    Opis:
    The paper focuses on modern martensitic steel (Docol 1200M) and its joint manufactured by means of welding process supported by micro-jet cooling for special vehicles’ structures. Docol 1200M is a type of material denoted as AHSS (A- advanced; H - high; S – strength; S - steel) with important material characteristics, which allows the potential to reduce the weight of the construction of transport means. The paper verifies if the use of micro-jet cooling after MAG welding process could help to maintain initial mechanical parameters of special vehicles’ components. The quality of the joining process was checked by nondestructive and destructive tests. Results from tensile tests have enabled capturing the stress-strain curve as well as mechanical parameters and comparison with data of the parent material. Fatigue properties of the weld are described in terms of the fatigue limit and fatigue diagram, presenting fatigue limit as a key mechanical parameter with respect to the application of the joint examined. Testing the fatigue strength of a new steel grade for special vehicles’ structures in the innovative MAG process at micro-jet cooling was treated as the main goal of the study.

    A discussion addresses general problems associated with studying science fiction narratives today. What does it take to make a believable illusion of the scientific out of literary fiction? What are the most contemporary views on the genre and its multiple iterations? Is it still a genre? These and many more questions have been tackled below by the leading experts in science fiction studies: Paweł Frelik (University of Warsaw), the most prominent Polish theorist in the field, editor of the „Journal of Gaming and Virtual Worlds”, and author of Visual Cultures of Science Fiction (2017, reviewed in this issue), as well as the first Polish president of Science Fiction Research Association (2013-2014); Paul Kincaid, renowned science fiction critic, author of A Very British Genre: A Short History of British Fantasy and Science Fiction (1995) and What It Is We Do When We Read Science Fiction (2000); Lisa Swanstrom (University of Utah), co-editor of „Science Fiction Studies”, and author of Animal, Vegetable, Digital: Experiments in New Media Aesthetics and Environmental Poetics (2016); Sherryl Vint (University of Alberta), also co-editor of „Science Fiction Studies”, director of Science Fiction and Technoculture Studies at University of California, Riverside, and co-editor of The Routlege Companion to Science Fiction (2009); and, finally, „Creatio Fantastica” editors—Krzysztof M.     Opis:
    Introduction. Gestation is a very sensitive time both to mother and child. Any substance, factor, or environmental condition disturbing homeostasis may cause congenital defects, anomalies or even death. Teratology evaluates those potential factors and their influence. Also, medicinal products used during pregnancy may be teratogenic. Adriblastin, also known as Doxorubicin, and Bleomycin are widely used cytostatic drugs in oncology. Aim. Aim of this study was to evaluate the embryotoxic effects of Doxorubicin and Bleomycin in an animal model. Materials and methods. Fertilised Wistar rat females were given each drug intraperitoneally between the 8th and 15th gestation day, and compared to control group receiving placebo (distilled water, 0.9% NaCl). Another group received acetyl salicylic acid, as a model, well known teratogen. Changes in mothers’ weight from baseline, implantation of embryos, any discrepancies in mothers wombs and health as well as defects in fetuses were evaluated and compared. Fetus skeletons were stained by Dowson’s method to visualise bone defects. Results and conclusion. Both Adriblastin and Bleomycin were teratogenic, producing significantly more embryo absorptions, and fetal defects compared to placebo. The effects of the two cytostatics were similar to the model teratogen acetyl salicylic acid.
