Duty - Opis:
- Kierkegaard publicly declared himself a religious and Christian author. Therefore, it is the conception of Christian love, which is the crucial subject of his essay. Kierkegaard ́s concept of love wants to show especially the perception of the Other by an individual. I am commanded to love my neighbour as myself, and it is only when I learn to love in this way that I can become the self I was created to be and truly want to be. I can only love my neighbour as myself when I have a relation to God, who becomes the ́middle term ́ in every true love relationship. Neighbour-love is not exhausted by nor is it reducible to such natural human forms of love as erotic love and friendship. We have a fundamental duty to love God that we are obligated to obey his command to love the neighbour. Love for the neighbour is not merely what God requires; it is something that presupposes love for God.
