Szkoły Argumentacji. Metoda opracowana została z myślą o zorganizowaniu skutecznej współpracy między specjalistami tej samej dziedziny. Na kolejne etapy składają się: sondaż wśród ekspertów, mający wyłonić stanowiska, wybranie na jego podstawie najważniejszych oraz najbardziej kontrowersyjnych kwestii, przedyskutowanie ich w grupach i poddanie analizie za pomocą narzędzia OVA+. Artykuł zawiera sprawozdanie z pracy nad zagadnieniem siły argumentu, mającym szczególne znaczenie dla programu badań w Polskiej Szkole Argumentacji.
The article presents the Method of Expert Discourse, and a description of its practical application within the scientifi c community of the Polish School of Argumentation. The method was developed in order to effectively organize collaboration among specialists working in the same fi eld of investigation. The application of the method consists of the following stages: carrying out a survey addressed to experts, which is to reveal main positions; and, on this basis, selecting of some most important and controversial issues, and fi nally discussing them in groups and analyzing with help of OVA+, a tool for argument processing. The article contains a report on the research into the issue of argument force, which has a particular signifi cance for the research program of the Polish School of Argumentation.

Prezentujemy dwa formalne narzędzia służące do modelowania rozumowań, za pomocą których rozwiązywane są szczególnego rodzaju problemy abdukcyjne. Pierwszy model, osadzony w formalizmie logiki pytań, bazuje na pojęciu słabej implikacji erotetycznej. Drugi model wykorzystuje relacje zawężania i odsiewania definiowane za pomocą logiki pytań, semantyki sytuacyjnej i pojęcia relewancji wątku. Na przykładzie analizy rozgrywek w grę Takie Życie pokazujemy, że oba modele adekwatnie charakteryzują dane empiryczne.
Our research provides formal tools for analyses of reasoning involved in solutions to a specific class of abductive problems. We present two models of this reasoning. The first one is grounded in the logic of questions and employs a weak version of erotetic implication. The second one is construed in terms of relations of sifting and funneling. Definitions of these relations involve the logic of questions, situational semantics, and the concept of topic relevance. As we show on the basis of a Mind Maze gameplay case study, these models account well for empirical data.

Project management is general planning, coordination and inspection of the project, from the initial stage all the way to final phase, its purpose is an accomplishment of the accepted task and creation of the functional final effect, without exceeding established costs, time-frames and fulfillment of required standards of the quality. The present article was devoted to the issue of the project management in the construction sector in order to reduce the business risk. The study is based on literature examinations with an own methodological solution for project management in the construction industry. After introducing a set of definitions of the project and describing the concept of project management, a characterization of the project management in the construction industry and its effects in the economic space were described.

This comparative study examines the moderating role of risk management in project planning and project success in the construction business of the UK and Pakistan. The data was gathered from 152 project managers (76 from both economies each) using a survey questionnaire. The purposive sampling technique was used to ensure fair representation of sample size and the RAND formula was used to select the project managers. For quantitative analysis, partial least square structural equation modelling technique was utilised. The results confirmed that project planning had a statistically significant impact on project success. Furthermore, risk management significantly moderated the relationship between project planning and project success in the construction businesses despite being in two different economies. The paper contributes to the enhancement of the body of knowledge intended for global companies and academicians aiming to implement risk management frameworks to enhance project success and ensure the effectiveness of project planning in a competitive business environment. It offers a new perspective to investigate the relationship between project planning and project success through moderating the effect of risk management, which is a new theoretical dimension for construction business and the field of project management. It is proposed to the governments and construction businesses operating in the UK and Pakistan to validate the empirical research framework in the cross-cultural context while assessing risk and uncertainty. It helps the construction business in the evaluation of risk while planning and successfully implementing project strategies.

The aim related to the article is to empirically investigate the effect of environmental cost disclosure and social cost disclosure on financial performance mediated by earning management. To achieve this purpose, a quantitative research method was employed using primary data sources and collected from the employees of international energy corporations. Then, the data were examined using smart Partial Least Squares (PLS). The study results revealed that the environmental and social costs disclosure significantly affected financial performance. This was in agreement with theories of instrumental stakeholders, legitimacy and agency. This means that more cost on environmental and social information disclosure can generate greater opportunities for corporations.
Celem związanym z tym artykułem jest empiryczne zbadanie wpływu ujawnienia kosztów środowiskowych i ujawnienia kosztów społecznych na wyniki finansowe za pośrednictwem zarządzania zarobkami. Aby osiągnąć ten cel, zastosowano metodę badań ilościowych z wykorzystaniem pierwotnych źródeł danych i zebrano od pracowników międzynarodowych korporacji energetycznych. Następnie dane zostały zbadane przy użyciu inteligentnych częściowych najmniejszych kwadratów (PLS). Wyniki badania wykazały, że ujawnienie kosztów środowiskowych i społecznych znacząco wpłynęło na wyniki finansowe. Było to zgodne z teoriami interesariuszy instrumentalnych, legitymacji i agencji. Oznacza to, że wyższe koszty ujawniania informacji środowiskowych i społecznych mogą generować większe możliwości dla korporacji.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest lekki dwuczłonowy autobus szynowy typu 227M o nazwie handlowej „PLUS”. Projekt dwunapędowego pasażerskiego pojazdu szynowego przeznaczonego głównie do poruszania się po trasach regionalnych został zrealizowany przez Sieć Badawczą Łukasiewicz – Instytut Pojazdów Szynowych „TABOR” w Poznaniu, w kooperacji z producentem pojazdu H. Cegielski - Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych. Pojazd posiadający możliwość poruszania się zarówno po trakcji zelektryfikowanej oraz niezelektryfikowanej został oficjalnie zaprezentowany we wrześniu 2021 roku. W artykule zostały przedstawione innowacyjne rozwiązania techniczne i konstrukcyjne autobusu szynowego obejmujące spalinowy oraz elektryczny układ napędowy, układy jezdne, parametry trakcyjne, a także rozmieszczenie urządzeń i przedmiotów we wnętrzu i na zewnątrz pojazdu.
The subject of the article is a light two-section railcar of the 227M type with the trade name “PLUS”. The project of a two-drive passenger rail vehicle intended mainly for driving on regional routes was carried out by the Łukasiewicz Research Network - Rail Vehicles Institute «TABOR» in Poznań, in cooperation with the vehicle manufacturer H. Cegielski - Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych. The vehicle capable of moving on both electrified and non-electrified traction was officially presented in September 2021. The article presents innovative technical solutions and structural design of a railcar, including internal combustion and electric drive systems, driving systems, traction parameters, as well as the arrangement of devices and objects inside and outside the vehicle.

The primary aim of the research was to find out statistically significant differences in the assessment of selected NLP techniques (representational systems, rapport, pacing, leading) by female and male managers who attended and did not attend an NLP course. The research used an NLPT questionnaire (neuro-linguistic programming techniques). The data were collected from 124 managers - 58 female and 66 male managers at all levels of management. The results show that the respondents who attended an NLP course evaluated the examined NLP techniques more positively. Gender differences and the interaction between gender and completion of the NLP course by assessing the NLP techniques were not confirmed. A statistically significant relation was identified only at a level of selected items of NLPT methodology. The study brought new findings in the research of measuring the NLP techniques’ effects in relation to gender and contributed to the knowledge and theory of NLP techniques in the context of gender differences in the managerial environment.
Podstawowym celem badań było znalezienie statystycznie istotnych różnic w ocenie wybranych technik NLP (systemów reprezentacji, relacji, tempa, przywództwa) przez menedżerów i menedżerów, którzy uczestniczyli i nie uczestniczyli w kursie NLP. W badaniach wykorzystano kwestionariusz NLPT (neurolingwistyczne techniki programowania). Dane zebrano od 124 menedżerów - 58 kobiet i 66 mężczyzn menedżerów wszystkich szczebli zarządzania. Wyniki pokazują, że respondenci, którzy uczestniczyli w kursie NLP, lepiej oceniali badane techniki NLP. Różnice płciowe i interakcja między płcią a ukończeniem kursu NLP poprzez ocenę technik NLP nie zostały potwierdzone. Istotna statystycznie zależność została zidentyfikowana jedynie na poziomie wybranych pozycji metodologii NLPT. Badanie przyniosło nowe wyniki w badaniach pomiaru efektów technik NLP w odniesieniu do płci oraz przyczyniło się do poznania i teorii technik NLP w kontekście różnic płciowych w środowisku menedżerskim.

The article presents an innovative solution of a two-unit rail vehicle system for passanger transport with a dual-drive, diesel engine and electric motor. The vehicle was designed as a combination of two units, one dedicated to each of the two drive systems, where one unit provides electric drive while the other a combustion engine. The selection of engine and drive components was presented along with the aftertreatment systems used in the design. The provided solution was created in response to the dynamic needs of rail vehicle operators in the European Union who aim to reduce exhaust emissions without compomising the reach of the existing rail networks.
