    Opis:
    A metamaterial in the form of a periodic lattice of split-ring resonators on a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure was numerically studied at terahertz frequencies. A finite-difference time-domain algorithm was applied to calculate distribution of the electromagnetic field in the layer positioned at 100 nm below the heterostructure surface where a two-dimensional electron gas typically resides in real structures. The results allowed to determine the resonant frequencies of the metamaterial as well as an enhancement factor of the electric field as a function of the period of the metamaterial's lattice.

    Transverse magnetoresistance was studied in monocrystalline GaAs:Te doped above the equilibrium doping limit and annealed to partially deactivate donor impurities. It is shown that in a sample with partial deactivation of Te impurities, which exhibits structural fluctuations in microscale, both strong positive and some negative magnetoresistances arise, which are difficult to understand within the relaxation time approximation in degenerated homogeneous semiconductor. It is discussed that a consideration of the role of spatial fluctuations (in carrier concentration, conductivity, etc.), e.g. as proposed by Herring, allows for an understanding of positive component of magnetoresistance observed in the sample with a distinct microscopic structural disorder. With the aim to better understand the transport in GaAs:Te, a model material doped above the doping limit, we discuss both positive and negative components of measured magnetoresistance.

    Large scale first principles calculations based on density functional theory and using hybrid exchange-correlation functionals have been performed in order to study the structural properties and the relative stability of fragments of the planar α and β boron sheets. Based on the considered structures, we show that, in contrast to the fragments of the α -sheet, all the fragments of the β -sheet, having more than ≈30 atoms, are fully planar regardless of their shape. We conclude that the β -sheet is the only planar boron sheet reported so far that retains planarity even if it is reduced to relatively small fragments.

    Наблюдения проводились на 230 ягнятах польской низинной овцы, разделенных случайно на две группы. В группе 1 (124) животных в период между 28-ым и 100-ым днем жизни кормили рационами, в состав которых как концентратный корм входило тритикале (пшенично-ржаной гибрид), а животные группы 1IV получали кормосмесь CJ. Анализ признаков характеризующих рост, качество шерсти и стоение, а также результаты отбора указывают на пригодность дерти тритикале в кормлении ягнят-сосунов.
    The observations were performed on 230 lambs of the Polish lowland sheep divided at random into two groups. Sheep of the group I (124) were additionally fed in the period between the 28th and 100th day of life with feeds, in the composition of which was Triticale, while sheep of the group II obtained instead of Triticale the CJ mixture. The analysis of traits characterizing the growth, wool quality, body conformation and selection results, suggest the suitability of bruised Triticale grain in feeding of sucking lambs.

    Opis:
    Performed investigations and obtained results concerned the analysis of residual stresses in near-surface areas of coppercorundum (Cu-Al2O3) composite and silicon carbide (SiC) samples. X-ray diffraction and acoustic tomography techniques, as well as the suitable calculation procedures, allowed to locate sample-areas with extreme values of stresses residing in the examined materials. The registered texture-stress characteristics reflects inhomogeneity of the samples structure identified by means of acoustic tomography. Obtained results provide valuable information on anisotropy of physical properties of structural elements produced by the technologies applied to the examined samples.
    Przeprowadzone badania i uzyskjane wyniki dotyczyły analizy naprężeń w pobliżu obszarów powierzchniowych dwóch typów materiałów: kompozytów CU-AI2O3 oraz węglika krzemu (SiC). Do zlokalizowania obszarów skrajnych wartości naprę- żeń w badanych materiałach użyto dwóch technik dyfrakcji rentgenowskiej i tomografii akustycznej wykorzystując skaningowy mikroskop akustyczny. Zarejestrowana tekstura krystalograficzna oraz naprężenia własne odzwierciedlają niejednorodność próbek zidentyfikowaną za pomocą tomografii akustycznej. Uzyskane wyniki stanowią cenne informacje na temat anizotropii właściwości fizycznych elementów konstrukcyjnych.
