Opis:
The paper the results obtained during hard coal ash reclamation. This model was created by covering the ash surface with the layers consisting of ash, organic by-products and mineral fertilizers. The aim of the studies, undertaken 15 years after the experiment set up, was the assessment of the efficacy of ash waste reclamation on the basis of the overall and solubility analyses of the metal content, including heavy metals, soluble in 1 M HCl. In 2003, on the premises of Dolna Odra Power Station in Nowe Czarnowo (53,20°N; 14,48°E) near Gryfino (53,25°N; 14,48°E) in Poland, a hard coal ash reclamation experiment was conducted. A 40 cm thick surface layer (fertile), termed upperlay, composed of the mixture of various materials was applied to ash substrate. One part was fertilized with mineral fertilizers NPK-60–70–70, the other was left unfertilized. After 15 years, in the autumn of 2018, the samples of upperlays (0–40 cm) and underlays (40–60 cm) were collected from plots overgrown with grass. Fifteen years after the experiment, none of the underlays or upperlays showed an excess of threshold values, as specified in the current Regulation of the Minister of the Environment of 2016. The particularly favourable effect was identified with respect to the application of fermented municipal sewage sludge and GWDA compost which were factors resulting in a decrease of the upperlay content of cadmium, zinc, copper and lead in the form available for plants. The characteristics of upperlays with respect to metal content indicate the conditions favourable to plant cultivation on the reclaimed area. The recorded results on the change of the overall and bioavailable content of metals in upperlays and underlays justify the continuation of the undertaken reclamation experiment.

Opis:
This paper presents the results obtained during reclamation of hard coal ash. The model was developed by covering the layer of ash with layers containing ash, organic by-products and mineral fertilizers in 10 different combinations. The experiment on reclamation of hard coal ash was conducted in 2003 on the premises of Dolna Odra Power Station in Poland. The physicochemical parameters of top layers were well suited for cultivation on the reclaimed land. Particularly favourable was the introduction of fermented municipal sewage sludge to top layers. In this way, the appropriate structure of the analysed top layers was obtained, as manifested by good abundance of forms of magnesium, potassium and phosphorus available for vegetation. The obtained results demonstrate the process of accumulation of the available forms of magnesium, potassium and phosphorus in underlays when the fertile surface layer is supplemented with fermented municipal sewage sludge. The results obtained in the experiment indicate, that hard coal ashes can be managed in this way. Due to the long-term character of physicochemical and chemical properties of both top layers and underlays, the results presented here justify the continuation of the conducted reclamation experiment.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the type and origin of plant communities on an area of 4 lysimeters (35 m2 each) filed with ash and covered with two superlayers 12 years after the beginning of the experience. The paper presents the species of grasses sown in 2003, their sward participation then and the flrist status in 2015. Phytosociological records were taken using the Braun-Blanquet’s method, distinguished plant communities, the syngenesis of the recognized phytocoenoses was defied. The results allowed to determine the advantage of the ruderal synanthropic communities: Artemisio-Tanacetetum vulgaris Br-Bl. 1931 corr. 1949 (in L-2), Leonuro Ballotetum nigrae (in L-3), a community with Rubus caesius (in L-4) over the natural auxochoric Calamagrostietum epigeji Juraszek 1928 (in L-1). Their current state is referred to as a hull form. However, due to the presence of the expansive species characteristic of the above-mentioned communities, continued development can be expected towards fully developed phytocoenoses. The thesis founded about the inflence of the neighboring forest communities on the species composition of the vegetation of the subject has not been confimed. There were only three forest and scrub species with a negligible sward participation.

Opis:
The research investigated the efficiency of zeolitization of silicon and alumina bearing combustion by-products, i.e. coal fly ash and coal microspheres. Lab-scale alkali activation with 3M sodium hydroxide solution of raw materials obtained from a Polish coal-fired power plant were conducted at 100 °C. The obtained result proved that both combustion by-products are prone to zeolitization under the tested conditions with the obtained zeolite yields of 60 and 55% in the case of fly ash and microspheres, respectively. The main identified zeolite in the case of both by-products was NaP1.
